True that even I'm not able to find the review for VEIL on the proof of review website but their twitter handle clearly has a tweet for the same. So, I guess, it's better if we ask proof of review website for it.
https://twitter.com/ProofOfReview/status/1093575247750676481

I already have sent a couple of messages to PROOF OF REVIEW team regarding VEIL review but never got an answer.

I tried on all available social media channels and with email, of course. That is why I asked about it finally here in the thread.

I see some activity here in this thread so I still hope to get the answer.

Thanks for letting us know about the missing review. I contact PoR a few days ago that they accidentally had the review removed, and they are currently working to get it back up on the website. I will let you know once it is back up on their website.

I find the project and the team quite successful. But even though Zcoin warned them about the Zerocoin protocol, I don't understand why they insist on Zerocoin. Veil would have been in a much better place right now if it hadn't been for that insistence. Probably the price could have been 4x more.

But the latest information I've learned is that Veil has now given up on this insistence and decided to continue through a different protocol, so I hope they succeed because I wish them all the best.

Thanks for letting us know about the missing review. I contact PoR a few days ago that they accidentally had the review removed, and they are currently working to get it back up on the website. I will let you know once it is back up on their website.

Thank you very much, please just use my username in a post or quote me to send me a reminder.

Of course, PM is also good but I use Maggiordomo bot and that is why it is enough to mention my username or @username in a post to notify me.

I advise every Bitcointalk member to look at Maggiordomo bot and set him up because this is the best tool I have ever used on this forum.

You will never miss anything which is related to you on the forum  Cheesy.

Getting back to the review subject I am very curious what is the opinion and overall score for the VEIL project?

I have to say that other reviews from PROOF OF REVIEW (https://proofofreview.com/reviews/) are really detailed and accurate.

Already more as a week passed and I haven't received any reminder regarding this missed VEIL review created by PROOF OF REVIEW (https://proofofreview.com/reviews/).

OP will you be so kind and update what is going on and how far you are with the process of recovering this review?

Sure. We're currently just waiting on PoR to put it back up. Most likely it was removed by accident.

I contacted them again and they'll be updating me about status soon.

Please feel free to contact PoR yourself to confirm that we did use their services and that the review was removed by accident.

Thank you for this very fast answer and additional PM with more explanations and attached proves that indeed this missing review problem is already being resolved.

I have no reasons to not believe you that this was done by a mistake and will wait for your next update when PROOF OF REVIEW will put the review back online.

Of course, I will check their website from time to time, which I do anyway and will be happy to finally read this VEIL review when published again.

Thank you one more time and sorry that I was not patient enough. I've always been bathed in hot water  Wink.

Hi wwzsocki,

Thanks for understanding and your patience. We're currently providing more details to PoR to give people more information about the project, but here is a link to view the original review: https://proofofreview.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/VEIL_v1.1-.pdf

Thank you very much, OP I really appreciate this.

I see this is a very detailed review as always by Proof of Review service and will have to read it a little bit later to be able to concentrate me accordingly.

I will edit this post or write a new one with a full review of the VEIL project when I finish reading linked content.

You say that this review is old and there are already many improvements added to the VEIL project.

Can you tell me what that is or where to find detailed information?

You're welcome Smiley. Sorry for the late reply. There's been major technical changes since launch. Aside from usual bug fixes and stability improvements, we did have to remove Zerocoin privacy due to a vulnerability that affected coins based on the Zerocoin protocol. Currently most of Veil's development efforts are going towards RingCT-based staking, new privacy protocol Sonic to replace Zerocoin, and new desktop wallet and mobile wallets.

No problem at all with the late reply and I have already read the VEIL review and exactly as I thought Proof of Review described VEIL as a great project but indeed this is an old review and all actual developments and changes are not included there, but I already have read about VEIL latest development and changes on your blog.

I hope VEIL will finally find the way to top 50 on CMC with such a dedicated team and ongoing development. There is a lot of work marketing-wise also to spread the word about VEIL because today we have already 3000 cryptocurrencies and this is not so easy to be visible between such a strong concurrence.

Do you have any marketing plans for the near future or actually all your efforts are concentrated only on development?

Some project does nothing marketing-wise saying that if they deliver a real product which will be widely used this will be enough to be widely recognized but I can't agree with such a statement. If this would be true then big companies like Amazon or Coca-Cola would not spend millions on advertising. Even the biggest companies could be forgotten if there is not enough about them in the media. So such a new crypto project has to do something extraordinary to make it possible without any advertising.

Do you guys have plan to list this coin to binance?
I think if you added Veil into big exchanges it will get more exposure so more exposure more volumes to come and it might also help to push the price high.

I'm still holding veil in my wallet I got them from bounty before I hope that I will see this coin will getting rank in Coingecko and CMC.

I just aware if you said about sonic. I have a question about can I still use zero coin right now? or is it already disabled? I'm wanna sending my veil and I'm feeling worry about that because I have been always using zero coin to send veil. I hope you can consider to create a new desktop wallet that doesn't forced us to update the wallet to be fully synched with the network.

Solved my  problem by downloading the latest Veil's snapshot and replacing the obsolete blocks, chainstate, indexes and zerocoin folders by those ones contained in downloaded zip-file.

I'm stuck on block 450159
will try downloading the latest snapshot to get back on the righttrack

this is usually the best way to go or there are simpler and faster fixes?

still no plans for a lighter wallet, right?

They've had light / mobile wallet plan for quite a while but sadly haven't made any progress yet. I was getting constant sync problem and I gave up, Will be on a look out though.. when there's some progress on mobile wallet or hardware wallet support, I'll be back in.

Thank you for your feedback asriloni. Yes, you can still use zerocoin to transact, but be aware of this change (from v1.0.4.4 release notes) as we move to transition to RingCT-only staking, and then to Sonic:

Light Zerocoin
Zerocoin will now have its reliance on zero knowledge proofs completely disabled. A zerocoin will now behave much more like a normal UTXO based transaction does. This results in a large reduction in transaction size, much quicker transaction validation, and fast transaction creation.

Hey Lucas. You can try these steps if you get stuck on a block:

1. Go to Settings > Advanced options > Console > and type in command getbestblockhash
2. Copy the result that the wallet gives you.
3. Paste that result into this command: reconsiderblock PASTERESULTHERE

No ETA yet as to light and mobile wallets, but these are planned for development. We'll be happy to share the updates on it as the information becomes available.

thx a lot for the updates @LuckyBtc and @veilMaDOS
I ended up downloading the snapshot and the wallet seems to be working again now.

but definitely will get back to this thread if I need it again in the future

my biggest concern atm is the size of blockchain, 17 gb is quite a lot already.
do you have this in mind?

Great to hear that you have it working. Smiley Minimizing transaction size is something that the team is looking into for the future, and was one of the requirements when deciding on the new privacy protocol Sonic. You can read about it in our update from May.
