Hi people.

Trying to get these to work on a Ubuntu 20LTS system. I do the compile and the following memory error seems to happen. Anyone know why/what is going on?

Code:
    [2021-01-10 02:16:33.086] Started cgminer 4.11.1
    [2021-01-10 02:16:33.333] 0: GSC 0 - Compac BM1384 Bitcoin Miner (10002513)Segmentation fault (core dumped)
   root@fluffy:/opt/bt/bin#

Any ideas? I have two of them. Both seem to do the same thing.

Code:
 [2021-01-10 02:18:53.549] Started cgminer 4.11.1
 [2021-01-10 02:18:53.549] Started cgminer 4.11.1
 [2021-01-10 02:18:53.875] 0: GSC 0 - Compac BM1384 Bitcoin Miner (10002499)
 [2021-01-10 02:18:53.875] 1: GSC 1 - Compac BM1384 Bitcoin Miner (10002513)Segmentation fault (core dumped)
root@fluffy:/opt/bt/bin#

Thanks in advance.

R606 Frustrations FIXED!

I bought two R606 and 4 Newpacs to start mining. I had many troubles stabilizing my R606 so wanted to share my experience.

First I download the 5/26/2019 version of CGMINER here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5053833.0.

Needless to say I have had some frustrating stability issues for the last 2 weeks trying to fine tune these. I next tried to use the April30 version which caused rejections.

Lastly I download the 5/13/2019 version of CGMINER for GEKKOSCIENCE and tried again. BINGO!!!!!!!! finally stable mining. Get the windows version here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5053833.0 or at https://www.419mining.com and make sure your using the 5/13/2019 Version for R606. I am also using Power Setting 5 (top and bottom red lights lit, Middle light out).

So I have been mining using this bat file command line with high stability. I personally am using antpool and the FPPS earnings type:

Code:
cgminer.exe -o stratum+tcp://ss.yourpool.com:3333 -u userbtcname.worker1 -p yourpassword --gekko-r606-freq 550

Summary: for my R606s they like the 5/13/2019 version of CGMINER only and my R606 like Power Setting 5

P.S I just ramped up to freq of 700 and it's absolutely stable.

Code:
cgminer.exe -o stratum+tcp://ss.yourpool.com:3333 -u userbtcname.worker1 -p yourpassword --gekko-r606-freq 700

Hope this helps someone get their R606 running right. I have been frustrated and this seems like the bext fix. No rejections or weird command errors.

I had another experience, my R606 are running best with 26-05-2019 version, other versions are unstable. I am using setting 4 and running 762 Mhz easy > 1 Th/s.

Hey curious what people set their difficulty to?  I saw on bitmain site they recommend Th*2.3?  And from what I gather ckpool starts at 4k?

I have 4 R606 doing little over 4T and I have it set to 10000.  I don't get any stale shares but ST does sometimes go up to 1 or 2.

It  doesn't really matter.  ckpool pool adjusts automatically so that you submit about 18 shares per minute.

Minimum difficulty just prevents large miners from swamping a pool when they start mining.

HELP - I got two r606 Pods this week, set them up with an Intel NUC running ubuntu server.  They ran fine for a couple of hours then one zombied, and I can't get it to come back.

Settings I was running with were Setting 6 and Frequency set to 700

How do I get this one to reset?

Unplug the power, restart the NUC and plug it in again.

I have reset and rebooted the nuc multiple times, it always reports 0 chips / ZOMBIE mode.  What I have also noticed is the LED inside remains solid amber, I never see it flash as it does on the other one.

Right now I am just going to leave this unit unplugged.  Will try it again in a couple hours.

Could the unit have failed?

Just came here again after months looking for a solution and noticed your post. I have tried everything I can think to resolve the "0CHIPS/ZOMBIE" issue, but 2 of my 606's will not mine beyond approximately 30 minutes. 2 of my 3 units have been 0 CHIPS, and 1 of 2 is units is brand new. The suppliers have been very kind, but I still can't get them running. My 3rd unit has run near perfect at 1TH for a year with normal typical issues and I am very pleased. I hope collectively we can figure this issue out.

Just wanted to say I've had my R606 for about 3 months now and it runs rock solid at 750mhz.  I used the latest cgminer from 419mining site and it runs with 7 Newpacs in one instance for about 1.75 TH/s.  Very happy with my purchase.  As a sidebar does anyone have a Newpac or three they'd like to sell?  I still have 5 slots open on my second Gekkoscience Hub Smiley

Keep up the great work!

are you running it on windows? if so, switch it to linux and watch it gain about 25% with the only change being switching it off windows.

