Eligius goes in waves It seems all goes well for a while, then something gets borked in the frontend, payments pile up, Whizkid does a manual payout... wash, rinse, repeat. Just the character of the pool. Ok, I see... if that's the reason why, then that's just the way it is. No problem here... :-)

I try not to let it get backed up too much. Unfortunately I get swamped with tons to do and it hits the back burner often. I'll try to keep it in check a bit better. (Was 6 weeks between manual payouts this last time)

I see no outages or anything out of the ordinary on this side. Also, a pool wide issue is generally easily noticed in the pool hash rate graph... which shows no issues in the recent history, either.

so when you said awhile back, the reason for my dc's from pool was cause of being ddos'd, would that show up on pool hashrate as well? or does it only happen to a few ppl here and there for some reason?

Depends on how long the DoS lasted before safeguards kicked in. A lot of the time only a handful of people are affected and need reconnecting and it happens quickly enough to not affect the pool. If you look back at when we were getting regular large DoS attacks, you can see the little dips as people failed over for short periods. There haven't been any DoS attacks that have caused any real issues lately though, thankfully.

I suspect the stats are broken or stuck.
In the past 20 hours or so we have solved approximately 14 blocks.
The 24 hour luck rate is 131.64 Last 10 blocks 158.16 last 12 hours 99.88 which all are great, but according to my stats i have not been awarded not even .019 btc with 6TH of hashing power.
So i suspect a stats issue some where.
Just thought you might want to know.
With luck rates that high i usually mine about .019 per block and the last 12 or 13 blocks 0.0

The amount you earn per block is not based on luck. You are paid up to 100% PPS. I'd guess your shares rewarded as of last block is at or near 100% already with the recent luck paying your shelved shares. Seems to be no stats issue. Can check further if you share your address though, but above is what I guess is happening... which is normal behavior. You cant be paid more than the work you put in. Eligius does not use proportional reward system since this is broken. Neither does any other pool.

Here is my address 1P66KUPHNSh9DjcHHN5nBC6AuaPfoCQkut I have reviewed other contributors and there stats appear about the same as mine for the same time period. Whats strange is the stats page for my address us at 22%, and when i called it a night 8 hours a go it was 75 % not uncommon and the pool was working on 14 blocks. We are now down to 2 blocks working on so we completed 12 blocks in that 8 hour period not bad at all. But not to be reward any work in the last 12 blocks seems strange.
I do understand the PPS, but to say that i have not process any shares in that amount of time does not sound right based on my total hash rate of 6TH. I will check my miners and see if i have high rejection rate, but i would be surprised if i did.
I am not complaining at all, just trying to learn. I am a numbers person and understand stats.
I think you run a very professional and straight up Pool. I have been in the Information Technology business for the past 29 years, i understand the large amount of work this must be for you. I can not thank you enough for all your hard work.
I have recommended this pool to everyone i share the BTC mining experience with.
We can take this discussion to email if you like. I will be glad to send you my email address if you like

No need to take this private. If anyone else is having similar questions it's better to keep everything open.
I'm confused as to why you think you havent been rewarded for any work. At the time for each block Eligius has found there is a corresponding increase in your balance graph.
Likewise, with this current long round (12 hours!?), you balance graph has leveled off as shares are shelved due to the crappy round.
I see nothing unusual here.

Is it possible somehow to mine on eligius on port 443? (firewall issue)
I actually had decided (a while ago) to stop officially supporting non-mining ports for mining. Generally, if you don't even have access to *outbound* traffic through a firewall for mining, and you also don't have access/authority to fix that situation, then it is most likely that you don't have authority/permission to be mining at that location in the first place... and abuse/theft of resources is not something I condone. My suggestion would be to get outbound on port 3334 enabled.

Thats the simple reason. That being said, I guess i'll end up doing just that.

There's virtually zero risk of opening a hole of any kind by adding a firewall rule that allows known *outbound* traffic on a known port from a known device... *shrugs*

Wizkid Sorry for all the dumb questions, just trying to get my hard head to understand all this. What exactly defines a round, in reference to the round luck percentage. And if the round luck is 32% thats a bad luck for that specific round. ok So then i go look at the block stats and 99% of the time there is a block thats has extreamly low luck percentage, and that would make since to me. Can some one on here please explain this so i can stop asking so many dumb questions. Thanks so much for your time in helping us learn all this. A round is how long it takes for Eligius to find one block. The last block was found ~8.5 hours ago. (Block Height 311,302, at the top of the list.) That means that the current round started ~8.5 hours ago. This is about 3x longer than expected, which is why this round is showing 31% round luck. (No longer! Just found a block! That round is over and had 31% luck.) The "Round Luck" % at the top right of the screen is constantly counting downwards from the start of each round. What this counter is really saying is, "If Eligius found a block RIGHT NOW, this is what the round luck would be." The reason for the "Round" vs. "Block" terminology is this: on most rounds, miners will have worked on multiple blocks. E.g. if a round takes an hour, the pool will have worked on 6 blocks (on average) during that time (because of 10 minute average block time). Each time a new block is found by the network, the pool starts working on the next block.
