Hey guys! So... Here's where I'm standing. I feel I should stop promising things if I don't eventually get around to delivering it. It's been quite a crazy few months (in the latter half of 2014). I jumped from project to project to try and find something I can live off, and almost all of them failed in some manner. It's been frustrating since I couldn't get things going again. If I think back on last year, The Cypherfunks was definitely one of my favourite things: a huge highlight of my year. We've shown that this crazy idea has at least *some* legs. . We just need to keep going. Thinking more deeply about where we want to progress, we want to do the following: keep making music & find a way to use the token to incentivize this. I'm not working with the Dogeparty people anymore and it seems like development support hasn't followed much since November. Even IF we did eventually port over to that, we would not have to keep a chain going, but we could then spend to build new cool stuff for the token (while making music)... and frankly I'm not sure what that would look like. And building that manually would be quite effort since native support for token-based communities isn't available yet (or is very, very new). So. Here comes the cool part. I've joined a company (finally, and formally: not ad-hoc) that is going to build dapps on Ethereum. I've seen something amazing stuff (like a native, decentralized forum being built). My gut feeling is that because Ethereum is designed to more effectively work with any case of using tokens, it will be much easier to slot in new functionality. One of the first stuff I'm going to build is a token issuance/management platform, with the goal of making it easy to slot in additional features (such as a forum for a token community). Further along the line, we could even build decentralized hosting (either with Storj or Ethereum's Swarm) or voting systems (rewarding artists with new tokens for example). All this is very, very new. I really want to eventually port The Cypherfunks over to something like that (after having seen how easier it is in terms of development). It means, not only will we be at the cutting edge of dapp communities, but also continuing the idea of changing music making in the 21st century... continually, and always. However, because this stuff is still relatively new, it might mean it might take months, even a year for it to be prime-time ready. My goal is to build something as soon as possible where we can port the tokens over (the burn). Until then, the normal altcoin goes along as always. Utmost thanks to those who keep mining it. Unsung heroes. When we eventually port over, those who mined will still control a proportionate amount. I've FINALLY managed to finish a new song, which I will upload soon! YAY. I don't see myself not making music for The Cypherfunks in the foreseeable future. I hope you can guys can join me? Thoughts?

That's great news for you Simon! I've been following Ethereum (as best I can) since it's inception, and I'm excited about the possibilities of it's potential for the Cypherfunks. It just goes to show that being patient paid off. If we had rushed the gun and gone ahead with the original plan, it might not have turned out the same way. At least now we can look forward to actually having the Cypherfunks work closer to the way it was originally intended.
In the meantime, I started producing with so many artists that I decided to start a small label. The Sound Position is now officially a music label, it's something I've dreamed of doing since the 90's.. So expect a lot more music releases soon!
I'm in it for the long haul, so I will be a diehard supporter, or 'unsung hero' if you will. Maybe just 'hero' in the future.

I wonder why all the hashing power came along all the sudden? I guess another one of those multipools, grabbing and flipping coins.

Where did that graph come from groggin? go here http://p2pools.org/funkthen navigate to http://149.210.168.71:36363/static/or it mighta been just someone w/an asic (not much profit to be made on FUNK atm...) with that much hashpower, he'll get every block; the 20 minutes he was there, = 10 blocks = 1,000,000 FUNK. prolly enough for one day, didn't spike the diff too hard. takes me all day to make a mil, lol diff's coming back down nice  { "blocks" : 240914, "currentblocksize" : 1000, "currentblocktx" : 0, "difficulty" : 0.64319995, "errors" : "", "generate" : false, "genproclimit" : -1, "hashespersec" : 0, "networkhashps" : 26325643, "pooledtx" : 0, "testnet" : false }

whats up everybody, I havent been here since launch lol. im just wondering whats going down...im a musician so naturally I find this interesting. I play the guitar mostly but i have been messing with Reason 5 for awhile as well. I grew up with one of the guitar players from slipknot and he taught me to play long ago, like when we were 13ish maybe? (i know alot of you guys dont do metal ) but i also came up following the dead and went to alot of NIN shows, janes addiction etc. lately i have been doing the thievery corp, zero 7, max sedgley thing. after listening to alot of you guys stuff on soundcloud i would have to say with a name like cypherfunks we need more FUNK! I'm curious about the music collaboration...like can anyone edit something and add to it or whats up with that? anyhow i'll be around just getting bored with crypto lately and starting to focus more on music. there are a few crypto radio stations around, we should make something really good and convince them to give it a play or not whatever, i'm not real familiar with what you guys are up to just yet so if im out of line just slap me or something, later
oh yeah, is there a pool somewhere or are we just p2pool right now? thanks
ps. sorry if i drove the diff up a little

When disco replaced Funk in the latter half of the 70's, it became associated with a particular era and it's popularity rapidly declined. No doubt helped along by the fact that softer r&b was better suited to conservative daytime radio programming, and by the rapid growth in synthesized music. You're welcome to make funk, or any other kind of music you would like and release it on the Cypherfunks. That said, I'd be open to making fusion with funk in it. Funk, Glitch Hop, Groove mixed with Soul or something like that.. We've already released some really good stuff, (well of course that's a matter of taste). However, our music has been played on the radio. Letstalkbitcoin.com, and a national radio show in Germany to name just a couple. And there are no pools that I'm aware of, except P2Pools. I've been using minbox.com to collaborate. If you want to do a collab you're welcome to hit me up on Soundcloud or here or where-ever..

I must say in the last week, I've seen a big rise in funk music. Are we going to re-live the disco era? I wonder...
