Really? I'm genuinely impressed the three-port-shared regulator is able to handle that kind of juice.

the 7 port black one and the 8 port metal one are very similar, the big difference being port 1 was split from the 5/2 group to its own 2A fuse, giving you a full 6A between the two other ports.  Then the 8th port add-on to the port 1 fuse was a freebie to give an extra power port for things like fans and raspberry pi's.

No, the GekkoScience Hub needs alot more power than the 1.5 amps that offers. The recommended is 8 amps if using a barrel type (Laptop style) or 10 amps if your using 6Pin power connector.

We carry both a 7A and 8A barrel connector version that have been approved by GekkoScience. I would recommend you use the 8A, or barring that, use a PC power supply that has a spare PCIE 6 pin Power cable free.

You're right, I was at work in the middle of plastering a ceiling and thought I had seven sticks, but I only have six.... *facepalm*

Odd question...

First my parts:

2x r606
4x newpac w/ cooling fan
1x 7port gekkoscienc hub
1x  POWER SUPPLY / BREAK OUT BOARD / 6 24″ PCIE CABLES (419mining setup)

1x pi3b+ running raspian

Here is the question before the recen change to cgminer my newpacs were getting avg 110gh each

Bought r606 ran update on cgminer now they get 75gh avg... adding the r606 i got maybe comined of 1.2th

Is it possible to run multiple cgminers

1 for the newpacs and 1 for each of the r606
Or is it a waste of thought...

I am not even getting 2th with this setup

Something is not right

Thanks for any feedback

Yes.

A quick search finds a message with this link which provides the command line options for that purpose.

Are you running into a usb bandwith issue on the pi?

I agree with gt_addict, we have noticed the pi's have a hard time with excessive bandwidth. I have a few pi4's on order to see if it makes a difference. they support full USB 3.0 though, so that may be a completely different challenge.

@Gage-Miner, when you run one of your R606's individually, what is your frequency and your hash rate?

Hi, i think you will have a better experience with the Pi4B. I had problems with system lockups (stopped mining, no ssh possible) after some hours on Pi3B / Pi3B+. Connected  were a R606 (550MHz) & 3 Newpacs@350MHz. I have now set up a 1GB Pi4B and no lockup since then (5 days).

Yeah, just tested my r606's on my linux desktop on usb 3.0 as I'm looking at picking up an Odroid XU4.  Problem with it, 1 usb 2.0 and 2 usb 3.0 ports.  On my desktop, once I plugged the r606 into a 3.0 port, they zombied out the first pass.  2nd try, they gave me read / write errors.   And when this occurred, it screwed up all usb ports so would have to reboot the box to correct  Grin

Is this an issue with the r606 themselves for usb 3.0 or is this software related?

On my laptop the USB 3.0 ports work great with the R606's.

Thx, even more complete answer. I am going to try 7 newpac per hub.

Just watch your total power consumption. You cant use more than the input. If you look at it as Watts of power, 12V 8A input would give you 96 Watts of power. 96 watts for 7 newpacs is 13Watts per unit or at 5V, 2.6A per unit... and that doesnt take power loss into account. you may find your more around a limit of 2.3A per unit.

ok, clear.
going to test it by going up in steps with max freq.
200 then 400 then 500 then 600 and see what results are.

when its not possible to reach normal freq with current newpac's i know the hub can't deliver it. But if hub does manage, i can use it.
Think i am going to remove the top of the hub for cooling hub also, using a top down fan to cool it all.
