Anyway,
Quote
Please note that daemon=1 is not set, so if you want to run your litecoind as a daemon, you need to pass it in: "./litecoind -daemon"
Is this actually necessary? Anybody know for sure? Because mine works just fine with only server=1 in my config.

Cheers

You only need it if you want it to run in the background. If it works for you without it, then stick with that.

Got my script all set up (basically a while : do wget litecoin.conf && litecoind ; sleep 59 ; done with the tenebrix miner fired up in the other window ) so I hope to be the first. =)

If I can get to the keyboard around the time it's slated to go live I'll bump down the sleeping.

Here is my batch script:

Quote
:downloadFile
sleep 5
"c:\Program Files (x86)\GnuWin32\bin\wget.exe" http://litecoin.org/downloads/litecoin.conf -O %appdata%\Litecoin\litecoin.conf
if errorlevel 1 goto downloadFile

cd litecoin-windows-daemon-10-11-2011
start litecoind
cd ..\litecoin-windows-miner-10-10-2011
sleep 5
call "mine 8 threads.bat"

Noe - I had to change the default user/pass in the "mine X threads.bat" from user/pass to miner/litecoin - those are what appear in the sample file.
Going to sleep now, hope it works.

Here's to a successful launch, and kudos to coblee and everyone else who helped make this launch happen - seems very promising so far.

Will be laughing when he launches 600 EC2 instances against this POS and kill it just like Failbrix was killed. TBX is the only CPU mining coin ATM. Along with SC2 maybe. He has 1.25 million TBX so I think he wants Litecoin dead.

Doh, ignore that.  Have had a few beers and forgot we're (in the UK) still on BST which is an hour ahead of GMT.

I would like to suggest a 50/50 coin that divides the work 50% GPU and 50% CPU. You would do double SHA2 first then send it to the CPU for scrypt. You could maybe even do this twice per hash. This one could be called heavycoin. This should take AWS out of the picture.

Yeah figured it out soon as I hit enter - saw the time was 3.00am and tried running the client.  Had beer induced amnesia causing me to forget that until later this month te UK isn't actually on GMT.

Gotta compile your own optimized thread with the flags I posted pages (and days) ago.
