Anyone knows what Evan has been up to lately? If not, my guess is that he is preparing a sick announcement for RC4 tomorrow after hard fork.

Given the path that we followed from alpha-beta etc, usually stuff related to DarkSend were first tested on testnet to check them out for problems... I doubt RC4 will go online straight away as without testing it might break existing functionality. It's a 50mn coin right now, you can't just put large updates without test. But even when it was 1-2mn coin, we still went the testnet route first. So probably we'll first see a call for testing RC4 features, when some of these are ready, and then => RC4 announcement.

As for price, I recommend keeping some cash in reserve to chew panic sellers if something goes wrong. No matter how well tested it is, masternode payments are a big hack to the protocol and they may still present problems. This is not FUD, it's just the way it is regarding such fundamental changes. Let's say the right attitude this time round is "cautiously optimistic".

Dont spread lies!! Its not a 50mn coin right now. Its a 47,255.055 coin !!   Grin

Anyway, big surprises soon to come to the Dark world...

there isn't a reason why i can't use windows for my local/cold wallet? It's just that the MN setup guides over @ darkcointalk assume both local and remote machines are running linux.

Here's the guide for Windows...

THIS FORK WILL GO SMOOTHLY SO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF PEOPLE'S SCEPTICISM AND BUY NOW!

This fork will go smoothly all the signs are there, I can tell you that last time setting up masternodes was a frustrating experience the ghost masternodes problem wouldn’t let you be sure if your node was up and running the masternode count didn’t make sense and there were a lot of updates and new versions in a very short period of time before the fork.

This time around things are working great you see your node come online right away, we actually have cold wallet masternodes now, with 0 risk of loosing coins, that is huge as people will be willing to use a larger percentage of theirs stake to set nodes. P2POOL can now be updated since before the fork last time P2POOL was only designed to be updated after the fork introducing a new unknown variable that was not part of the testing environment. This time the network will reject old versions so people that inadvertently or intentionally leave clients running with older versions wont affect the system.  If you are planning to buy coins after the fork you will probably have to outbid everyone else doing the same, it would be way smarter to buy now and take a very controlled risk.

I think it's more fitting to let the copycoins have that one. Wink

Well, just goes to show what happens when you try to clone an original, when you're absolutely not ready to take on the challenges that go with it.  Cheesy

As usual, economists miss fundamental points, like, you know, the existence of the decimal one:

Quote
“Bitcoin might be a good investment [due to its limited supply] but it’s not money. If demand grows, which seems likely, and the supply is constrained [then the price will rise].”

Cryptocurrencies are divisible rather more readily than nuggets of gold... coin supply is a red herring. They just can't get their bent little heads around a store of value that they can't devalue at will by printing more of it.

Move all your DRK in mintpal and mine in the official pool until everything is clear and safe, dont spread your panic, last fork had issues with masternodes that caused mini forks, not the pools and the exchanges.

What the fuck are you talking about?? Coins are not safe in a 0.10.10.1 wallet? ? ?  Angry Angry

Not in a predictable deflationary model. With obvious demand, constant predictable growth model = increase in price. Its un-natural inflation that screws everything up.

Although I'm 100% behind Mintpal as an exchange, that is the absolute worse advice ever. You're safe dude, just dont give yourself a heart-attack by sending funds during a fork to someone you dont trust to have the correct wallet version. Even if you would do that, its reversible.

Keep your coins where you know it safe! Encrypt and multiple back-up and you're fine.
