Greedy to run a masternode? lol just stop guys, its lame.

I mean that its not so hard to do some math how profitable is running MN. And there are lot of greedy and stupid ppl in cryptoscene.

Exactly. Masternodes are not meant to be a get rich quick scheme. They can be very profitable over the long term. Right now we have enough for DarkSend to work properly.

There is no rush for people who are not experts in linux, ubuntu, network security, etc to rush to have one set up on day 1 of MN payments.

Eventually I plan on setting up multiple masternodes myself. However I plan to wait until the step by step process has been tested by more people (without the expertise I mention above) to make sure it is completely dummy proof.

I am not naive enough to think there are 0 risks for someone like me to run a masternode. I am sure there are others in my situation who would be well advised to take their time as well (instead of rushing MN setup now just because the total MN count is lower and payments will be higher now than in the future).

+1

Some people still have DRK in their MN from RC2:
https://darkcointalk.org/threads/whats-the-steps-for-turning-off-a-masternode-removing-coins.1449/#post-9103

It would be great if there was a step by step guide (easy to find via a link on the first page) with a video, pictures diagrams etc to address these common questions.

The people who say masternodes are super secure and easy to set up are all very advanced users. Many more people would love to start a MN and would if the process was easier (which would make the network more secure).

Like I said before, we are off to a great start. Those with questions about setup should wait instead of rushing and making a mistake.

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

Its on many encrypted usb sticks in my house, car and workplace..
Hacks MN --> gets IP --> location --> comes and takes everything away from you.

That's one advantage of not being on a fixed IP.

My home broadband connection changes my IP every few days. When I need to terminal-connect onto the masternode I just revise the port 22 firewall to keep up to date with my "moving target" home broadband public IP address.

#EXTRAPROTEKSHUN

(Anyway, so what if a hacker finds your home IP. With the new hot-cold wallet masternode scheme, you don't need to have *any* wallet on your home PC. Have it offline completely on an encrypted drive in your cupboard).

It's rather pointless.
How many hours before fork?

LOL, you're spouting rubbish.

Someone could come and take everything away from you anyway, forget DRK and masternodes, it's all pointless, throw yourself off a cliff now mate before it's too late!  Roll Eyes

There is a step by step guide, if you're not competent to follow and understand it, then you have no business running a masternode. Educate yourself, none of this is particularly hard.

Would you attempt to fly a plane or drive a car without some basic understanding of how to do it and how it worked?

Basically, lazy people complaining that they can't get something for free...

what time of day is the hard fork exactly tomorrow?

16:00 GMT / 12:00 noon EST
Please note (because this confused people last time) GMT is not the UK's current time zone - UK is currently on British Summer Time. This is the current time in GMT:

wwp.greenwichmeantime.co.uk/info/current-time/

And that would be at 18:00 central european time.

Try finding me then. With this IP you'll end up in some 3rd world country probably.  Cheesy
MNs are fun, that's why I'm hosting multiple.  Cool

I just realised the fork is going to coincide with New York waking up.
Today is going to be epically crazy. If all goes well, RC4 will be insanity.

Fasten you seatbelts!!

I'm sorry for this noobish question, but do we have an idea of what will be implemented in RC4?

Or at least some teases?

I hear a lot about it but didn't see anything aside from "improved anonymity"

Whales are out in force today.

2602 DRK shot gone through just as the market was correcting - jittery trading from the deep pocketed ones. Worried that someone's going to jump them halfway through the 15 minute MACD correction cycle.

That's us blasting through 02 now. That sellwall was demolished in a single trade. Another supply shock on the cards.
