Can  anyone explain what is the fuss about this bytecoin update called multi signatures. I don't understand what’s good about it. Does it provide a higher level of anonymity?

If I was a developer, I would always conceal my personal details at least for security reasons. I'm concerned about possible persecution by the government and abuse by hackers.

Just an observation. I've seen several people trying to throw shade on Bytecoin using developer's anonymity as an argument.
Why in this world would anybody tell their real names when the coin is anonymous, moreover it's all about anonymity? As @Levis said before, staying anonymous is safer

If they don't like anonymity they better not deal with crypto. Go to the bank, get another credit card, you will know all the names and you will have to provide yours. Undecided
Not knowing Bytecoin's devs real names does not bother me at all.
So far i'm enjoying my experience with Bytecoin and i'm sure it will keep getting better and better. Btw, Bytecoin price is going up on coinmarketcap again Cheesy.

Bytecoin's Statement on Potential CryptoNote Vulnerability:
http://bytecoin.org/news#09-04-14

It says

Quote

Bytecoin’s Statement on Potential CryptoNote Vulnerability

The Bytecoin team would like to reassure all interested parties of Bytecoin’s highest security standards. Despite the fact that one of the CryptoNote currencies is experiencing a network split, Bytecoin has not been subject to any network anomalies.

Bytecoin’s support team operates around the clock and utilizes a real-time risk control system that triggers alerts when suspicious activity is captured in the blockchain or the network. The alerts are analyzed for further investigation and action decisions. This permitted our developers to release an updated daemon containing a pre-emptive patch that is available on the Bytecoin website.

The Bytecoin team has been working over 4 years on the code base and has been paying close attention to its quality. Each line of code is thoroughly scrutinized for potential vulnerabilities and peer-reviewed by the developers.

Presently, the Bytecoin team is working on a multi-signature API implementation and CryptoNote core/protocol development. The next significant feature scheduled for release later this week provides smart solutions for Bytecoin-accepting businesses.

Our key objective is to continue providing a support service of the highest standard and to add features to increase Bytecoin’s presence in the enterprise and the community.

Our support team will readily answer any question you may have in connection with this statement.

You're missing the point entirely. There is no problem with their real names not being known. What must be known is their identity. There are many, many people involved in cryptography projects whose real name is not known, but you can search for their nickname and find blog posts and comments and archived mailing list emails and forum posts from years and years back. In other words, they are known identities even if they're not known personally.

So far we have not found anyone who can vouch for Bytecoin's pre-March 2014 existence who is a known identity.

I'm not an expert, but I know that multi-signature transactions are encoded in the protocol to make it more efficient and secure. And it's about time we see multi-signatures are used more widely!

Is that the best you can do?

We also do not know the identity of the people or person behind the concerted effort to keep half a dozen Monero threads on the front page of the ALT section at all times.

Instead of obsessing over someone elses coin why don't you stick to developing your own coin and keep us informed of your own developments and efforts? Same for Smoothie!  Grin

Perhaps you could do so on this thread?

btw - I always thought that the ZeroCash guys were treading on thin ice - do you think that the Elites will seriously let us have this technology without a fight?

Is this true that Bytecoin is the second project by Satoshi Nakamoto since he decided to fix the errors that had been made in Bitcoin? Just curious, I read it in some article, but I'm not sure if it’s true.

Newbie 10 posts. Why don't you go back to your Monero thread bumping duties.

he's not wrong, its clearly confusing and prevents further adoption. XMR has done MORE IN 3 MONTHS what BCN say they've done in 2 years. Either BCN devs are not working or XMR devs are geniuses.

i know trying to hide a 80% premine takes a lot of work, but come on guys! your code is shitty! you need to stop whinning and get to work because as of now you put shame to the cryptonote technology.

just yesterday, there was a big bug that extended to every CN coins and you guys did nothing !! xmr was attacked and they were the first to deliver the fix. that is not serious at all for a 2 years old currency. it also means that BCN isnt even worthy of being attacked. do you realize that? XMR is only a few months old and they already made plenty of ennemies. I thought you guys were the revolutionnaries ! where is robespierre? where is danton?

Even ducknote that is 3 months old is better than you!

I heard a different version which I like better, a funny one -  that Bytecoin is another project by Satoshi who started it  because he had lost the keys to his BTC wallets. Unfortunately I don’t think we’ll ever find which one is true.

why no dev gui wallet?
why ? why?
bytecoin > BTC

Do you actually need one at this moment in time?
The CLI does everything a gui wallet can do.
Things like the multi signatures and further API development, as well as security, of course are much more interesting for the long term. Bytecoin is not a pump & dump and is here for the long term.
