I just got my shiny new Terminus R606 from 419Mining.  Having the same problem I did with the NewPacs….  It is auto-tuning down.

Currently have it set on 550MHz on voltage setting 4.  It runs for a few minutes, then I hit an ASIC plateau and it goes down to sub 200.  This time it went from a target of 600MHz down to 194.

Running Windows 10 and powered by 8amp barrel cord.

Tried on both the 2.0 and 3.0 USB port.  Tried low boost and no boost.  Tried going to voltage setting 5.  Same end result.

Any ideas?  According to the QRG from 419Mining, "All pods are tested to operate at 550MHz (750GH) at volt setting 4 (OXX) for 24 hours before being shipped out."

Here is the command I am using:

Code:
cgminer.exe -o stratum+tcp://solo.ckpool.org:3333 -u 32v8MSnYvZGg8T2fWiHgUoBD7afrTvsJ7u.R606 -p x --gekko-r606-freq 550 --suggest-diff 128 --gekko-lowboost

And here is the log from CGMiner:

I just got my shiny new Terminus P606 from 419Mining.  Having the same problem I did with the NewPacs….  It is auto-tuning down...

I have two R606's, whats the difference between and R606 and a P606?  How did you fix it with the NewPacs?

Currently have it set on 550MHz on voltage setting 4.  It runs for a few minutes, then I hit an ASIC plateau and it goes down to sub 200.  This time it went from a target of 600MHz down to 194.

Running Windows 10 and powered by 8amp barrel cord...

Mine did that on Win7 when I was going through a USB 2.1 Hub.  I quit using the Hub, I quit using Windoze and ended up with a Pi4 and that fixed everything for me.  Also I never used a brick Power Supply, I used a Computer Power Supply and plugged into the PCIE Port.

Edit: If your hell bent on using Winblows try the "May 13, 2019 @ a62385f" version of CGMiner not the latest one.  That one would do about 631.25Mhz at 804GHs on Power Level 5 for me on my Win7 machine.

The Pi4 runs the two of mine at 725 Mhz for 1.95Ths total.  Again you wont get that rate with the Brick Power Supply.

Mistype.  It is the R606.  I edited above.  And I never did fix it on the NewPacs.  Sold them and figured I would try 1 device instead of dealing with hubs, etc.

Yeah, I have heard that Windows is very finicky with these.  I don't want to invest in another computer.

Ill certainly try the other version, thank you.

Also, I restarted the program and this time it seems to be stable here.  Still not ideal, but I will continue to tweak it.  Thanks!

Maybe bump your power level up to 5 after getting the 85f version of CGMiner.

Also keep in mind the factory burn in was done on a Ubuntu Debian Linux machine.  That does make a big difference.  I think you can install Ubuntu along side of a Win10 installation.

I tested with my laptop which I setup to dual boot to Win7-Ubuntu-OS/2.  So I was a able to do objective testing on the same hardware with Win7 and Ubuntu 18.04.  Under Ubuntu I was able to go up to 800Mhz, 1.012Ths, which I would not recommend, but it was stable.  Win7 only went up to 668.75Mhz for 838GHs.

Factory burn-in is done on a Debian machine.

Would that be functionally different from Ubuntu 18.04?

Edit: Isn't Ubuntu a Debian distro?

Got a question i am not sure if its been asked. I have a i5 laptop that runs all of my gekkoscience usb miners. But i ran into a problem
What i have-
1.
7 Gekko science NewPacs
Gekko science Board with a Fan
2. Another
7 Gekko science NewPacs
Gekko science Board with a Fan
3. 5 2pacs with a offbrand usb hub
4. 5 compacts with its board

So i am having trouble with running the second board of 7 newpacs. No matter what combination i try it just wont work. I tried only new pacs together it wont work. I tried one board with an 8th new pac it wont work. I can runn 7 newpacs all 2pacs and compacts together with no problems but as soon as i add another newpac it wont work. How can i run more then 7 newpacs?

Thank you.

are you receiving a specific error from cgminer or does the computer just not detect the 8th unit?

Could be running into usb bandwith issues? Have you tried clearing the com ports?

On a different note (to keep posts down),

Is there anyway to calculate power draw of newpacs and r606 without having to use a kill-a-watt meter? Doesnt have to be that accurate.

I swear I read there a “pause” option you could put at the end of the .bat file to stop the screen closing.

example for me plz

Could someone post a sample .bat file about how to set up a single miner to cycle between different pools? ie, I'd like it to mine partly on the solo pool for part of the day, then switch to the pooled pool for another part of the day. Just as a workaround until I get a second unit. The FAQ in cgminer lists the options but not how to actually type them in, and none of my attempts have worked.

At the end of your cgminer line press enter twice and that would start a new line. Just type pause and then save it. It should stop the window from closing until you press a key. That way you should be able to see what error(s) there are.

So a couple of questions for everyone here before I try... I am thinking of purchasing the gekkoscience hub science I plan on running four miners. First is this the best price for money or does someone have another hub to recommend that would be cheaper since I do not plan on adding more than 4. Second, if I purchase a gekkoscience hub would I be able to use my old BFL 12 V 10 A power supply? I'm a little afraid of adding the extra amperage unless someone assures me it's ok to do as I don't know the protections in the gekkoscience hub. Thanks, everyone!
Also if anyone is looking to sell a miner or a hub PM me.

Gekkohub is the beat one by far. The extra amperage on the brick doesnt mean its pushing the whole 10a into the hub. The hub will only draw what it needs. Seeing as you will only be running four sticks you will under the 8a limit of the connector anyway.

Although I am probably the last person who should be giving advice on the GekkeScience products (horrible luck) - I found 2 hubs to work.  The GekkoScience hub and the Plugable USB 2.0 7-Port High Speed Charging Hub with 60W Power Adapter.

Due to capacitor spacing, I believe you can only run 3 overclocked GekkoScience miners, not 4.  But it does work and good spacing for airflow.  Only issue I had with that unit was it became top heavy since the port itself it light.  I had to weigh it down.

Running two GekkeoScience hubs here with 6 newpacs each @650 MHz, no problem at all (lot of fans on them to cool). Tried several hubs, none of them where able to do this.

Just out of curiosity, are you running them on windows 10?  I couldn't get them to stop auto tuning down.

Better than what I got.  Just wasn't in the mood to tinker with them.  One thing about the Antminers - set and forget.
