Hey guys, When click on the News section on the Darkcoin main site ( http://www.darkcoin.io/media.html), I see 1 post dating from April 22nd 2014. Above this single post it says : "Read our releases and follow the news." Why is this page not updated  When I'm thinking about investing in a coin, first thing I do is check how active everything is being maintained and updated. A news section without any news would definately raise a red flag. I know news is posted on Darkcointalk, but if it's only posted there then why not remove the current content of the news section on http://www.darkcoin.io/media.html and just post a link there to the Darkcointalk forum ? good point, it would be enough to copy paste Evan updates straight in there! DRK needs to be in the news every week for the next 6 weeks. there is enough material there. 1. what is the official statement to the press on the Coinbase story? 2. what is the official statement to the press on an alternative to Tor? 3. What is the official statement to the press on kristov review and his initial comments? 4. What is the official statement to the press that RC4 is running stable and now we move on to xyz? 5. Something that happened to XMR (low cost spam attack with high mixing setting) and is also of interest to us regarding the size of tx fees which some complained about... I wrote that tx fees must be high to prevent spam attacks: From the monero thread; Monero currently appears to be undergoing a spamming attack. Every 5 seconds or so, someone is submitting tx with mixins of 101 to the network: https://minergate.com/blockchain/mro/transpoolSee also recent blocks: https://minergate.com/blockchain/mro/blocksCurrently I have limited connectivity to IRC. Please alert FluffyPony, Smooth, etc to this if they are not aware it is going on. We may issue temporary mining-level code that rejects tx with mixin >= 20 or some other reasonable number. + why does this matter? don't they have to pay higher tx fee for higher mixing count? Isn' this equivalent to if a whole bunch of people were using xmr as a currency
Current tx fees are very low to keep XMR accessible to all users (about 1 cent per 24.4 KB), but would allow a user with bad intentions to spam about 300 MB into the blockchain each day. Someone has decided to abuse our blockchain in an act of malevolence. We will be deploying immediate patches to pools to cope with this update. Expect a mandatory update today. + It should be blatantly obvious that we don't want to sell 100 GB of blockchain space for $41k. Do the math dudes, for the sake of Monero!
...from what I'm reading they had to issue a patch to increase tx fees to 0.1 XMR per tx or something like that, to stop the attack, lest their blockchain and coin would be rendered completely DOA. Cheap tx fee = easily attacked blockchain. So fees must be balanced in a way where this becomes problematic for a would-be attacker. |

Actually, mr omahapoker has highlighted something very interesting via his profile.... Link the amount gambled with the Coinbase story - where they track bitcoins coming from gaming which they consider a risk from a regulatory point of view so they are closing their members accounts indicating block chain analysis - and you have what will be free advertising for DRK. It won't be long before people will start asking what they need to do to avoid being banned by various services......this could become one of the back stories to DRKs rise. Any gamblers among us?
