I have to hand it to the fuckers.
Never a fan of private builds, but I wish someone had said it out loud.

Minerbabe

As a Windows user, you don't need to know anything about Linux to install Minerbabe.
The reasons I initially discarded it was a) not open source, b) Linux based.
I thought I had to manually configure everything, and since my rigs where on Windows I hesitated and couldn't be bothered.
It's also partly Minerbabe's fault for not having a detailed guide.

Thought to give it a go, because rewards have plummeted on c29, and my hardware is for c31 anyways.
Disconnected my SSD & booted from USB drive, and...

BOOM

MY VEGA's64 ARE ALIVE, mining c31.

The 3% Dev fee is really worth it to mine c31.
I noticed it connects to f2pool for that.
Also:
https://www.grin-forum.org/t/analyzing-minerbabe-suspicious-ip-traffic/2282/5
I think the answer was adequate.

NVDIA (1080ti) rig will follow as soon as I find another USB drive.
It doesn't matter if Bminer has a higher graph rate on c29 - it does not support c31 yet (rewards doubled).

I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass ... and I'm all out of bubblegum.

i'm running a node (on a google hosted micro instance) and noticing it lagging on chain height all the time - despite plenty of connections reporting true chain height

anyone else see behavior like this?

Sorry hijack

I have built an initial position with funds I am happily prepared to lose.  I have waiting for Grin for almost a year and wouldn’t forgive myself if this one got away.

That said I won’t be buying again above 0.0005 BTC and then only in small bites to dollar cost average down.

Saucy monkey, HairyMaclairy  Grin

Did I mention that mining Grin gives me a hard on like the one I experienced mining BTC in 2013. Only even better.
It has only been ten days  Roll Eyes

Can I be honest?

I love the tech but think the infinite emissions policy is broken.

And the dev team haven’t put themselves in a strong position by announcing there will be regular hard forks.

So soon enough someone will hard fork it with a 4 year halvening cycle.

Which begs the question - what happens to Grin with a contentious hard fork?

Well that's like asking back in 2014, what will happen to ETH with all these smart contracts?
Or what will happen to DASH with all these MN projects.
You get the picture, & I think you also agree because you just said that you love it Wink
Time will tell.

Guys, can you recommend if where could I host a Linux OS safety as my grin wallet?
I'm a windows user and I don't have much space on my laptop to install a virtual machine OS.

Planning to use the website host from hostgator or goddy that you can access via SSH could you think is it worth to use as wallet?

I think that you should not use dedicated machines.
The current cost of hard drives will allow you to purchase either an external hard drive or an internal hard drive. And on it already install Linux.
For example 100gb ~ ebay16$ or external HDD ebay ~19$
Sorry for my English. This google translator.

I'm also a Windows-guy but I remember there used to be ways to run Linux from USB (though last time I talked about was like... 11 years ago).
A quick search brought me to this guide: https://www.tecmint.com/install-linux-os-on-usb-drive/
I've done a quick read through it and it seems to be a good guide, maybe that'll be what you'll need!

Is there an ANN thread in bitcointalk.org or the official grin forum?

because I feel uneasy of trusting them without any user comments.

Could be a virus chest.

Well I haven't found one, but I think that GrinPro's team is related to Ace miner:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5097693.0

Both miners passed my security check, but that doesn't really say much.

Ace is apparently a ripoff of GGM.  Grin Pro is from the GGM dev: https://grinpro.io/

Who says that Grin Pro is from GGM dev?

Is there anyone to vouch for this miner?

"ツ" aka "Tsu" was adopted as the official currency symbol of the project.

Bad idea IMO since ツ is so common in Japanese. It'd be like using the letter "G" as their symbol.

Yes, it may be odd particularly for Japanese, but ツ can be used for counting almost everything.
The following site is good to grab the meaning of ツ.

https://www.tofugu.com/japanese/japanese-counter-tsu/
"The Japanese counter 〜つ is probably the most useful counter you can learn. It just counts… "things." And when we say "things," we really mean it: it can count literally anything. That's pretty broad, though, so let's break it down into various categories."

That's why Japanese Grin supporters haven't denied ツ to be used as Grin's symbol as far as I know.

Seriously though no worries on that photo, plenty of people have posted things that show much more information with zero consequences.

I was being strict with Bob, and taking advantage of the situation, to knock some sense in to him, that things like that are not to play with.
We shouldn't push our luck.

On that happy note, here is the IRS Daily Quiz:

Roughly so, but you don't need to know anything about Linux. Windows user would do just fine.

Also Grin miner hardcore Linux doggy style available. Grin
