I currently have Sha at 750 ant scrypt at 850.

I think one chip can't work on two different freq.
As I remember for Scrypt core used part of BTC core, so maybe these two cores can't work on different freqs.
(but not sure)
Maybe for whole chip used first BTC freq. and second is ignored..

Can somebody confirm is it true or not ?

They simply, can not run two different frequencies at the same time.
One is simply over riding the other - evidently un-noticeably.

Sounds legit... mine at 750/750 seem to be the same as any other combo starting sha at 750... changing to 800 causes nonce errors again in mine... shame.

GS needs to make a firmware update for all of these...

Says it solved the problem with miners quitting out of the blue. No more manual intervention.
Where do get one of these miracle Controllers from? I assume Lighteningasic?

How does one set this up? Using what program or macro program?
I'd love to have something to 'monitor' and restart my miners if one or all of them go down at the same time.....

It is a crude way of resetting the USB ports. That's all... Unworkable for my needs...
I'm looking into macro's...cheaper and easier to manage and it will do exactly what I want when I want it to do it.

I've got a question regarding hardware errors on a Gridseed device....

I've got 1 miner in particular which seems to throw out way more HW errors than the other 9.  Typically the others may throw out 1 HW error from time to time...but this one averages 1 HW error each 1.5hrs or so.

I've tried the following:

1. Swap USB cable
2. Swap power cable
3. Swap USB port
4. Swaped which PSU its connected to

Regardless of what I do it seems this one miner is destined (or perhaps just a bit defective) and will continue to toss out HW errors.

I'm using freq=800 as it seems to be a balance between keeping 1 one from throwing errors and the other ones from "under" performing because I can't tune each miner individually.

My question is not what could be wrong, because I think this is just a crappy unit...but is it bad to keep using this miner and having it throw out HW errors?  I presume it just means this one miner will likely die well before the others?

What are the power requirements from the USB hub in single mode?
Would a powered USB hub with 500mA per port suffice?

So long as the overall hub power is greater than 100mA per port it shouldn't be an issue per the gridseed spec sheet.

The frequency of HW error is too low to worry about. Most likely there is nothing wrong with the unit itself.

Are you using a USB cable that came with the unit or one you had already?

I have discovered I have a handful of USB cables that fit these, but do not power them up AT ALL. Also, zoomhash saw fit to ship mine with a micro USB instead of a mini USB, so I had to use one I already owned.

When you plug it in, does the green light come on and Windows pops up telling you a device was detected? Or you get nothing? If it does pop up... zadig needs to be used per the OP instructions.

I went with cgminer 3.7.2 for gridseed listed here:

and followed the instructions to replace the drivers. There are some quirks, though, as others have mentioned. You have to plug in or enable the miners AFTER you start cgminer, and occasionally the quit returning shares and you have to start the miner over. I'm going to try bfgminer too.

I have had success using Ubuntu server and dtbartle cgminer. No hang ups with the USB ports with 20 miners.

I have a 10 year old Dell Pentium 4. Put Ubuntu 13.4.4 32 bit on it. Did the 5A.1 instructions from here:

I would take it apart and make sure a wire did not get stuck between the chip and the heatsink. When I have time, I will do that for all the miners, but if I had one problem miner, that would be the first thing I check.
