Nice !

What does this mean for alt-coins?
According to the Pantera Capital website, the firm also has their eyes on other digital currencies outside of Bitcoin [4]. While this isn’t the first case of venture capital funds taking notice of alt-coins, it certainly is an interesting distinction to note because alt-coins have largely been neglected by traditional investors (and often companies already in the Bitcoin space). With the spectacular rise of coins like Darkcoin, perhaps the alt-coin economy has caught the attention of large Bitcoin speculators.

...all the way to the Darkbank Grin

This is huge. This is way bigger than Bitfinex news, or any other to date for that matter.

I was quite happy to buy additional 3200 @ average 0.0169 in the last 3 days, but now I think to get fully out of BTC before this gets out farther.

Darkbank is open 24/7!

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=626139.0

My take on Darkcoin, Bitcoin, and Bytecoin Clones(monero, quazarcoin, honeypenny etc).

Why Darkcoin is the best choice for anonymity

I've also researched Darkcoin very well and even though there was a issue with many coins being mined because of an accident with the block rewards, it's safe to say that 99% of those coins mined by early miners, were sold early, I have examples below.

1) Darkcoin is the first x11 algorithm coin, it is very ASIC resistant and allows GPU mining, to stop botnet farms from controlling the coin
2) Darkcoin is the first DGW coin, or Dark Gravity Wave coin
3) Darkcoin is the first coin to have the Masternode Process built in. Masternodes serve as an incentive to uphold the network as well as get paid 10% of the coins mined every block, and they allow anonymous transactions to happen, similar to how TOR works(TOR is 100% anonymous)
4) Darkcoin's Darksend ability gives you the Option to anonymously send your coins, you can either send coins regulary or Anonymously, which gives a lot of freedom for an anonymous coin and is not an option for Cryptonote coins
5) Darkcoin has one of the most Devoted and Competent Dev's in the Crypto World, he has proven time and time again to be fully able to providing Darkcoin with the best updates and advances, and soon enough would be comparable to Satoshi himself

_______________________________________________________________________________ _____________________________________________

Why Bytecoin/Monero and other Cryptonote Clones Should Not be Used:
I know many of you must know of the Cryptonote Coins, such as Bytecoin, Quazarcoin, Monero, HoneyPenny, and FantomCoin ( https://cryptonote.org/coins.php)

I have researched those coins long and hard, here are my conclusions on why they would never work.

1) Monero, Quazarcoin, HoneyPenny, and FantomCoin are all Clones of Bytecoin
2) Those 4 coins all possess the exact same features as Bytecoin since they were forked/cloned from Bytecoin's sourcecode
3) They all use Ring Signatures for anonymity, but the problem is, Ring Signatues has severe bloating issues, to the extent that the Monero blockchain is 8x bigger than then Bitcoin Blockchain
4) The Bitcoin Blockchain takes an average 8 hours to fully sync(faster or longer depending on the comp)
5) 8x8 is 64, so that means the Monero blockchain takes 64 hours to fully sync, which means that you would be unable to send or recieve transactions until that 64 hours is over and the blockchain is fully synced
6) Monero has been destroyed by Botnets, which are computers compromised by Hackers that mine Monero 24/7, 365, I wouldn't be surpised if Hackers control more than  70% of the Monero coin Supply atm
7) None of the 4 Cryptonote Clones have any innovation

Conclusion: Bytecoin is the only reputable coin out of all the Cryptonote clones because; They(Monero, Quazarcoin, HoneyPenny, and FantomCoin) were cloned/copied from Bytecoin, and because of that, are extremely unlikely to have much of a future, Clones
never make it far.

_______________________________________________________________________________ _____________________________________________

Why Bitcoin Should Not be Used:
[/color]

1) Private Companies would never use Bitcoin
2) Individuals who want privacy would never use Bitcoin
3) High Net Worth people/clients would never use Bitcoin
4) Celebrities would never use Bitcoin
5) Government branches would never use Bitcoin
6) Practically anyone or anything, that values privacy would never use Bitcoin

1) Private Companies would never use Bitcoin, because that would risk having competitors know all their transaction info and using it against them, hence why Bitcoin has never gained a foothold on companies

2) Individuals who want privacy would never use Bitcoin because using it is like having everyone around you know you're bank statements, credit card info, practically every purchase you ever made and everything you ever recieved, which is very scary.

3) High Net Worth clients/people would never use Bitcoin because that would ruin their chances of getting/maintaining the upperhand in whatever field their in. Ex: Warren Buffet buys 400 shares of Conzartop LLC which recently made a cure for cancer using Bitcoin, his competitor Ran Tuffet sees this on the blockchain and plan to sabotage/lower Conzartop shares on the stock market to make Warren Buffet lose out big, or they simply copy him and buy shares with Conzatop, effetively making money by doing nothing but copying Warren Buffet.

4) Celebrities would never use Bitcoin because their address can be traced back to them, and that would be a huge problem, considering they're stalked by the paparazzi and others every single day

5) Government branches would never use Bitcoin because that would be just about the stupidest thing they could do, it would risk their enemies knowing every single transaction they make and would make spying on each other much much easier.

_______________________________________________________________________________ _____________________________________________

I've decided to make this thread to show the light on Bitcoin, Cryptonote Clone Coins, and Darkcoin.

