BAN Vs NZ, 1st Test

Two Test matches were scheduled to be played between Bangladesh and New Zealand. A match was abandoned after New Zealand won two of the three-match ODI series. Two Test matches were then scheduled to be held but the Test batch could not be held to allow the start of the ICC World Cup. However, in this test match, Bangladesh Shakib Al Hasan, Liton Das, Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman are missing several players. So Bangladesh has arranged this Test with completely new players. So what can I assume Bangladesh is going to lose to New Zealand by a huge margin in this test? As Shakib Al Hasan has just been selected as an MP candidate, he may be busy with the election. But some more experienced players needed to be included in the squad for this Test.

Finally, the new test series is arrived and this is a series of Bangladesh vs New Zealand. Bangladesh team is not good in all formats so of course they performed in this test series as they performed in the whole World Cup 2023.

I am pretty sure that this series will be won by New Zealand. Bangladesh team will miss Shakib Al Hasan in tomorrow's match, we see a match after such a long time, where Shakib is not present in the match. We want to see him but sadly he is retired now, his time has been over now we never see him in any test match again.

Things are not looing good for New Zealand. They lost the toss and quite predictably Bangladesh chose to bat first. And this means that Kiwis need to bat during the 4th innings at the minefield in Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. And Bangladesh has included quite a few spinners for this match, including Nayeem Hasan, Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Taijul Islam. If Bangladesh sets a total in excess of 350, then the first challenge for New Zealand would be to avoid follow on. And their batting track record in Bangladesh is not that great.

Nazmul Hasan Shanto batted in ODI style today and was dismissed by Glenn Phillips with 37 runs from 35 balls. This is the playing style of the Bangladesh captain, batting irresponsibly like this in today's match, especially in the Test match, does not make sense. In fact Bangladeshi batsmen will never learn anything from cricket. Bangladeshi batsmen could not master how to bat in any match. As a supporter of Bangladesh, I did not expect such a game.

No surprise there. Politics and cricket is always intertwined in Bangladesh. Remember the case of Mashrafe Bin Mortaza? He was one of the top cricketers in Bangladesh (captained the team during 2015 ODI World Cup, and managed to reach the quarter-finals for the first time). But then he retired from active cricket and decided to join the ruling party. He was elected as the Member of Parliament of Narail-2 constituency back in 2018, when he was just 35 years old. Shakib has also decided to enter politics and hopefully he will be successful in his political career as well.

I can't say whether Bangladesh team will win but it seems that Bangladesh will score well against New Zealand.Because they have already collected 217 runs for five wickets.
Mahmudul Hasan Joy scored the highest 86 runs for the Bangladesh team so far missing his century by only 14 runs.Maybe if he watched a little more or played patiently, he could have completed his century.
However, the Bangladesh team is now batting well and heading towards a big collection.

But New Zealand came back strongly during the third session with a total of 5 wickets. Bangladesh was going strong at 184/3, but by the end of the day they finished at 310/9. Part-timer Glenn Phillips was the pick of the bowlers, while full-time spinners (Ajaz Patel and Ish Sodhi) picked up just 3 wickets after conceding a total of 147 runs. @Sithara007 Bangladesh player’s need to learn to control the innings especially in the test format because had they been little more patient then they could have a solid chance of causing an upset here. Furthermore even though I agree that Bangladesh bowlers may do well but I strongly feel that New Zealand batsmen will prevail and probably hammer them before they lose their wicket hence for now the advantage is with New Zealand.

Bangladesh had a chance to score more, but some of the batters gave away their wickets too easily. Have to mention Glenn Phillips who is turning out to be quite useful with the ball and in the field. He brings a lot of energy to the game. Now, the Kiwis need to bat really well to do well in this test match. Considering how Phillips is performing, a score of 300 plus isn't bad on this kind of pitch. Keep the hope alive, because you never know what might happen tomorrow in cricket!

Taijul Islam has the ability to play for a long time, while Shoriful doesn't have it. However, it is the last wicket for Bangladesh. I think New Zealand bowlers will pick it early on day two. New Zealand is playing with a strong batting lineup. The 320-330 runs won't be a big deal for them. Miraz or Taijul may create pressure with their bowling, but I expect New Zealand to take a good lead in the first innings.
