1432 DRK shot just gone through in addition to the 2602.

This worries me.

When all these people buying masternodes get their servers up, they'll find that the revenue has halved or even quartered. Will they then all just cash straight back out ?

I am not really "worried", but I wonder if everybody buying understands the variability. MNs are like solo mining rather than pooled mining where you only get rewarded when your node is elected for service.

I have a feeling we are going to get a lot of "my MN has not gotten paid, DRK is SCAM!!1!!1!" stupidity in the coming days.   Roll Eyes

I think the people who can afford to run masternodes would not have such weak hands

It's not a question of weak or strong hands, it's a question of a calculator and ROI - return on investment.

Right now, ROI is 1.5 years.

When all these nodes are setup it'll probably be about 4-5 years. It's simple statistics that that will be beyond many people's viability threshold.

That is only taking in consideration DRK revenue. Coming from fiat, I am well well well over ROI'ed already, if I were to cash out. At current price, MN revenue only,  I'll ROI FIAT by year's end. At this growth rate, I'll be MN revenue ROI FIAT by early August.

There is no "standard" ROI for masternode like with ASICs or GPUs imo. You can take 1000 DRK out of your masternode at any moment and that will be the moment of "ROI".

This also depends on the future price of DRK, likely it will be more than 10$
Lets say the future price will be 50$ and you are only getting 0.5 drk from your MN thats 25$ per day.
Im looking at the MNs as a future income stream. Not just a yearly ROI

Anybody worried that MN will make this coin extremely scarse? I know that scarcity doesn't matter with cryptocurrencies, since we have many decimals. My only worry is that due to the scarcity, every time 1 master node holder decides to sell his coins (or someone decides to purchase a new masternode), the price will change dramatically. This could possibly result in a very unstable price. Thoughts?

See step 24 of this guide:

https://darkcointalk.org/threads/how-to-set-up-ec2-t1-micro-ubuntu-for-masternode-part-2-3.241/

Basically, the local node "talks" to the remote one and gives it the thumbs up that you've got the private key for the masternode wallet address.

From that point on it can go offline and the wallet can too.

I don't know how the system prevents you from "spending" the 1000 DRK following that handshake exchange, but presumably the remote masternode periodically checks the address to make sure the 1000 DRK's still there or something like that.

Very valid point. I believe current prices will be dwarfed when DRK gets picked up to do micro-merchant tx and mega-private-tx.

When this happens, DRK will be huge. Then yeah, if you want to buy a few Tesla S's for friends and family, you'll cash out a node and make a few gzillion dollars. By then, monthly revenue will adjust accordingly.

But that has happened already last December with huge BTC "bagholders" dumping at 1000 USD/BTC. Price corrected at 650, and then th world got Gox'ed and after that PBoC FUD crashed to 350.

by then, all eyes will be on DRK, so if there is such a dump, it will be eaten faster than a hot-dog at a hot-dog eating festival.

just tested it, removed the old drivers with DDU uninstaller in safe mode, it seems that the statements are true, the speeds are increased and the temps are almost the same.

got to test it in older cards like 69xx 79xx, and also check the hashrate at the pools.

Excellent! What card you got? How are temps? Got a Kill-a-watt meter? Please do report back (better on the miner original thread though)

No. Didn't the developer say that the max number of MN is 2000 or something?
So that would be only 2M coins.

i do not have a watt meter, on my 6950,7950,7970 it gave me 1mh/s more in total, same temps like before.

edit:pool reports correct hash rates. Excellent job

this is my setup: 6970,2x7970,2x7950,280x toxic, 7970 club 3d  24.5mh/s in total. it was 19 mh/s before.

So that would be only 2M coins.

If every DRK in existence right now was tied up in a masternode, there would be 4399 masternodes.

At lowest reward (safe to assume) currently that would be ~0.131 DRK/MN/day ~ 48 DRK/year

At 2000 MNs (a bit more realistic) it's 0.288 DRK/MN/day ~ 105 DRK/year

At 1000 MNs it's 0.576 DRK/MN/day ~ 210 DRK/year

At 500 MNs its 1.152 DRK/MN/day ~ 420 DRK/year

Going with 1000 MNs as what IMO will be a good rough guess, each of my MNs will bring me in about £1500/year at current prices of 0.02DRK/BTC(@£350)

1000DRK currently costs ~£7000 so that's a 21% return per year. *At current prices, which are unlikely to remain this low if all goes well!*

Plus with so many DRK/fiat exchanges popping up, the price of BTC will become increasingly less relevant to DRK holders.

DRK is not an alt, it's a financial apex predator... Wink
