Nothing on LCD?

nothing on LCD after reboot fail with C10 - 8GB SDcard

swapping back brought everything back to 'normal'

rebooting the wifi brought it back online.

everytime i think i'll go for just 1 more - they start beeping at me as if to say 'dont do it'

then when i get to the point of giving them a swift boot, they jump back in line...

It seems that you will get other troubles with wireless connection. Many members don't use wifi for mining, especially when it is heavily used at your home. If you have to use wifi, reboot your Access Point once a day may avoid network connection problems.

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

Lets analyse it a bit more:

A short good news for the S2 buyer is that we will let the S2 to upgrade to 1.8TH/s or 2TH/s at very low cost which you can only image now in the August or September. It still depends on many factors to let us achieve that and detailed plan needs to be drafted, But we are very confident that we can make it.

-"upgrade to 1.8TH/s or 2TH/s at very low cost "

I believe is more like a hardware upgrade, rather than a coupon.

Well they better start moving faster as diff will ne 10.4b next week.

But then again no one else has a better $ per gh solution either.

Sounds like an IP collision to me if restarting the router fixed it (temporarily).  Try setting a different Static IP.

Hasratio is cheaper , but their machines are huge 8T.
$1.3/ghs for 1.2w/ghs machines.

Personally I wouldn't call a doubling of the hashpower an extreme case, it's the upper bound of the suggestion made by Bitmain.  My expectation is a node size shrink and cheap upgrade cards that use the existing backplane and heat sinks.

It is an extreme case because of the thermal constraints and power supply requirements of the OC'd package.
Your expectations are likely to be disappointed because a node shrink and a complete set of new cards will not constitute a 'very low cost' upgrade.

OC'ing the S2 is a poor idea IMO, it makes much more sense to just go buy S1s which are cheaper and better suited to handle the added power consumption in both cooling and dc/dc power regulation.

OC'ing the S2 (within the limits imposed by the need for operability in a home or small office environment) is a great idea, just like it was for the S1.
With a 1.4 - 1.8TH machine IN STOCK with 2 day delivery for $1600 - $1900 retail right now Bitmain would have this market all stitched up.

This is an ongoing issue with Bitmain in general. I too was just hit with a failed part, and the turn around on failed product WILL result in serious loss in mining payouts. There is an advantage to going with Bitmain for mining hardware, however due to their support on hardware with issues, you need to factor in as serious losses in revenue .

Yeah I've accepted that I will probably never reach ROI, and its very frustrating/depressing watching your investment go from bad to worse.

Bad to worse => to worser....

Got the blue screen of death.... S2 turns on but only getting a blank blue LCD display on the S2. I've re-imaged SD card but did nothing. Waiting for a Bitmain to reply for a RMA request.

Don't give up yet.  i've had the same thing.  try removing all the boards (power off first, of course), then power on.  watch the controller board for blue lights.  they mean the controller has found a usable boot partition on the SD card and booted from it.  if you get it to boot, and can connect to the web page of the controller, then the problem may have been a connection to one of the currently-removed boards.  you have to put them back in, but there's a good chance that shutting the system off "hot" will botch the SD image, so you have to ssh into it and shut it down gracefully...

shutdown -h now

wait for it to do so, then power off.

keep us posted.

Wow cheers, I managed to get it going again with your advice. I guess I had to be a little more persistent. Since I've turned it back on I've got a whole lot of --x--x---- on 2 of the blades. So I only have 7 functioning 100%, 2 @ about 70% and 1 not 0%.

I'm still waiting for a reply from Bitmain for a support query last week on the reason why a blade is running much cooler and literally not hashing.

I've tried rebooting machine to clear the ---x--- but they dont seem to clear.

Is there a default login and password to SSH into the machine?.. I'm using putty.

Well managed to get going for about 5 days however after 2 days one of the blades malfunctioned again, I don't why but the only evidence shows that the blade cools down and stops hashing. I guess it shows when the avg hash starts dropping. This was my original problem other than the rest of the problems I am experiencing. Today I had to relocate the machine which required me to switch off, unfortunately every time I have to switch off I have to image the SD card and spend about 10min pushing it in and out waiting for the device to get read card and get the machine going again. Definitely not a user friendly nor a reliable device. Really this machine should go back to Bitmain but the opportunity cost of sending it back for replacement is losing at least 2 week hashing time when they decide to pull finger and something about it.

Yeah it just took me 3 hours to start it back up again, and when i did a different blade has a lot xxxxx of in the ASIC status... Forever plagued with problems.

My batch 2 S2 has been hashing at around 1 TH/s since I got it a month ago.

However, in the last two days the hash rate has fallen to an average of 900 GH/s.

You would think a blade had failed, but I don't think so because sometimes it still hits 1 TH/s.  The chart on the pool shows it hovering mostly around 900 GH/s.

Has anyone else had this issue?

Run a Bitcoin node, support the network.

Mine dips into the 900s quite often and averages just around 980.
