Go back to using port 9332
9333 is the p2p port.

I switched to 9333 because I saw that the client was just not listening on port 9332, and was getting errors when I was trying to connec tto 9332.

Still, even running the client with gen=1 does not generate, the client is on 0% CPU.

Definitely 9332.
One reason maybe you are not caught up on blocks. Make sure you have the latest code. Call getinfo and see which block you're at and compare to http://blockexplorer.sytes.net/chain/Litecoin
Also call getwork and see if your daemon is caught up and giving work to your miners.

double check you have server=1 if it is not listening, and add an rpcport=9332 just for good measure.

Personally I am using the litecoind.exe,   but at least the gen=1 should be working for you...   longshot I guess, but are you sure you put the server=1 in a config file in the right place?

check the taskmanager if you have a remaining task kill it. That happend for me, I also installed the boost library because I got an error at first. (Though I don't think that was the issue since it should be statically linked)

OK, resolved, finally, at 5 GMT +2  Sad Sad Sad

The problem was I download litecoin.conf form the provided by coblee, with unix-style line endings.
The client couldn't read them properly.

So ... at what block# should we have a difficulty retarget?

Diff will retarget at block 4032. It will be 4 times current diff.

I have had similar problems.

Everything was fine with testnet, but problems happened after widows updated.

Wonder if something with that is blocking it.

The problem for me was a corrupt conf file, downloaded from the first post (probablly unix-style newlines).

To fix, just create a fresh conf file with the values you need. coblee, please put this info in the first post or fix the conf file.

Perhaps the lightcoin release is only practice for heavycoin the CPU/GPU coin.

How many version or times, i have to download windows client & windows daemon.

If litecoin-qt.exe cant mine & cant run when litecoind.exe running then how to see the balance with out using getinfo.
What is the use of having a GUI with no way to mine?
Seems it has been talked much before launch & after launch a lot of mess.

Perhaps the lightcoin release is only practice for heavycoin the CPU/GPU coin.

We already  have a GPU coin.  It's called bitcoin.  This is a parallel CPU coin.  The two complement each other, like dollars and cents.  Why smush both into one?  One can be speculated on and has huge ups and downs, and this one should be relatively speculation free for a while.

And unlike a smooshed coin we now have two separate networks, with different potential points of failure.  I consider this to be a GOOD thing.

My jsut sites their with 8 connections and says Catching up Downloaded 119 blocks, last d/l block was 2 hours ago.

I have cleared it all and started over, and still get the same response, even after sitting for 15 mins, another on the same network is working fine.

Yes, that's the point.  You can't have multiple clients running with the same wallet file.

Quote
With litecoin-qt.exe, i cant mine solo. TO mine solo i have to run litecoind.exe.

This is no different from any other miner gui.  To run a miner against it you put server=1 into the config, or start the gui with -server

How many version or times, i have to download windows client & windows daemon.

Hrm.  One more try for the windows guys, this time linking static?

Not really.  I'm not seeing many problems (other than having horrible luck with orphans, but apparently 90% orphans are normal this early).

I reported this problem earlier, you need to download libstdc++-6.dll and libgcc_s_dw2-1.dll and put them in the daemon's folder.
I downloaded mine from mingw, it took some time, you might also find them on google (I don't know a trusted site except mingw).
