I got bored when I saw that Villarreal made the score in favour of them by 3-0 until the first minutes of the second half already. But Atalanta's attempt to turn the game around was really worth watching. They scored two goals in only nine minutes and made it 3-2. And there were still at least ten minutes to go. A probable one more goal by Atalanta would change everything about this match. But it didn't happen and Villarreal beat them by this score.

A balanced game was expected, and that's what we can see. Villarreal were better in the first half, Atalanta were better in the second half. In the end, Villarreal won.

With the end of the Atalanta-Villarreal match, the group stages of the champions league came to an end.  An unexpected defeat came from Atalanta.  Villarreal managed to win away.  The match ended 3-2 and Atalanta scored 2 goals in the last 10 minutes.  Maybe if they had scored earlier, they could have won a draw or a win.

Villareal have confirmed themselves to be the last club to qualify for the round of 16 after beating atlanta with a score of 2-3, since the first half began villareal looked attractive by continuing to attack and able to score quickly, I think in that match atlanta were unlucky with quick goals from Villareal and put them under pressure in the first half, after conceding 3 goals it seemed that atlanta had started to be brave enough to be active in attacking but unfortunately the two goals created in the second half were not able to make them avoid defeat to Villareal.

I think they played well, but their luck helped a lot to win this match. They have made a total of 9 shots, of which they have managed to score 3 goals. Atlanta, on the other hand, dominated the entire match, taking a total of 19 shots. Yet they did not win.

Barcelona is  no longer same with past time, this is likely not a big club again even this club still has a big community or fans. Well, this will really make Xavi difficult to bring up again Barcelona to get or be the previous powerful club. It may be, but still need more times, not this season. So many elements to be fixed and developed to make Barcelona be great club again.
Barcelona's crushing defeat from Bayern really makes this one club really have no chance to add points.

Yes, Barcelona only has big names that have triumphed in the Pep Guardiola era but after that they gradually fell into a weak team like today. Without Messi they are getting weaker until I believe they are almost the same as Barcelona B.

If there are no big players they can bring in then it is difficult for Xavi to achieve anything with Barcelona unless the players really work hard to win every match. Dembele needs time to become an important player on the pitch, but he seems to be playing far enough from goal that I only see him as an assist sender not a goalscorer. If he wants to play more freely then I believe he can be a great winger in this era.

It looks like it was worth waiting for the Atalanta - Villarreal match one more day. Because it was a very enjoyable match as we watched five goals in total. There was a high level of competition in the last twenty minutes after Villarreal's leading the match by 3-0 until that time. if real madrid is playing against chelsea or PSG it will be as if real madrid had won the lottery, chelsea is in bad shape and PSG is the same thing as chelsea, they have defense problems especially PSG can't beat teams big, the real madrid would win easily

As scheduled, the first leg for the round of 16 will be on February next year. Means, there are many times for any team to change and improve. You say Chelsea and PSG is in bad shape, do you think they will always stay in bad shape?

Remember, there will be also transfer window in January where any team can improve their squad by purchasing some new players. So even if Real Madrid will be playing against Chelsea/PSG, it does not mean that it will be an easy opponent for Real Madrid.

PSG has already spent a lot of money and has good players, I doubt they bring any player that is better than the players currently on PSG, chelsea has good players too and I doubt they blush in despair for any player... chelsea is with a problem in defense maybe it's tired, but even if they get better I doubt they'll beat the real madrid, PSG don't have a chance unless they change coach and the players stop being lazy

No one knows, good players does not always fit to the team and the strategy. What I mean to say is that there is a chance for them to improve, there is still a lot of time to evaluate the team and they know what to do to improve the team.

PSG and Chelsea, they are not a small team who want to stay in bad shape without doing anything. Saying they are in a bad shape currently as a reference for the next match that will start in the next few months does not make senses for me. I might be agreed if the next match is within few days only.

Atalanta tried a lot but it wasn't enough and unfortunately they couldn't go to the next round. But here, indeed Atalanta are not lucky enough because in fact, Atalanta not only dominates ball possession because in the record of goal attempts, shots on goal and shots off goal at least Atalanta can really dominate the match as a whole. So yes, maybe luck played a part in this match too, but Atalanta can still be said to be great because they kept trying until they finally got 2 goals back towards the end of the match. Also, it looks like it was a late reply, because if the return goal had happened minutes earlier then it's very possible the final score could have been very different.

On the other hand, it is very unfortunate for Atalanta because they are actually quite good and can be said to be dark horses and I expected something more from them, but fate is not in their favor in the champions league.
and in this match against Villareal I feel they did not concentrate in the first half especially with the goal which was actually too early.

I totally agree with what you said. If Atalanta had scored an earlier goal in this match, we could have seen a much different score right now and Atalanta might have gone to the next round. It is not enough to play well in such matches, if you cannot score a goal, unfortunately, you lose. It is also very important not to make simple mistakes and concede a goal. No matter how good the Atalanta players played, unfortunately they were eliminated

Although I expected Atlanta to win this match. But at the beginning of the match they conceded the goal and fell behind. Atalanta attacked a lot, but did not succeed. Since Atlanta has played attacking, Villarreal's players have a good chance to score from a counter attack. However, I do not expect to see the Atlanta team in a stronger form next season.

I'm actually quite disappointed with the result of this match because I really feel Atalanta is one of the teams that will qualify.
But indeed they did not perform well in this match and I feel they lacked concentration in the first half which resulted in them falling behind.
Lack of preparation at the beginning of the round is something that is very disappointing for Atalanta

because for now their pot is very promising for the big match in the last 16.
