Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

Good news: Much cheaper to buy a masternode.

Bad news: It's not paying itself off anytime soon.
What I see in the logfiles I have suggests it's not a difficult fix. Taht's why I'm annoyed at the rollback instead of a hotfix... You gotta know when to be aggressive. Evan is being overly cautious...

It is not such an investment for which you have to expect return on investment. You can withdraw the whenever you want .... Educate yourself !

BUMP: Everyone update.

FYI - this was just sent out to the mailing list.  More information to follow.

Evan Duffield
10:43 AM (7 minutes ago)

to bcc: me
The Darkcoin network has been experiencing some issues with
intermittent blockchain forks. These forks are not as serious as the
last update, being they appear to fix themselves after 15-30 minutes.
However, we must revert to no masternode payments until we're sure
we've discovered the problem.

Please recompile if you're running a daemon, otherwise binaries will
be made available soon.

https://github.com/darkcoinproject/darkcoin

Thanks,

The Darkcoin Team

Bumped:

2 Failed forks, It will be interesting to see what happens from here, how forgiving can the community be? personally I wasn't willing to take the risk, I got out near the top of the pump. I wouldn't be surprised if the hype machine can pump it up again, especially with a fresh set of bag holders on board  Grin

You people need to understand "rights of passage".

This is exactly what makes a winner - problems and overcoming them. Sorry but it's a non-sanitised zone.

Darkcoin team need to keep going and see this as progress. I know it doesn't look like it right now, but believe me it is, that's why I call it "rights of passage" stuff.

Everyone else is going to have it, and if they haven't they're just a disaster waiting to happen.

The market wants products where the disasters have ALREADY happened and DRK is going through that phase now.

Everyone keep their hair on - especially Evan which he does seem to be doing.

I suspect the 0.015 BTC is almost as low as it will go for now... I actually have bought a couple at various stages but mostly been around 0.0165 ish... I just bought 20 DRK on 0.015.... Planning to hold it for a while so I guess I am not too bothered about the price going down furthur. I guess you just need to find the right entry point when people are panic selling... Plenty of opportunities to buy.

I think you got it right. As the news continues to be that the issue is not so serious and that Evan is simply being cautious the price will climb back quickly.

I speculated a little bit last night...bought 155 DRK at .019 with my last paycheck. Had to sell them quickly (one way or another) to make ends meet, so I lost about 10% (sold at .0175). My actual long term investment I'm still HODLING.

Exchanges  still not accept withdrawls or deposits though. Way to late to sell anyway.

Hopefully they will find the problem and complete a quick fix for it.
