Actually, with SegWit on BTC comming, I can see value of LTC rising more and more, as people dont want to be in BTC during Aug.. so if they go to LTC and taste it, it pushes price even further
I will buy more.

The forecasted growth of the coin by the end of the year is 200-250 $.
---
Litecoin will shine soon, was always undervalued.
Agree with you, LTC will hit 200$ this year. But even now LTC is 50$ and this is good price. I think LTC has good fundamental, so, lets see))

Litecoin was never looking so stable and full of potential. It is being added to more and more exchanges since Charlie Lee came back to it. It is to be agreed that investing in LTC right now will be profitable in short to long term without any issue.

I'm thinking selling some btc now and buying ltc come august 1.
However Im not really convinced in LTC as some people seem to be. I kinda would like to be, because it has big market for many years now, very good supported exchange wise etc.
Maybe Im just a noob and dont get it and hopefully someone can enlighten me on this. Some smart people definitely support LTC and see it going strong in the future.
Here are three things why Im sceptical about Litecoins future, am I right or wrong? :
* Its always second to bitcoin. Some people say bitcoin is not a competitor to litecoin, how can this possibly be true? its like saying Audi is not a competitor to BMW. Another one: "litecoin can coexist with bitcoin and be for smaller purchases, while btc for larger". Isnt it like saying euros for big purchases and usd for small ones or euro for banknotes and usd for cents?? I dont get it. I understand litecoin at the moment might be faster, cheaper to transact and generally technically better then btc and I agree, but what happens when btc solves its slow as turtle expensive as gold transaction problem?
* Historically ltc always dropped back to 3usd something stable low after the market bull run hype period. while btc always always stabilized at higher price then before bull run, ltc was not able to hold it and dropped all the way back to where it was before?
* and last one - litecoin just sounds something like you know..LITE coin and its logo even looks like one (is it silver or just nickel). kinda feels like its almost programmed to be always lite, light and cheap? you know there are lot of psychology involded in markets..

what do you think? am I totally wrong and just simply dont get it? thanks

I have already invested in this coin and I am thinking of long term benefits with this coin in the long run. I must be confident that this coin will reach very high values in the near future.

While researching into LTC and encountered this newly (just 15 minutes ago) published article: http://www.newsbtc.com/2017/07/16/litecoin-core-client-still-doesnt-create-segwit-transactions-default/

The Litecoin Core Client Still Doesn’t Create SegWit Transactions By Default

Controversy is never hard to come by in the world of cryptocurrencies. Litecoin successfully activated Segregated Witness on the network months ago. Interestingly enough, the Litecoin Core client doesn’t generate SegWit transactions by default. One would expect this to have changed by now, yet it hasn’t for some unknown reason. This begs the question if there are any SegWit transactions on the Ltiecoin network to date.

The LTC community was quite pleased when all mining pools came together to activate SegWit. After all, this scaling solution and malleability fix is quite important. Bitcoin users saw this as a way to test the scaling solution and draw their own conclusions. However, it seems things are not exactly going the way as planned. More specifically, Litecoin Core clients can’t generate SegWit transactions by default in release 0.13.2. Considering how this is the latest stable release, it poses a big problem.
Litecoin Core and SegWit Integration

While it is known a future version of Litecoin Core will solve this problem, some questions linger. Having SegWit activated on the network, but not in the Core client is very strange. After all, the goal is to test this solution thoroughly before it is activated on the Bitcoin mainnet. So far, it seems very little active testing has been done. That is quite problematic, considering many people Litecoin can overtake Bitcoin if the latter hits a snag when activating SegWit. Then again, this scaling proposal still remains largely untested on a live network to this very day.

It is important to keep in mind the current Litecoin Core client does support SegWit. However, accessing this feature requires a fair bit of tinkering. Having a default option would make much more sense, but we’ll need to wait for the next release to see that happen. Saying how Litecoin has proven SegWit is safe is definitely not correct at this stage. Once this protocol powers all network transactions, we can start drawing conclusions. Until then, there is no reason to think otherwise.

Additionally, it doesn’t mean there are no Litecoin SegWit transactions either. One Reddit user posted a spreadsheet of information regarding these transactions. It appears the overall number is still relatively small, even though things are picking up a bit as of late. One particular network bloc on July 11th even saw 100 SegWit transactions. That is quite a significant boost compared to a month or so ago. Segregated Witness usage is not as widespread within Litecoin as people would think. That said, things are evolving in the right direction, which is good to see.

LTC looks like a "safe space" (as safe as it could be that is) for those who want to remain in cryptos and wait out this period with "less" risk. Long term Im sceptical (unless bitcoin somehow fails in coming months), but now it has its role I suppose Smiley

With a successful month-long trial period concluded, it has now been announced that users of Athena can purchase and send litecoin in seven operating states at all 43 ATMs. All Athena ATMs will now sell both bitcoin and litecoin.
At the current time, however, the Athena online wallet is still bitcoin-only. Though, users can send LTC to the litecoin wallet address of the person or website they wish to pay from any ATM.
