yes that's right, I agree with you, bitcoin is a digital currency and not digital gold, because everyone is free to argue like that, as long as it is not harmful to others and harming bitcoin is enough ...

Not exactly, but you can think of it that way. It has a very limited supply and something that worth $6,937 is remind me of it.

After reading a lot of posts made by people on this forum, I realized about 75% of them see Bitcoin as a digital Gold. For me, I don't think Bitcoin is a digital gold. Cryptocurrency or Bitcoin to be precise, was developed to be a safer option for transaction of goods and services and also the best mode of payment. Bitcoin was introduced to disable all the restrictions that banks and the financial system presented. A lot of people have lost huge sums of money because they saw bitcoin as a digital gold. I know others will argue that bitcoin has also made people rich but for me, I don't think it is advisable to consider Bitcoin as a digital gold. Bitcoin is a digital currency.
You are very right. Bitcoin being referred to as digital gold is a misconception that should not be allowed because it is misleading. It is a DIGITAL CURRENCY.

I think it isn't reasonable because bitcoin haven't been accepted in all country like "real gold". It should be "digital currency" even there are many similar features but bitcoin have more advantages.

If we are talking about the price, bitcoin is like a gold because bitcoin is very expensive even though the price is falling but its remain expensive so I agree that bitcoin is a digital gold. If someone mine a gold they will be rich someday right? just like when we are keep investing and focusing our time on how to earn bitcoin there is the possibility to be rich someday because bitcoin is expensive like a gold.

I think it is an digital gold because of it's benefits you can get on any campaign you will join in bitcoin forom and some people are
Investing because of its exchange that bitcoin owner can benefits.

Bitcoin is digital, you can compare it to gold. It is almost impossible to make Bitcoin yourself, but it is possible to exploit Bitcoin - the important feature of gold. It can not be counterfeited so we can say bitcoin. like gold

bitcoin is a digital currency that can be traded on cryptocurrency so that we and exchange our bitcoin with fiat money or by making transactions by buying other coins here which makes bitcoin more attractive so we can collect our bitcoin as much as possible.

it is due to the price and the way it always moves upwards in long term. for example when last year price went from about $900 to $20000 (more than 2000% profit in a little more than a year) that attracted a lot of investors and speculators to the scene. and eventually many of those involved in bitcoin started seeing it as an investment and not much else, specially when the fees went extremely high last year due to spam attack. but in the end bitcoin is a "Currency" and that is why it is growing not because of speculation and being a digital gold, store of value,...

Yes, to me Bitcoin as a new gold. Gold and Bitcoin have similar characteristics, but when gold is scarce, Bitcoin seems to dominate. Both are commercially available, have limited supplies, are widely recognized, have medium quality, and are of high value on a global scale. Bitcoins, however, can be traded more easily, and as a result of the lack of gold, Bitcoin seems to dominate.

I haven't know the people who say bitcoin is like a gold for the first time. Most likely he say like that cause the way to get bitcoin is mining same with gold. The similiarity make other people be reliant bitcoin is like gold, however if we similize between gold and bitcoin on a function is far different.

Now, gold just like for an investment only or we can say gold is an asset, very rarely the people who have a gold they use as a payment sistem. Nevertheless, bitcoin who have volatility price far different from gold, there is no charateristic be possessed by gold which exist on bitcoin. Payment system, money transfer system very suitable if bitcoin called as digital currency.

yes, we can compare it with gold because between them there are a lot of similarities such as gold has no decay and bit also has the same quality and also holding both of them proved fruitful.

I think neither you nor the 75% of people who believe Bitcoin is digital gold are wrong. In fact, Bitcoin is simply so much more versatile than what most people have ever seen, making it very hard to place in perspective for a lot of people. The general public likes to think of Bitcoin as digital gold because they find both similar in the sense of the concept of backing. Gold has been backed over years because of its rarity. Similarly, Bitcoin is backed by people who believe it has value.

For users like me and you who know more than average about BTC and maybe use these forums to trade for example, it can be considered a digital currency. I've used Bitcoin instead of USD for transactions on this forum and others because it's easier and it's anonymous.

For a developer, for example, the idea may be different again. He/she might just see cryptocurrency as a means to develop blockchain technology for future use cases.

Do you see my point? Bitcoin is very diverse -- nothing like what people have seen before. The general public will define it by what the media dumbs down for them, while each other specialized group can find their own meaning in BTC. That's what I mean when I call Bitcoin versatile.

This area is up for grabs! PM me if you're interested.

I agree with your post. Bitcoins are just digital coin, because bitcoins do not have real value so they can not be compared to gold. Gold is a valuable metal, and they can make many things from gold, so gold is very valuable. Bitcoin is a kind of digital currency, used to trade through the internet, used to replace the currency. Comparing Bitcoin and Gold is pretty lame

I quite agree with you, I really want btc to be like its original purpose as a transaction tool like a currency but in its operation it is simpler because it doesn't use institutions like banks that have many terms and regulations, even I doubt if you combine btc as digital gold it's very risky, because the price of BTC is not as stable as gold, so it all depends on luck, so there are a number of people getting rich, but if we are in the wrong time to make this investment, we will lose everything

They consider it gold maybe because bitcoin does help them a lot. It give them more money than other investments. I observe there are lots of bounty hunters whose lives improve.

i think this "bitcoin is digital gold" nonsense became big last year that bitcoin transaction fees grow a lot and people were starting to say bitcoin is unusable because of it. so some others tried to say bitcoin is only store of value and not a currency and tried convincing others about it too which is why it became a thing.
but in the end nothing will change. bitcoin will remain a currency even if you call it something else.
