If the decision of distributing the money evenly between all boards is taken, it is going to hurt the earnings of the big 4 and that's why it's obvious why they did not agree with this decision. I really hope that the ICC will stop being a pussy. ICC should have authority over all cricket boards. The cricket boards will have to listen to ICC in this matter but it feels like that is never the case. This could have been a wise decision taken by the ICC even though it does feel like it could have been a bit unjust for the teams in the big four. But that would have been the most sensible decision overall.
Well... this is easier said than done. In the past, the BCCI had threatened on multiple occasions to pull out of ICC tournaments, if they don't get what they want. And I don't expect anyone in ICC to antagonize the BCCI, especially since the ICC chairman (Greg Barclay, from New Zealand) is a nominee from the pig-4. Let's just hope that the BCCI won't object to a fair revenue distribution regarding the ICC funds, given the fact that they just received more than $6 billion from the IPL media rights auction.

You are pointing in right direction, that's the main reason big 4 don't want new countries specially china, Russia or USA to join in since that will break the dominance of big 4 in cricket. ICC has not control on big 4 and they can do whatever they want. Remember how Newzealand pulled out of Pakistan tour last year.

Yeah, i agree BCCI do consider their players as premium assets (more like cash cow). For business point of view i don't see anything wrong in it, actually quite amazing to see them tackling everything (even their fuckups) as far as i understand that's the only reason IPL gets the big fat checks. There is a reason IPL is worth more than All ICC tournaments + Major T-20 leagues put together. IPL is BCCI's brand so why would they risk their brand value by releasing their players. For cricketing point of view yes it's very frustrating because local players (especially uncapped and retired) don't get to play in other leagues and gain valuable experience but BCCI is in this business for profits like every cricket board. If we are talking about profits I am inclined to agree that India is doing very well in that matter with cricket. Obviously, India is one of the world's leading cricketing nations and they have been one of the elite since Kapil Dev won the world cup for India. I don't think India ever had to look back from that point. If I'm not mistaken, money was not the strongest point of the Indian team at that time. But now we all know that things have changed and India has become a superpower in cricket. All thanks to the money that they generate. As a cricket fan, I am not able to 100% support what they are doing. However, at the same time, I have to admit that everything they are doing right now is making them a lot of money. This is also not negatively impacting the team. Duke BCCI power lies in Indian cricket fans, that's what gives them edge when crunching numbers. Indian fans are hungry for cricket related content or any content in general and willing to pay fair amount of bucks. In contrast just look at recent SL vs Pak test series, it didn't generated big money and result it's streaming in youtube for free. We can't think this scenario with any Indian series even dead rubber matches. Yeah BCCI had virtually no money at that time, they were dirt poor and didn't even had money to give any prize money to their 1983 WC winning team. There is a story that Late Lata Mangeshkar had to do concert, so that BCCI collect enough money for prize money. 1991-92 was the key point when economy liberalisation happened. Although BCCI wasn't big player in early 2000 too. Board was generating okay money but not big ones. Turning point was IPL, it changed literally everything. Having said that BCCI still have lot to learn in terms innovation, including tech related stuff (On field data of players). Supporting 100% sounds more like -Black and White- kind of argument to me. I like to see all BCCI drama in grey or any cricket board in general.

BCCI is no doubt the king at the moment and it become the king as 1.3 billion people in India are crazy for cricket. BCCI is doing what England and Australia used to do in 90s when bcci was just like any small board. Due to IPL everything is under bcci control, the icc and rest of boards.

They are already controlling ICC and all other boards do know that therefore they are unable to unite on one point. IPL is the biggest success story for BCCI and it will remain like that for many years to come.

BCCI is also in their position right now where they will be able to work on their own without any help. So it is not going to be really great for ICC if they oppose something against the BCCI. India also knows that they have a very good position right now in the ICC. And they are using that power quite well in my opinion. Obviously, India is the biggest cricket-playing nation right now. And the fan following which India has in the country is also unbelievable. There is not going to be anything like the IPL also. It doesn’t matter how much the other Cricket board is trying to do so. Because they simply don’t have the crazy fan following in their own country which India does.

Yes, even after the start of different T20 cricketing leagues no league is able to be popular as IPL. The game got started at the right time, and the plan of franchise making is really good. As said even if some event like World IPL happens, if isn't a surprise. Already IPL teams have turned themselves a brand and CSK one of the franchise have bought a team in South Africa league and the name too is supposed to be CSK Johannesburg.

