i have issue rig stil mining but ethermine status 0 mhs reported sometimes in 2-3days mining, randomly happen

share continue nothing change but reported hashrate gone and avegare & current status  slowly downturn, seems weird, no error happening on console/miner

right now i tried different dns, something weird happen lately

this happen atleast when defi craze start, at first september, i.m using 0.6.1 btw, skipped 0.7.9 cause using 2% more power consumption

any idea new version trm will come out?

why not see this version on first page on this topic?
i see 0.7.9 last version.

My apologies. I've been slacking a bit on updating the main page.

Hi! Just an explanation around the performance of 0.6.1 vs later versions. I've done some posts around it in our discord, but always good to provide the info here as well.

So, 0.6.1 is indeed a little more efficient. It's using a better choice of memory instructions than later versions. However, there's a big downside: the more efficient instructions won't work for > 4GB DAG, so after epoch 384 TRM 0.6.1 is dead for ETH. We chose to take the hit early and ship a generic version that can handle large epochs without any specific driver support. The 2% efficiency loss is from having to handle some aspects with compute instructions that in 0.6.1 is handled by the hardware. It would have been good to keep the older/more efficient kernels as well though, using them for as long as possible.

We are looking to do a kernel rewrite in the near future, I'd be hoping to maybe trim some fat off of those 2%, ending up somewhere between 0.6.1 and 0.7.15 in terms of efficiency. For raw hashrate, the differences are minimal.

Teamredminer 0.7.16 beta - support for Turtlecoin's new algo trtl_chukwa2

We've released a beta version with support for the Turtlecoin fork. No point upgrading unless you want to mine Turtlecoin.

Quote
Changes in v0.7.16b

BETA RELEASE - adds Turtlecoin's new algo chukwa2. Not tested as rigorously as other versions. Only use for the Turtlecoin fork.

NOTE: Navi gpus are NOT supported on chukwa2 for now. Support will be added if there's sufficient interest.

Release notes:
- Added algo trtl_chukwa2 for the Turtlecoin fork on 2020-10-22.

I installed the new version 0.7.15.
Pool - ethermine, RAVE OS
Card - Msi RX 5500XT, 4 GB
Yesterday her hash became 95KH/S !!
Put it on phoenix, on ELLA - got 27MH / s
I tried to prescribe the DAG-File limitation,"--eth_4g_max_alloc=374", "--eth_4g_max_alloc=4078",  it does not help
Sapphires 470 4GB work great in the same Rig.
Should the PX 5500XT 4GB be supported by Team Red?

Ah man... I'm sorry to say I've completely forgotten about the 5500XT being another 4GB card. We only provide the special 4GB kernels for Polaris/Ellesmere right now. We need to include Navi versions of these kernels as well. Probably need to get a 5500XT to test as well. Thanks for mentioning.

Btw was this mining ETH or ETC? For ETC it's expected, hitting a pretty high epoch now.

Well, I just ordered an express delivery of a 5500XT 4GB, should be arriving in 4h. Still need some dev work and testing after that, but I'm hopeful about being able to handle it and put out a beta in 24h or so.

EDIT: can you tell me what amdgpu-pro driver version you're running on in RaveOS?

i think sometimes missing reported hashrate  cuased by dns, i change norton dns and now 4 days quite stable,

thx advance for explanation for efficency, any idea how much vega hashrate for chikwa2?

before fpga take control, turtle mining very profitable in early days. just hoping new algo favor to gpus

Those using Ubuntu/TRM what are you using for fan speed control?  I have it working but looking into controlling the fan speed now:)

Thanks

I've been using the PPT for years - it works perfectly for maintaining target temp on both polaris and vega.  For navi, it works fine if you want to control for junction temp.  The problem is that mem temp is usually the concern on navis, so i have to set the target junction temp really low, but when ambient drops, the fans slow down and mem temp skyrockets again. There's a bit to select which sensor you're targeting (edge, junc, or mem) but it doesn't seem to work in current drivers Sad

Does anyone have TRM running under Ubuntu 20.4?  I have it running(normal hashrate) but it randomly locks up. I tried lowering the mem allocation, did nothing.

I am using Ubuntu 20.4 and Amdgpupro 20.30.  I was thinking maybe swap file is to small(5 gigs as I have 4 gigs ram) or maybe the root partition is too small(7gigs)

Any advice would help.

Thanks

Well, I had hoped someone that was using it and had some confirmed data would pitch in. We pretty much just send whatever the user passes on the command line to the pool, and we have 4096 bytes available for it.

Have you tested what Nanopool writes in their FAQ, i.e. specify
Code:
-u <wallet>.<worker>/<email>
on the TRM command line?
