Over the days the pitch variation definitely have got their impact on the game. England played well upto the 5th wicket, then the consecutive fall of wickets ended its innings earlier than expected. Even the team with complete fast lineup have worked well for England, but it was the mistake in batting that have made Australia have a better lead. Anyhow the match won't end in the 4th day.

Yes i checked out score and england score was good but when i again checked score after some hours then all england team bowled very earlier then expected. Australia is now full in this game and they are now in winning position. This will be second consecutive loss for England team. England are trying hard to get wicket but this match is now far away from England. Australia already with leads of 221 run with 8 wickets remaining and still 2 days match remaining.

Bad light was an issue yesterday, but the weather looks fine for the next two days. So there is still a good chance that we will get a result from this match. At this point, Australia is leading by 221 runs. How long will it take for them to add another 220-230 runs and then declare the innings? Usman Khawaja and Steven Smith are not exactly known for scoring quick runs, but they need to step up the scoring rate if they want to make sure that Australia wins this match. But then, they also need to make sure that there is no middle order collapse. A lead of less than 400 would make them vulnerable under conditions that are helpful for batting.

Bazball seems to be hurting Poms here. I am not against this approach per se, i actually admire the fact that they are trying to do something new with their cricket, which was needed badly.

There is nothing wrong with the attacking style of Cricket but they need to play carefully when the situation is not in their favor and they are failing to adapt to the situation when they are facing tough competition. In the second innings in this match the England middle order tried to play a defensive innings but they failed to stay in the crease for a longer period and it is a matter of time Australia built a huge task and win the match if rain stays away.

Yeah, they should at least be aware when they are at the top. At one point, they were in a great position but a mix of amazing bowling and reckless batting damaged their cause and resulted in 90 odd runs lead.

I am still hopeful tho, not for this match but remaining 3 fixtures.

Australia may be planning to declare by second session tomorrow, but that looks a bit risky for me. The pitch is not offering a lot of support for the batsmen. Ideally they should score runs quickly and try to declare by lunch tomorrow.

As the third day's play is already over and Australia has only started their second innings so far on the third day, I feel this match is likely to be a draw. Playing fearlessly is great, but it's also important to exercise some common sense when play such situation. In the match between England and Australia, England handed them nearly all of their wickets, which has put them further on the back foot. This is exactly why Australia holds the title of World Test Champions, they have truly dominated this session, even without their lead spinner. I was actually a little surprised to see the performance of England on this day. They should have performed a lot better, to be honest. They have lost six wickets in the span of 46 runs(279-325). I thought England was actually going to get a lead at least. But now Australia has complete control of this match. it is only the end of the third day and Australia has a lead of 221. Australia still has eight wickets in hand and regardless to say that they still have two very good batsmen, Steve Smith and Usman Khawaja in the middle. I don’t think England is going to win this test match in this situation.

First session of the third day was where things turned in the favour of Australia. England should have at least leveled Australia first innings score of 416 run but they ended up giving them a lead of 91 runs. IMO there is little chance of England getting back into the game from here unless there bowlers do some miracle on day 4. Usman Khawaja is well set on 58 and it will be challenging to bowl him out before he score another test hundred.

Maybe, but with the performance same as the first innings England can never think of winning the match. Australia were already leading 315 runs while the second innings score is 225, more 125 runs will make the lead to be around 450 runs. This is going to be difficult target to reach. In the history of test cricket, the highest target reached is 418 runs and this happened 20 years back.

In the previous test match it was the tail players who were the game changers. Pat Cummins played well in both the innings scoring 38 runs and 44* runs at the very critical situation in a much responsible manner. Maybe if his wicket have fallen, England could've won the first test match. Australia leads 350 runs and somehow the tail will contribute another 50 runs. This time the match will come closer and Australia will win the match with its best bowling line-up.

In the first innings England scored 325 runs. The team had good start, and the bottom order failed to score. Maybe if they've added little more runs the total could've reached around 380 runs. The last five wickets contributed just 65 runs. Australia have set a target of 370 runs, and we can expect this match to be more fighting. Solid performance from few players with centuries would make the target reachable.
