After a few days of peace, a new FUD offensive seems to have begun. My only comment to this is:

In 2014, a crack dev crypto unit was sent to prison by an organised FUD court for a crime they didn't commit.

This unit promptly escaped from a maximum-security FUD stockade to the crypto underground.

Today, still wanted by the POS coin shill's and FUD'sters, they survive as developers of fortune.

If you have a problem... if no one else can help... and if you can find them... maybe you can hire... the dArk-Team.

You seem to be forgetting that someone dumped down to .004.  That's why the price is down.  What you call fud is just people holding drk that are getting frustrated.  Apparently someone holding 20,000+ drk decided to get out.

Don't worry, the price will go back up and people like me will provide liquidity and volume to the market by selling the drk we bought low for a higher price.

Can someone please indicate the costs to run 10 Master Nodes (based on a recommended hosting solution) and roughly the amount of time involved each week, or month, to manage them.

Many thanks.

All I know is Amazon.  I'd say if it's your first time around, 2 days to get them all set up at most, and about $70 - $100 a month tops to run on t2 tinies with all charges..... er.... if you commit to a 3 year deal where you get the low prices. (~$100 per server)

So yah, that's all I know

If your target audience is a 15 year old wanting to spend his/her allowance money?  Then good article, it should reach that target audience well.

For anyone else, that was poorly written and hopelessly one sided.

Could I recommend a name change for the site?

If you are planning to inform people to use DRK for "shady" stuff that might flag them in some territories as "illegal" (like gambling which is perfectly legal in one country and illegal in another), you can also advise them to use IP obfuscation, like TOR - until DRK has it's own obfuscation network. It's not only the blockchain that can give one away. It's also the IP.

For NSA, the IP from TOR should be crackable, but for companies like coinbase it shouldn't. A company that needs to be compliant with the law can perform a blockchain analysis (coinjoined coins = problem) or an ip analysis (tor=problem for them) and it'll come empty in both ways so they'll have to accept the coins.

Boom, I just had what alcoholics refer to as "A moment of clarity"...

Now I understand how powerful the additional utility of IP Obfuscation will be for the DPN...

Nice one  Smiley

Yup RC5 is a big deal.

You said the same thing about RC4.  Next you'll be saying "Wait until RC6!  Then to the moon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!".

On vultre you pay 5$ per month. Traffic included is everything you need. No contract. If you shut down a node no more cost on next days or until end of month. Only that you use. 10nodes = 50$/month

New thread (Aug. 23) on the coinbase fiasco. No mention of DRK there yet: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=753606.msg8503380#msg8503380

I've always seen them as an exchange.  I wouldn't leave my coins there a moment longer than they need to be (exchange, and transfer to my btc wallet or to my bank)  I don't understand why people use exchanges as online wallets?  It's frightening!

Sho bitcoin doesn't opfusticate ips you have to use Tor for that no?

RC5 is a big deal but I'm not saying ohmagerd buyitall now.

But it is a major technical development. It is a big deal. As is RC4.

I expected the price to move way higher with RC4 but so did everyone.

But I'm supporting this project because it's being worked on day and night and the objectives are being ticked off.

The only people hyping this are here in bitcointalk.. the core team are just getting on with making awesome.

This frustrates a lot of people who want the hype and dramatic rises.

But a slow and steady rise will do more for this coin than stratospheric highs and lows.

Your time would be better spent on some of the real pump and dump schemes who's prices go stratospheric without delivering anything.
Have a look a bittrex pick one, and go to their bitcointalk page. I'm sure you'll find plenty of behaviour to rail against on any one of em.

Are we on 9 months yet? Darkcoin has earned it's place. If half of your accusations were true it'd have been dust long ago.

Slow n steady. And time for adoption really. Enough with the speculation let's start getting it accepted and spread beyond this fudfest/speculative trade zone.
Let the real market decide what it's worth.

Help please...what does "not capable masternode" error code mean? Following WeirdGod tutorial to the letter but this pops up when trying to start the masternode from the console. My son who has been the one who is trying to set this up for us has said when he searches forums for "not capable masternode" issues it doesn't help him troubleshoot cause he's not sure what it actually means. Sorry if this sounds stupid...my son is technical person...did my best to explain problem. Thanks

this guide?
https://darkcointalk.org/threads/drk-guide-rc3-masternode-windows-local-linux-remote-vultr.1367/

"Now, you need to put 1000 DRKs to your wallet, in order to enable masternode! From your other darkcoin wallet (or from exchange where you bought DRK, send 1000 DRK to this address). You must disable DarkSend, as it is currently limited to 10 DRK. 1000 DRK must be transferred in one transaction, in ONE piece!!!! Not first 1, and then 999! It has to be 1000 in one transaction, or you will have problems later (you will see "not capable masternode" error message)."

you should be setting up an RC4 masternode though.. or you'll just have to upgrade it soon.

Can anyone recommend an RC4 guide?

Or approach ghostplayer here - yiddakee on darkcointalk

Make sure you have denomination turned off and transfer the 1k from and outside wallet, like an exchange.   I had that problem until I realized denomination started to break up the 1k and render the MN unable to start.

This guide is good, I'm not running the same setup but the mechanics are the same, do everything in order exactly as it instructs:

Eventually, Masternodes are going to have to put out for larger servers to hold more data and run the "darktor" thingy, and all the other services.  When that happens, my amazon will become a family minecraft server, LOL.

I've got a nice list of companies that offer some excellent services regarding anonymity, etc... and are not in the USA.  So when the time comes, that's where my service will go.  At the time I got my amazon, MN were brand new and I knew I was going in on it for the long haul, so I got the contract.  THEN everyone started talking about diversifying the network, and getting it out of the country, etc... LOL.  Well, I put too much into this, can't afford to go elsewhere until things pick up.  But I figured I can answer the question from what I know there, and hopefully help someone make an informed decision.

Yes that guide...I'm pretty sure I watched him setup the 0 address wallet and transfer the 1k DRK. Would be real nice if some more info on MN setup out there. Something up to date...

The only thing that needs updating with that guide is to change rc3 to rc4.   Everything is the same as far as configuration goes.  Your 1k is broken up....that's the issue.