While IPL's teams were limited to India until now, it is now spreading globally. This is really good. As a result cricket will expand. And the general audience will be more attracted to cricket.

Cricket and in particular T20 format has recently achieved so much money and popularity globally and one of the key players is BCCI because it conducts IPL. After adding two new teams to IPL I think the fan base of IPL has increased and that is why the revenue from media rights rose so much.

IPL was a long tournament and people didn't show much interest unless it reaches to the quarterfinal. even in India people didn't have time to follow all the initial matches - there are so many teams in IPL on the other hand PSL has only 4 teams and it was far better than IPL

There are many countries that are willing to join T20I format since ODI and test is not liked by majority of the countries that are member of ICC. These franchises also help players that do not able to make it to international teams, to earn money and see the world.

There is no doubt BCCI is big player in ICC all system but with this now we have to say that now they are the most dirty player in this game as well because as being superpower doing wrong things never been allowed, and they are using these all tactics with this all most of the peoples feeling they could be at top I also agree here, but again it's not mean you are alone you have other competitors as well even you are enjoying this all game with the help of Pig-4, but all starts having an end and surely this could be also going to end, and we will have new start from there which could be much better and brighter for many others and countries which are currently suffering from these dirty policies of these Pig-4. You never stop these countries from joining cricket this is going to take some time, but surely they are coming in this setup and going to take their share and also going to play their role as well for positive future of cricket in presence of these crap Pig-4.

BCCI strength is now IPL due to IPL everyone is obeying whatever bcci says whether its small boards like Srilanka, Bangladesh or icc. Due to IPL there is no international cricket for 2 months and that's where icc events are suffering. Its in interest of big 4 that cricket remain concentrated to few countries.

Every sports now days is a money game any sports does not have money involved in it then no one will be interested. Cricket and in particular T20 format has recently achieved so much money and popularity globally and one of the key players is BCCI because it conducts IPL.
After adding two new teams to IPL I think the fan base of IPL has increased and that is why the revenue from media rights rose so much.
IPL was a long tournament and people didn't show much interest unless it reaches to the quarterfinal. even in India people didn't have time to follow all the initial matches - there are so many teams in IPL on the other hand PSL has only 4 teams and it was far better than IPL Why would anyone watch all the matches of the IPL? (Except it's related to their jobs) How many times we watch all matches in the World Cup? Even hard core cricket fans don't follow every team's fixtures in the WC as they focus in high profile games, casual cricket fans only follow rivalry-matches only and so it's a same with the IPL.

I don't think so, because of the timing in which IPL matches start. Around 7:30 pm the match begins. This is the time by which most of the people sit to watch what have taken place around the world. During the time of IPL fixtures, the people who are watching the world happening will start watching IPL matches. One day if it interests, the next day onwards particular person will sit to watch IPL.

As day by day life is going to be tough for many around the glob, surely no one is caring about this all and have no enough time to watch these games like me is also one of these. In last IPL I just have 3 or 4 games live on TV otherwise mostly I was busy with my schedule and have no enough time for this all because other things are more important than this all now. Even I was hard core fan of cricket for very long time but currently economic situation is bringing us deep down very badly and just having some updates and checking on sites is good daily doze for us if IPL is increasing teams and time then surely it's profitable for organizers, and they are going to have big profit, but we have to manage this all with our timetable which is more important.

3-4 years ago, I used to watch almost all the IPL matches live. But now I don't do that. For this season (2022), I watched only 5-6 matches live. Party due to the repetitiveness, and then partly due to lack of free time. An average IPL match lasts for 3.5 to 4 hours and if we watch one of these matches, then the entire spare time for that day is gone. On the other hand, EPL matches last for around 1.5 hours. And the EPL season stretches for many months and most of the matches are being played on weekends. But IPL is having a jam packed schedule and all the matches will be played and completed in 2 to 2.5 months.

In Indian context timezone argument is correct as it's a prime time slot and families do get together and watch some action during dinner or so but no one can sit 4 hour on the trot for month. 1-2 hour yeah sure that happens all the time. Not counting other subcontinent nation. Oceania countries especially Australia and NZ hardly watch IPL due to timezone (IPL do have fan following tho) unless someone has some stake in it like their fav players, franchise etc. Eng,SA,WI etc do have fair amount of audience but majority of em only follow their local players.
