I have a 1200w and a 1300w PSU I can put in my S2.  Should I?  It seems to me a larger PSU running at 90% load would use less power than what's in there.

Thoughts?

I suspect that the price will fall in line with the S2 group buy over the next couple weeks.

The S2 is underclock and don't need to use a big heatsink.
You can overclock them, but FIRST you have to change the heatsink and probably other smaller details.
If you forget to that, don't blame BITMAIN.

OC is a nosense on S2 unless you have free power, but also in this case you have to spend money in heatsinks, ecc... that of course makes your ROI longer.

7-8 s1s underclocked, with a separate psu, are not so cheaper compared to a s2 (that is certainly more comfortable that multiple devices, if it arrives intact)

7-8 S1s cost roughly 3~3.3BTC. Include a server psu and you are at 3.5 Btc.

How can you compare with the +5Btc S2?

Yes I know I need to handle the cooling and PSU etc, but over 2k for 1TH still feels bad. According to CoinWarz you would still break even in 95 days with the current difficulty.

2389 - 400 = 1989 pretty good  just about 4.4 coins for 900gh.

As I will pull a board to give proper overhead on the psu.
it will also cut down heat/cooling issues.

Yes, when I was saying that a week ago, you all yelled at me.

I cannot understand the reason of discounting everyday, it makes old customers getting pissed off.

Works for me. I've been incrementally leasing racks one at a time and filling them with miners as I go.

Um...
It's called being competitive.
And addressing the need of customer, which is fair as an s1 delivered later will earn less compared to s1 delivered earlier.

You do realize that Bitcoin miners are a depreciating asset that are worth less everyday unless the price of BTC increases, don't you? Bitmain is simply pricing their product based on that reality.

This complaint sounds like sour grapes. Oh, poor baby, someone else got a better deal on a miner than you did.

Keep an eye on prices, and if they are going down faster than what the miner can earn by mining like they are now, it's probably better to wait than it is to buy...

Exactly this.

But it is strange, when you know exactly the total cost of your product, when changing the final price, means:

-Cost changes on daily basis
or
-Markup on cost changes purposely on a daily basis

I cannot believe that their cost changes on a daily basis.
I think it is most probable that they decrease their markup daily.

I cannot understand , though,  this strategy.

As much as I hate the idea, kendog makes sense with that. I bought one at the 2599 price point. Bugs me to see it go down. BUT it is a depreciating value. In some ways its actually a good thing as buying another miner turns out to be cheaper, and it goes on from there. And they are staying very competitive noticing the dragon miner also doing something similar. spondoolies is maintaining the same pricing (while excellent quality systems) they are keeping themselves in the premium space in terms of hardware for larger volume datacenter operations. bitmain caters to both.

I cannot understand , though,  this strategy.

It is quite good strategy. Some people have $3000 in their back pocket, some $2000...So, by depreciating the machine as it's earning potential decreases, they open up sales for more and more customers and it wrecks havoc with their fixed price competitors. The product has to be good, though.
