Is there any service or exchange that would let you type in a private key to a Darkcoin address to get access to those DRK, or any other way to do it if you only had access to a browser and didn't have access to a wallet program? I know there are ways to do this with BTC.

Why would you want to trust a website with your privkey(s)?

The trust required is no worse than having the coins in an exchange. The user shouldn't leave their coins in an address for very long after they've typed the private key to that address into the browser.

Edit: apart from man-in-the-middle attack I guess... use https. Smiley

What I would suggest is instead of charging per message, you create a membership system

Membership implies record-keeping, so no. Keep it volatile, and therefore untraceable.

Not if membership works like an antivirus... Smiley  I would also think it would be appropriate to have the option to pay one time fees on clients that are not pre-paid if you will...

Please just stop the spamming, we are hard at work on something real here.  I know you just want to make a quick buck but I dont really think the Darkcoin community is your target, by know most people here do actually have a clue. Ignored.

I think you ignored the wrong one. He was neither promoting nor pumping BTCD, he just said that a pump is going on. pbleak keeps doing good stuff for the DRK community. https://darkcointalk.org/threads/deepdotweb-article.2266/

I vouch for him, please unignore pbleak.

This brings up an excellent point that I'm going to take in a different direction.

Mass Adoption, User Friendly, etc. These are all trust based because the user refuses to learn or take responsibility. It negates the value of a trustless solution since the user is giving up everything and simply trusting anyway.

Unless you can force people to understand and educate themselves, most advancements beyond BitCoin are irrelevant. Not because they are worthless, but because nobody understands it and they never will. They simply choose to trust whatever gets shoved in their face the most and thats it.

Maybe there's another service Masternodes could run, further down the line - temporary, decentralised, anonymous online wallets. I can't think of any reasons why I would personally use that, but typing in a privkey to get access to the funds would be one use.

Thanks. Was a little surprised to be ignored! My issue here is that we are seeing a pump cycle with copy coins. I have zero interest in these beyond the fact that with DRK we have matured beyond all the hype/noise. But it reveals a certain trend or cycle. Not entirely important to us but always worth keeping note.

I stand corrected then, I guess we are all a little bit tired of all the pillaging that happens on other coins claiming anon. I think I overreacted, will erase my post. I apologize.

No problem. My point was that I wanted to show how the anon coins are literally copying DRK cycles. They don't have the dev to survive beyond it. 100% DRK boy here.

Actually, after open source and a period of settling down, I think I'll spend more time posting over there and less time bumping here.

I'd love to have in-wallet messaging. No reason not to have this and I'm sure this is something easy to implement, especially with other coins already having messaging/chat features.

+1.

It would be like sending messages to a darkcoin address. Both anonymous (so that you don't know who sent the message, and can't answer) but also not anonymous (so that the senders address is known to you, but only you, so that a private conversation can take place).

It will not be possible to answer an anonymous message, because that would compromise the whole darksend anonymization process. (or could there be a way?)

Ofcourse sending a message should cost a small amount of DRK, maybe 0.01 or something, so that eventual SPAM could be limited...

Question is if messages are embedded in the blockchain or simply being broadcast by masternodes and probably saved and managed in the users wallet.dat?

Your thoughts evan?

This is a great idea. It just occurred to me that if messaging were implemented you might also be able to identify yourself (if you want to, of course) with the address. Maybe instead of signing up to online services with your email address, you could do it with your Darkcoin address. A place like DarkcoinTalk could be the first to implement it. It's quite difficult to find email services which won't ask for your identity, certainly without paying. So if you don't want to reveal your identity when signing up for email you basically have to pay (sometimes quite a lot), or commit fraud. Or set up your own email server.

Paying for sending messages is essential to prevent spam, but maybe it could be scaled so that very short messages are very cheap and then they get more expensive, the more data you send. Also with the current volatility, I think coding in set prices in DRK is a mistake. There must be a way of establishing some sort of ratio to things like difficulty, coin supply, market cap, masternodes, fiat currencies, precious metals or some combination of any of them, or something else.

Whether the masternodes are used for anonymous chats or internet browsing, the content sent or viewed by the user must be automatically encrypted before it goes thru the mn. (IMO)
