I saw this thread and I know it's late but I really just like to tell you that I really like ethereum more than bitcoin and I dont hold much of this coin but I would like to hold more I dont know why but this coin is really close to my heart one day this coin will surpass bitcoin.

I think the price is this down because of the recent decline in BTC price.

What happened was Bitconnect blew up finally like everybody knew it would plus the South Korea regulatory comments which caused selling in eth because we ran 1100 to 1400 as people were planning on holding through the etherzero split Jan 19 for the free etz coin per eth. Now they are a bit underwater and will get some back with a rebound over 1000 plus the split and new people on the sidelines will wonder if eth can stop falling by tomorrow night so they can possibly get in on the split hence a rebound or stabilization plus the fact the entire crypto market is down to just .5 trillion and most people think it won't go below 425d to 450b due to just the storage of value thesis in bitcoin and eth

At this point no politician will be reelected bashing crypto, their best bet is to put forth fair regulations that allow it to thrive and stop suppressing people from being successful. How do you place a bet in a casino and if you lose you lose 100% but if you bet crypto maybe worst case you lose 30% in a day, isn't casino gambling worse, what is the problem they should just make the icos rules better like regulate them and say the cap is 12 million period for anyone and kyc and a special task force that goes after ico fraudsters. Also icos should be required to post results or code every two weeks

I don't why people suddenly come to a conclusion about ETH and start fud about the coin. ETH is the long-term project already we have seen many ups and downs in ETH price, the value of other coins are also facing the same situation in the market, now the market is in the correction so don't worry about it.

at least eth staying very solid against btc. most of coins dropped 50% we just drop less than 10% against btc. as $ is another story. For me eth is safest coin now.

Happy, because now ETH is steady in second position and difference with BTC is only 50% and this is a remarkable achievement, ETH has the chance to beat bitcoin.

This is also one of my theory from 2015. Another coin can beat BTC. Which is the coin I don't know. Bitcoin has only popularity, nothing else.