Further to my suggestion/request about a mini inline UPS for the Pi4 I have stumbled upon a decent workaround for now until sidehack has time to get one designed etc (no rush sidehack  Wink).

I'm using a Voltaic V25 USB powerbank. It has Type C input so can be used with the Raspi power supply, so all you need is a good quality Type A to Type C cable to connect the powerbank to the Pi.

I fully charged it and connected it to my Pi4, restarted it and it ran no problem. Waited until cgminer had plateaued all Gekko devices (6x Newpacs, 1x R606) and then unplugged the input/charge cable from the powerbank.

So far its been running for 57mins and has used 2 out of 4 indicators,  so approximately 50% of the capacity.

For me the power never really gets cut here for more than 30mins. Its usually due to the main trip switch going thanks to a bulb blowing. This thing lasting over an hour is pretty darn good, especially when I have a wireless Rii RT518 Keyboard and 7" IPS HDMI screen being powered from the Pi aswell.

Just thought this info may be useful so some of you.

Voltaic makes great products and they have excellent support. I have a few of their V88's that I run with my equipment.

So now the second unit failed, it was reporting zombie - I shut everything down, waited 5 minutes, powered it back up and now it isn't even detected by the pc.  Do these fail this often?  From what I am reading here I don't think I am running anything that shouldn't be stable.  Currently I have been running Setting 5 @ 700 Mhz averaging 950GHs.

What else could be causing this?

Hi, I would really appreciate some help. I'm trying to solo mine Bitcoin using my own full bitcoin node. I know that I will not make ANY money, but I am keen to do it, so your help in this matter is very much appreciated.

I'm using a Windows 10 laptop with a full bitcoin node.

This is what I have done so far:

1. Purchased a Gekkoscience NEWPAC USB Stick ASIC Miner

2. Purchased a powered USB hub + USB fan for cooling.

3. Downloaded Zadig USB driver: I have seen videos online of how to set this up, so I'm OK here.

4. Downloaded and extracted CGminer - I'm not sure this is the latest build (May 26, 2019 @ 9e51f0b - cgminer-4.11.1-windows-gekko-9e51f0b.7z) I got it from here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5053833.0

All the instruction videos online are about setting things up for pooled mining with one of the bit pools online, but that's not what I'm after. Can someone please show me how to configure this so that I am able to do solo mining on my laptop using my own Bitcoin node?

My understanding is that I have to configure the test_mining or single_test_mining batch file. I know that I will have to obviously use my own bitcoin address but what about other configurations?

The current single_test_mining batch file is: cgminer.exe -o stratum+tcp://pool.ckpool.org:3333 --suggest-diff 128 -u "MY BITCOIN ADDRESS 123" -p x --usb :1 2>%LOGFILE%

Can someone please help me set this up?

Please, please bear in mind that I'm not a computer expert or programer, just an ordinary guy who is experimenting with Bitcoin and what I have managed to achieve so far is the limit of my technical ability (I can't believe I have reached this far by myself already!).

Any simplified instructions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much.

Start mining to solo.ckpool.org first.  Once you get that to work correctly then move on to your Bitcoin core node.  There are several threads on how to set that up.  But get mining to solo.ckpool.org first to make sure your equipment is setup correctly.

Thank you, but how do I configure and start this?

Do I alter both the test_mining or single_test_mining batch files to the following:

cgminer -o stratum+tcp://solo.ckpool.org:3333 -u "zzzzMY BITCOIN ADDRESSzzzZ.0 -p x    (this is the configuration on the solo.ckpool website: https://solo.ckpool.org/ )

And then just run the cgminer.exe application?

Thank you for your help

cgminer -o stratum+tcp://solo.ckpool.org:3333 -u "zzzzMY BITCOIN ADDRESSzzzZ.0 -p x

And then just run the cgminer.exe application?

Just run that command line in the CGMiner directory and it should start mining.

You mean I run this cgminer -o stratum+tcp://solo.ckpool.org:3333 -u "zzzzMY BITCOIN ADDRESSzzzZ.0 -p x in the command line in the CGMiner directory without altering anything in the batch files?

Thank you very much.

Sure, you can do that too.  Or you can edit the .bat file and run it.