Perhaps a silly question, but when a MN is payed, does the drk end up in the "1000drk" wallet, and if so is it at all possible to get these drk out without disrupting the function of the running MN?

Having the program executable in /usr/bin is super useful in that I don't have to type ./ every time

TanteStefana - you mean you download the update to ~/.darkcoin, then copy it up to /usr/bin, overwriting the old darkcoind ?

I understand that running ~/.darkcoind launches the one in the home directory and just darkcoind launches the one in the /usr/bin.

Actually, I cd into the folder /usr/bin then execute the deletion and download from there.

I used to start it in my home directory like so:  darkcoind -daemon and it would be the last version I downloaded to that directory.  But then, I couldn't figure out why when I downloaded the latest file and started it, I would get the old file starting up.  Then I realized my machine decided not to use the one in my home directory but the one in my /usr/bin directory.  This was there because I followed El Presidente's tutorial, but it never mattered before.  Anyway, now I just update that one, it's not hard Cheesy  So if you should find any problems like I've described, now you know where to look Cheesy

I'm very sad to admit I used to work for the city, and IMO, bureaucracies are simply bad, period.  They may not be completely avoidable, but must be minimized and put to reckoning for what they do and how they spend money.  My soul and spirit were crushed there, and the best thing I ever did was quit.  Though I do love my friends there.  Even some of the top level people were very good people, but the system is very unhealthy.  Government should be as small as possible, in my opinion, and as you go down the chain, to the local governments, those should have the most influence on what is done FOR their constituents.  The corruption in the Federal government trickles down to the local governments because you have to play their game to get funding.  It's an evil monster.

Sorry, there I go again...

He was involved with the EdgeCoin SCAM
He was the Escrow

He knew it was a scam and he still participated

He might have paid people back on their investment but he still made money on the escrow fee's
As far as the law is concerned - when you make coin's through a SCAM - YOU are in part of that scam
You are an accessory to the scam

ANON136 should have given back the escrow fee('s).
He profited from this scam and ANON136 should be held, in part, legally responsible.

Well the majority of this community is quite toxic..

I suppose reputation here can be important, you must make some nice btc doing escrow. Ever been involved in something big (your own coin maybe)?

Ok so first your response doesnt have anything to do with my question at all. second, really? i saved dozens of people from being scammed and this is the thanks? i didnt know it was a scam. nothing in the conversation you linked indicated that din was a scammer. yes i made profit on his scam, i made it from SAVING people from the scam. the purpose of escrow is to protect against scammers, not to protect against honest people. if anything, if i had to chose whether to take profits from scam ipos or real ipos it would make MORE sense to take them from the scam since that is the situation in which my services are actually being useful. maybe english is not your first language. or maybe you are just a really bad troll. either way stop slandering me please.

They still have to account for it, and since the government will only run off of Fiat, they have to sell it to get use out of it.  Then it probably goes into the "general fund"

First question, no, you still have to put up collateral.  You just don't see this happening.  It is only visible if your client misbehaves and you are charged Smiley

Second comment, I don't know if anyone can properly say if a coin is a scam coin.  Each potential investor must be an "adult" and decide that for themselves.  This isn't a regulated industry here, it's the wild west, and it's why things are happening at such an accelerated pace.  If it were regulated, it'd still be at the licensing bureau, LOL.

Darkcoin was called a scam coin more times than I can even guess (can't count that high) and I never thought it was a scam coin.  So can people who call every coin that isn't Bitcoin a scam coin to be trusted?

Ultimately, it looks like Anon136 provided a service for people who CHOSE to trade in whatever coin that went down the drain.  If he provided the service truly, then he did his job.  Why in the world should he insure the value of their choices?  I certainly don't think that makes sense.

I wonder if Evan will let us know when (or if) hedge funds meet with him to perform their fiduciary due diligence. No hedge fund manager would take on a sizable position made up of other people's money without first vetting the developer. Also, I'm suspecting hedge fund attention will possibly perk up following successful and secure MN launch however the move to open source will likely garner the largest attention.

I own a DASH Masternode.... And you should too.

I think ultimately, when Darkcoin starts being used to transact regularly, it will find it's true value.  That won't happen until DarkSend is completed.  It might happen more after version RC4 is out, and the 10 coin limitation is lifted.  But I would also think we need to be at the point where DarkSend is mandatory as well.  At that point, DarkSend will (in it's current for, but mandatory) end up being close to 100% anonymous.  It will be incredibly difficult to figure out, and even then, there has to be a known trail somewhere to follow.

Other than that, it almost feels like we're more stable in price than Bitcoin, LOL.  Investing in Darkcoin right now is kind of a long term thing, because, unless you're good at day trading and can consistently buy low/sell high without too many mistakes, and stop before it takes off and you can't get back in (or are happy with the little you've been able to eek out).

In my opinion, and I'm not a financial guru whatsoever, Darkcoin will have a steady rise as it continues to be discovered and used for the foreseeable future.  And right now, people are watching, like a cat watching a mouse waiting for the time to pounce Wink

Anyway, now I just update that one, it's not hard Cheesy  So if you should find any problems like I've described, now you know where to look Cheesy

ok, I'm going to do it like you.

Thanks a lot for the description - has helped me understand what's going on now.
