I recently installed Microsoft Visual Studio 2012.  I didnt even think of that causing any issues, as we all know how reliable and amazing microsoft software is (sarcasm).  I will try removing VS 2012 and see what happens.

You are doing this backward. If you have Visual Studio then start the Litecoin program under the debugger and it will point you to the problem which causes the crash.

I might have mislead you to believe I am a smart programmer that knows what he is doing.  I ran it in the debugger and im all like

I was able to get the LTC sent after I loaded my wallet on a different computer. So that works for now.  Still have no idea how to figure out whats wrong with the original computer.

I set up reaper to mine using my GPU with litecoinpool.org

Setting in reapers config are this

host litecoinpool.org

gpu_thread_concurrency 21572

It appears to connect but then just idles away receiving no shares the line it shows is like this

Got LP9.1GH/s, shares 0:0, stale 0%, `o kH/s, 332s

I have left it for 30+ minutes to return to lines and lines of this.

Any help is appreciated I can't tell if its the miner, the pool or me being dumb

I can run my cards stable around 940/1200MHz

Agreed, I saw the aggression at 318 and I almost crashed just reading it.     I use 14 aggression on a 5850 in Win7 x64

If a business accepting lite coins needs to issue a mass refund from anonymous customers, can they just issue the refunds back to the sent from address in the lite coin qt GUI? Or do they have to analyze the block chain transaction to get the right send back address?  Is this how satoshi dice and other like businesses operate on send back addresses?

Bitcoin has a problem of some of its services not thinking, when sending coins on behalf of a user of that service, that someone might send coins back to that send-address intending them to go back to that user.

If it is not already too late for litecoin services to avoid picking up that "bad habit" it might be a nice feature for litecoin not to have to worry about whether, and if so which, particular service you happen to use to send coins can or cannot handle coins being returned to the sending address.

After all it is not as if a lot of bitcoin services provide their source code, so litecoin services likely are going to have to code their own (and hopefully release the code so every other coin over the centuries doesn't also have to code their own) thus need not inherit such "bad habits" by virtue of "thats is how the reference free open source implementation of such services does it"...

Whilst mining with cgminer with my single 5850, the hash rate it shows seems to jump between 100-500 khash every 5 seconds. Surely that's not right is it? The average khash it shows is 377, which seems about right compared to the wiki. Just wondering if anyone can tell me if it should be jumping so much and if not, how to fix it.

I saw the same thing with multiple pools and current cgminer, for me what did the trick was going from -g 1 to -g 2 and all of the sudden more shares were getting done and the hashrate on pools reflected that.

Litecoin will be updated to 0.8.1 soon. Like wtogami said, I had originally planned to stay 1 major version behind Bitcoin so that we don't get bit by a bad release. But as it turned out, the 0.8 hard fork just made it clear that there was an issue with old releases that could cause a hard fork even without 0.8. So wtogami and pooler will be helping me with rebasing the Litecoin code to 0.8.1. I do want to wait til May 15 to make sure that Bitcoin is able to handle the potential hard fork. Since the Litecoin community is much smaller, we should have even less of a problem. But it's better to be safe.

figure this would be the place to ask, i had a few litecoins in an online wallet at a site called wallet.it and it appears to gone under and the domain is for sale, did they steal my ltc or can I recover them some how? Anyone else get their shit stolen?

some trolls in the btc-e trollbox are saying litecoin was forked.. and there are two blockchains running? dont think this is true. how can this happen and how to prove this?

It did not happen. Do not listen to the trolls on BTC-e.

I just checked the chat and apparently Putin is giving away Litecoin to everyone with rubles. I think it best to leave the mis-information on the troll box.
