NMC is not the only one, but until recently was the only one that supported merged mining.
I've been encouraging wizkid057 to add HunterCoin and MazaCoin, but he hasn't had time yet.

Is MazaCoin really merge minable? I'd not seen that mentioned before. It seems people normally run traditional pools for it.

Crazy. I'll have to try. I already have it set up on my server but not running, have a p2pool node set up for it. Forget that, I'll merge it off BTC. Wink

Beats me how.  I'm not having any luck with merged mining with p2pool.  I keep getting "method not found".

Mazacoin doesn't have a getauxblock RPC call. That is what p2pool uses to fetch the merged work. So, I'm confused.

whats wrong with eligius lately?
it used to be awesome and the best pool hands down, but the past few weeks they've been going down or stats not working almost every other day, not to mention the 990+ btc queue and the low luck..
I'm wondering if btcguild, despite the hefty fee's, would actually give better payouts despite the fees due to their consistent luck factor..

anyone?

Luck lasts a lifetime if you die young. :-)

Actually this poster is displaying one of the most amazing of human traits, "Risk aversion". She believes that luck is something that appears in batches, and is determined to chase after it from craps table to table, not realizing that each throw of the dice is completely independent of the last.

In mining this is mostly harmless, other than going with pools that have large fees. The fun comes when you buy high and sell low. This is IMO the main reason some people are "poor" and others "rich". :-)

this pool has been under constant ddos assault for the last 2+ weeks.  that's the main issue.

feel free to use btcguild.  their 90 day luck is only 97%.  eligius is 95%.

The pool's been working fine (for me).
But the stats web site has been DDoS'ed to hell and back for the past couple of weeks, AFAIK.
WK has been so tied up mitigating the DDoS that other things have been taking a bit of a back-seat.
The last week's luck has not been so good but - that's luck for you !
I can take variable payouts and the pool has not failed me yet, so I'm staying around for a while.
I use BTCGuild as a failover because it is reliable (have used it for years for this reason) but I do notice the payments are smaller (if more regular).

If you think I deserve it - BTC always welcome - 14GkxT2xcpgvGVBgMjtGeFiXrxnttBSRRF

Can mazacoin be merged mined with bitcoins?
I believe Luke has gone on record stating that they don't support alternate currencies except those who might be doing something new and/or useful.  NMC is the only one he recognizes as such to date.

I don't know anything about mazacoin, but you'd have to get that past Luke, first.
NMC is not the only one, but until recently was the only one that supported merged mining.

Ah OK, so a complete reversal of what you've said in the past about alt-coins ...
I've always made a distinction between scamcoins and legit altcoins.

That's what I suspected.  I will pray to the God of Hermaphrodites instead.

Would praying to Zeus change our luck?

Has about as much of a chance as the DDoS attacks: zero.

I'll pray to the Ghosts of Steve Jobs and Steve Appleton Cheesy At least I met both of them while they were alive.

I'm assuming wiz is aware, but haven't seen any mention of it. The 'blocks' page loads blank for me. Everything else seems fine though.

Isn't DVC also a coin that is merge mined?
Before adding MZC wouldn't it make sense to merge mine DVC?

(I like MZC and Huntercoin too)

so ... the device running cgminer worked as expected but ................. the ones that lost you lotsa hash rate were running what?

nothing was using cgminer. I used Hex Miner for the TechnoBit devices. Those kept going. I use bfgminer for everything else. It's embedded in the mess of text I wrote, but that part is in there.

The ones that lost the hash rate stopped hashing at Eligius. The BFL units on one instance of bfgminer went into failover, and the KnC on a separate instance dropped to less than 800 MH/s

Oddly enough, I have a total of 330 GH/s after the two TechnoBit units died the other day. I'm still at the computer after writing the postyou've responded to. My hashrate at Eligius has dropped again from ~330 GH/s to ~265 GH/s. bfgminer shows the KnC and BFL units to be hashing fine. Curious if this is a stats issue, si I've switched everything to another pool again for 24 hrs to see what kind of hashrate stat i get. Perhaps i have more HW issues than I thought, though bfgminer is reflecting this in no way whatsoever.

I've been messing with this crap for hours every evening for over a week. I'm burnt out for now. I'll check in tomorrow. Appreciate the help.
Is Hex Miner a technobit cgminer fork?
No it is windows GUI getwork only miner. So you need to run it with proxy...

Not just devcoin. I know that there are also i0coin, ixcoin, groupcoin and probably a lot more that I don't know about... There are a lot of them... But you get next to nothing for them... Getting 105% on PPS on NMC get you more...
