Any chance anyone know EXACTLY what time or what block the masternode payments take effect? Want to be ready and watching when they do to see the panic buying!

toknormal,

I'd shut down the wallet pc in the past, and confirmed that the MN IP continued to be displayed in "masternode list".  After the issues w/ various versions out there I suspected I may have been recreating the ghost nodes problem by taking down the wallet. Since then I've seen updates indicating that wallet cold storage may be implemented in future release, which leads me to believe that at the present time the wallet machine should be online. I'm planning on leaving it up until further notice, but would definitely prefer to keep it offline if possible.

Is there anyone willing to help troubleshooting what's the issue with my masternode? It used to be working fine.... (proof is that I got MN payments)
Now it's not listed on chaeplin's MN lists.

Willing to pay a bit if required.

Have you upgraded to the latest darkcoind?

Wrong.

Cold remote works fine, I set up another two yesterday. If it isn't working for you, you're doing something wrong.

No, it's worked fine in the past with the wallet offline, even got a payment while that was working. It's just if there's a chance I'm contributing to the issues somehow I'll eliminate anything that may be the cause, or that I'm unsure of. Thanks for the update though, I'm taking down wallet now.

Isn't dark wallet centralized? If so, this means we shouldn't be worried of them, right? Or will they become decentralized?

They're now working on a system like our masternode system, I "think"?  According to someone yesterday.  Still, how will those nodes be rewarded for running?  Also, DarkSend, when completed will be mandatory (all transactions will be DarkSent), whereas Dark Wallet will always be voluntary.  This leaves a hole where if people expose their transactions, you can deduce who the other players in certain circumstances.

I've been lazy and haven't set up my node yet. To just verify, cold wallets + nodes are currently implemented? So we can set up a node without exposing our wallet for possible theft?

I was going to wait until that was added, but if it has been already, I might as well set it up now (or at least try to).

Yes, cold offline wallets now work. El Presidente's guide here should see you through the process:

https://www.darkcointalk.org/threads/how-to-set-up-ec2-t1-micro-ubuntu-for-masternode-part-2-3.241/

Follow it exactly if you haven't done it before or it's been a week or two since you noodled with your node. Personally I skip the /usr/bin/ bit, run everything with ./darkcoind from /~.darkcoin, and use the linux qt wallet for the local steps, but if that makes no sense to you just stick to the guide.

edit: If you are setting up multiple nodes, remember to edit your local darkcoin.conf back to basics before each new run-through! Wink

It links to darkcoin.io?

And the site links work (although they are still incorrectly labelled RC2)

Have you considered checking out XC Privacy Platform? XC nodes are run from a wallet and require no special expertise to set up.

Before you listen to the subsequent FUD after my post, please check out the XC topic and read the posts from our developer and you will see it's a working and legitimate project.

Nice and thanks. And wish it was multiple nodes... just have enough coin for one.

And are most people using amazon EC2s for these? Any particular size needed? Small freebie EC2 good enough? Or are they using something else?

UNSURE ABOUT WHAT YOU NEED TO DO FOR FRIDAY'S HARD FORK?

You must update to the latest version, anyway, here is a guide on what to do depending on whether you are a regular user, masternode op, pool op, exchange, etc. Please visit and make sure you update soon.

how much bandwidth 3 masternodes use? and total amount of monthly traffic? is 1 mb upload enough?

Looking at a small sample size of one day, my bandwidth usage (per node) ranges between 200 and 600 MB per day.
YMMV
