I don't know, somehow I'm not super excited for another episode of Adesanya Vs Pereira. It would be a good fight, sure, but each of them has potentially better fights.
After Izzy got manhandled by Stricland, I don't think moving to light heavyweight would be a good move. He did try that already and failed.

And it's 3:1 for Pereira  . Izzy needs another 2 wins just to get even.

Indeed he has more popularity thanks to belt and social media algorithms. Everyone wants to parasite on his name. What we know about Strickland, most people think he is dumb, a lot of people like him for that. Costa is on hype because he looks like a monster, had some trashtalk with Chimaev, he is more media person. Du Plessis is kind a phenomenal, because no one cant explain how he beats best of division with such weird fighting style, strikes or who the hell he is. What Strickland is famous for ? Nope, Adesanya had no say on who he'll fight next.  That's not how it works in the UFC.  It's the UFC that proposes an opponent and it's up to the fighter if chooses to sign the contract or not.  DDP was the first guy who got the offer to fight Adesanya but DDP refused because as he said, he wouldn't have had enough time to prepare as he just fought Whittaker at the time.  So on they went to give Strickland the offer which he immediately accepted.

As a champion he probably had some say, i.e. if he refused to fight someone, UFC would find him someone else, maybe on a different date. UFC had quite a few fussy fighters, who were picky about who and when they wanted to fight (e.g. Jon Jones or GSP).
Obviously, since Volkanovski couldn't fight in Sydney this time, they needed some other Australian-enough star to headline the main event - Adesanya. And Strickland, who prides himself in accepting any fight, was the 2nd best opponent for Izzy, after DDP.
Strickland, on paper, was a very convenient rival for Izzy (proved by bookies' odds), so I'm sure he was very happy to sign the contract.

Oh for sure a title holder who has a lot of pull and some clout like McGregor could pull some strings and get what he wants.  Adesanya could be one of those guys and prolly Volk and Jon Jones.  Guys who could sell PPV's...  And yes, fighters have a choice if they want to sign up for the fight or not.  That's why we have the interim title in the UFC.  It's when the champ doesn't want to accept any fight but the UFC doesn't want to stop the division from progressing.

Well, in just 1 year Adesanya lost his title twice and now it is really considered impossible for him to regain his title but for me I still have confidence that there is a big opportunity for Adesanya to challenge Stickland again and fight for the title he once had like before when he took the belt from Alex Pereira.
Even though he is 34 years old his fighting ability cannot be underestimated.

Here I slightly agree with what Pereira said namely that Adesanya needs to rest first and prepare everything to fight for the title again and when it comes to lifestyle Adesanya is indeed more similar to Conor in the past still getting glory from the UFC.

He certainly doesn't look his age. He looks like he's mid-to-late twenties and acts like a teenager. Everyone ages differently, and I think he might be one of those people who can stay in great shape even past the 40. But there's another factor, that we can call mental aging. The longer you fight the harder it is to stay "hungry" and get your motivation high. The adrenaline levels simply might not be what they used to be when he steps into the octagon.
Also, his fighting style to a large degree is based on speed, and that's something that deteriorates with age way faster than strength. There's always an option for him to bulk up and move to the light heavyweight, which is generally slower than the middleweight.

Anyhow, in a recent interview, Dana White was back-pedaling a bit on the idea of an immediate rematch, so things might get more interesting. I think they may be waiting on the Costa-Chimaev result before making any decisions.

Dana is just doing the drama like he really wanted to quick rematch. But I think he wants Izzy to move up already for more saleable fights for him and leave the MW. Removing the gatekeeper will allow new faces in the division. Dana probably will introduce again Khamzat in the MW against Costa which had been the most anticipated fight for months.

