I am not trying to dissuade anyone from making their own cables or selling to others if that is is your goal. But please, please overbuild them at a minimum. I have been doing this for two years now with many hundreds of cables in the wild on many different platforms. Just follow that small bit of advice for safety sake. Know what wire gauges and connectors you are using and what they are capable of and please afford yourself 10-20% headroom just in case. With the sizes of the farms I am seeing, fire is a real concern. Be safe and happy mining.

this is so cool!!!! I'm going to run all of my gridseeds - all 24 of them off one single pcie connection. and since my PSU has five more PCEI connections I can run 144! so cool!!! LOL http://i62.tinypic.com/fnss47.jpg

LOL http://i62.tinypic.com/fnss47.jpgA PCIe cable is only rated for 150 watts. I think 24 per is too many... That's like 240 watts.... Try using splitters to get 15 for 150 watts. Although that might be sketchy i dunno, thats why i stopped at 12. I was hoping someone would weigh in on the design i posted earlier. From there I guess you could get 15 but I'm gonna leave a little wiggle room for OCing. You could always buy a PSU with colored wires and separate all the 12v (yellow) and ground wires (black). Use the full power the the PSUs 12v rail and not waste the 12v wires in all the molex/sata/atx connector. I am maybe changing my mind and doing it this way as it will be cleaner and I can put exactly 15 barrel connectors per 3 yellow and blacks instead of maxing out at 12 with the splitters. Tie the 12v coming off PSU to a post and bring you barrel connectors off of that with 8 awg.

Let's all run 1,000 gridseeds with one connector. Then we can have 10,000 gridseeds on one PSU LOL

anyone have any problems with the miner not hashing any shares. It did for a few days but now, just shows new blocks. No change to my bat file and I've tried all the miner software (cpuminer/cgminer/bfgminer). They all produce no shares, but also, no errors...
Any suggestions would be great.
Thanks!

OMG 96 Gridseeds? so you invested like +15.000$$ I am running a Gridseed hosted mining service, so I will be running a lot of them and am trying to come up with the most efficient custom power solution. See the link in my signature. I could switch to a gold rated power supply, but they are expensive and this 1000w has a lot of amps on its 12v rail. To get super custom I could use the 5v coming off the SATA cable to power USB hubs I suppose. So many options.. EDIT: And I messed up with the CPU connectors.. I can only get 88 Gridseeds on there at the moment simply using splitters.

So stepped things up dual mining SHA and Scypt to 800Mhz, and I am getting 6.4GH/s and 340Mh/s avg per gridseed, they get mildly warm but nothing that i would be concerned about. Anyone try dual mining under windows at 850Mhz yet, I dont want to push them too far when mining sha alongside scrypt as the sha asics can get fairly warm. Edit I meat 350Kh/s

Mine hates it... if I clock Sha too high then the scrypt cores hashes red nonces... 750 Sha and 800 scrypt seems to be my max at ~6GH/s on tak.minebig.com and 300+ KH/s at scryptguild. Starting to think scryptguild is causing some low hashrate cuz everyone else is getting better results at or above these clocks at other pools.

Did you get more then one mining sha and scrypt ?

You will need to add a current limiting device between the 72.46A DC rails. What ever the total peak current consumption based on the number of pods you will have connected to it, limit it to that. This way your 72A supply won't fry the little buggers or their wiring if a short occurs. Pppfffffffttttttttt! Of course, do not load the supply down with too many pods. Do this stuff at your own risk.Wolfey2014

So I went back to scrypt.

Umm, you mean 340KHs Scrypt? Surely not MHs..... Ain't possible on a single 5 chip. Still, those are excellent numbers for dual mining! Indeed! And it proves that a lower clock speed is BETTER than higher speeds under this condition. Wolfey2014

Utilizing 12v PCIe Cables: Requirements: 3 PCIe Y splitters and 12 barrel plugs per PCIe Cable PSU -> PCIe cable -> PCIe Y Splitter -> Two PCIe Y Splitters -> Produces 12 hot and 12 ground wires -> 12 barrel plugs per PCIe cable 3 -> 6 -> 12
Technically, the 6 pin pci-e connector is only rated for 75 watts. A 6+2 or 8 pin is rated for 150 watts. So, in theory, the PSU manufacturer could use higher gauge (lower amp) wire in a 6 pin only configuration. Also, if it is a multi-rail PSU, the 6-pin rail may not have enough amps. A PSU I have explicitly has 6 pin and 6+2 pin connectors. If you look at the amperage available on each rail, it explains why.