Well, I really don't know what Dana White and the UFC are thinking at the moment but I really think the rematch was not a bluff when he said it, and it was on the press conference after the fight, for sure he meant what he have said back then, but for sure his mind can still change on giving Adesanya an immediate rematch and if the people don't want that rematch for sure Dana White can immediately change what he have originally said for me I think Israel Adesanya just needs to move on with his situation now and just learn from that lost and adjust from his next fight,

For sure there is not enough time for Izzy to hit the Gym or train or maybe his videos were all just bluffs with all that training, but yeah this is just all speculation,  for sure Izzy's training camp will not let him slack off, just a bit, but for sure that Champion status sometimes is getting into his head for sure, and would think that he is king sometimes, without any remorse on what he's going to say, I really don't know if Israel Adesanya is truly lacking but for sure he needs a lot more time with training and we have seen who has the more determined to win in this event,

You have used a proper word, exact word that describes whole situation around Izzy from my point of view. Motivation. How long he has been fighting already? Ages in kickboxing, some ages in pre-UFC and in UFC. He was a champ in different promotions. I seems that he is tired of all that. Looks like he has lots of money already. Probably completed most from his "to achieve" list. It seems that even when he is not a champ, when he fights, he will get a solid payment anyway.

Here's a tape of Holland vs Chiesa.  I honestly have no idea why the books lined Holland as a slight underdog here.  I think it's value esp with how JDM looked at his last match.  I know JDM has been on a tear but I think Holland could sub this guy.  Holland via sub is at 7.20.  Could be worth a sprinkle.

First he was really pissed that his boy Adesanya lost hard against Strickland, and everyone could see that on his face in press conference.
Days passed after that fight and he is still talking about it and wondering what happened to Adesanya, without giving real credits to Strickland for beating his ass.
But lets put that aside, now he ex UFC fighters Tito Ortiz and Randy Couture tried to destroy UFC company 
I think he is getting paranoid and drugs is affecting his thinking a lot.

Back on this week fight card.
I think underdogs have a good chance to win this week, Alexa Grasso is defending champion and you wont get this odds again for sure.
But if you ask me for biggest surprise this week I think this can be Terrence Mitchell win against Raul Rosas Jr.
Rosas is only 18 years old and this is his third fight in UFC, and Mitchell has much more experience in MMA.
Both of them lost previous fights so they need to perform best they can.

Adasenya carried the belt for a long time at middleweight and did not put much effort into it because there was no one equal to him at welterweight. Then Alex Perreria came and took his belt. If he was a really good wrestler, he wouldn't even have waited for Perreria in this weight class, he wouldn't have been able to hold the belt for long. Strickland didn't seem to be very well prepared for his match, or he tried to look very relaxed during the match because he knew he would win, but he couldn't find the right time. I think a rematch will be arranged, but even if he gets the belt again, I don't think he can keep it. The middleweight ranking will be determined again.

Yeap, if miracle wont happen, Strickland gonna lose his belt next fight. And it does not even look that he carries a lot about it. Somewhere in the interviews he has told that he went to UFC to earn money, so he could have funds to pay for gym and sparring He just loves to kick ass and to get his ass kicked

He has said recently also, that this is what UFC is all about - you never know what can happen and how the fight would go. I think if we compare number of cases when underdogs beat favourites with other sports, lets say boxing, than MMA seems to be very unpredictable sport

I don't know. On one hand, if Adesanya's dip in the form turns out to be permanent, the UFC will lose a massive cash-cow, so he that's not something he would be happy about. But, on the other hand, Adesanya's loss massively propped up Strickland, so now they have more stars in the division which opens up new opportunities for more high-profit fights (incl. potential re-match). Looking at things money-wise, it's best when there's a lot of drama and unexpected events. Dominant champion beating up everyone is probably not Dana White's most desired scenario.

I think he is actually starting to enjoy life because he is getting old. And you know he has achieved a lot of things in his career. At 34 years of age, he is definitely going to enjoy life a little more. He has done the hard work till now in his life. I think we cannot bash him for enjoying life a little at this point.

But at the same time, he's not going to be at the peak of his physical condition for a long period of time from now. So probably it will be better for him to try really hard for 2/3 more years and then enjoy life. But when we look at the achievements that he had in his career, I don't think we can say that he will achieve those kind of things again.

Kittens fighting in main event - in few minutes YuginKadoya gonna appear here And I as usually gonna skip that. There are few familiar names in the card, like Holland and youngest kid in UFC (Rosas Jr.), but I find low interest in watching the event. Probably gonna skip and just watch a review after. The post fight discussion of Izzy vs Strickland seems more interesting than next event Dont think we need a instant rematch, as it a clear fight, 4-1 by rounds in Strickland favour.
