Blackwater did not handled we'll their lead until the end of the match and only a couple of minutes left in order to claim the victory and break their loosing streak. But like you said above the TerraFirma dyip made a surprise to me their fighting sprit is their and still focus on the and that's the reason why they do an shoot after shoot and claim the victory

That was a sure win already. Blackwater wasn't able to hang up. There's no problem with their offense that night but their defense was breakout during the last few minutes resulting in the opponent team getting through.

Just a little bit and they will break their losing streak. Their next game is against NLEX Road Warriors which is now on 2 games losing streak. If the same performance will be shown by them last night, they have a chance to defeat this team.
Nahhhh the game is rigged Cheesy.

Kidding aside, they almost snap their losing streak on that game but they choked at the final minutes of the game causing them the game and continue their streak. Nevertheless, the import that they got is better than their previous one as he scored 30+ pts on his debut game. On their game against NLEX, I think NLEX will get the W here and the streak of Blackwater continues. If that happens, the Blackwater matches the most losing streak in NBA history of 26. Like @goinmerry, I don't know but I find it happy and at the same time very disappointing to see the team losing and continuing their losing streak.

If black water will continue their losing streak hemp sounds bad for us and them but as I observe their play is good and the player also scored well especially their import but in the 2nd half of the game their plays will change and even their defensive strategy will break I think I I don't know what is this happening. Hemp I think their Idol team in NBA this season is the Lakers. Jke Grin

But lakers just struggle due to chemistry problem, Blackwater in paper is a bad team, so it's not surprising at all that they are losing games, it's normal for them but what's not normal is this long losing streak. I'm pretty sure they are now frustrated, and if this team will not win games soon, maybe it's better to just sell it.

Betting on the first game tonight.

NLEX +6.5 @1.92 vs Hotshot, the Beast will be out for this game because of a calf muscle strain so i think NLEX have a chance to be the first team to beat Magnolia this conference or at least make the game close as possible.

It's already February 16, any news on whether audience are allowed in the arena or not?

Last news i've heard is that Metro Manila will remain in alert level 2 until the end of this month.

Well, in general for this team. It has become a farm team and doesn't really have any intention to win a title in the PBA. There should really be a big improvement which I think they've addressed last year and likely promised to make the team better. I've read from an analyst that if a team really has no intention of winning, they should be removed and replaced by another franchise. In the history of Blackwater, we're all aware on where they're standing for all of the seasons they've been in the PBA.

Just now become frustrated? They are in a 25-losing game streak before becoming frustrated haha.

The start of that streak is from way back PBA Bubble. That's how long their losing streak is now. They are winless last conference. They should even at least make some improvement before the start of the current conference.

This team needs a serious rebuilding. Having lots of role players is good but they need someone who will act a lead.

I saw it a few hours ago and its very sad to see a team leaving PBA.
You can see their achievements on their post as well: https://www.facebook.com/664518660236917/posts/5384903581531711

Its been decades since the franchise is in the league and maybe its time for them to leave. I don't know the exact reason but my theory into why they are leaving because of competition of the league and maybe the pandemic as well. On the other hand though, many companies are interested still to get the spot and SM is one of them.

I've missed something about this news. They'll still have their last hurrah for this season but it's final, after the season ends, ending up good or bad.
That's the last game for the Alaska Aces. A lot has happened and is unfavorable to PBA. This has given notice to the management as they've reportedly made an emergency meeting upon Alaska's announcement.

Oh, I'll just post it right now, but I came across this. Definitely, they're leaving the PBA, which brings back memories of when I was a kid and when they won their first championship ring in 2015-2016, which was truly amazing to witness. What are your thoughts on this situation? Is there a new team being formed? Is there a new sponsorship? I believe they will form a new team, as well as the head coach, who will be transferred, as well as the players. Isn't it true that they'll be traded?

I was a fan of alaska way back when Frankie Lim was there, then Jolas transfer after being traded. It's been a long journey to this 90s team.

Our own version of Chicago Bulls, my own opinion, guys. Remember how many times they've been in the finals, changing opponents each years

almost a back to back grand slam if I'm not mistaken.

Now, it's time to say goodbye. The franchise is no longer competitive after Abueva's has been traded.

Thanks for all the memories, whatever the reason it's good to remember the franchise contributions to this league.. Wink

The PBA commissioners are now on a meeting and maybe they've talked about a possible new franchise to let them in as Alaska is on its last conference. Alaska is gone forever after this conference as it's about the company's funding issue.
About the players, well, we don't have to think about it for now. But I've seen Teng, a player for Aces has posted his farewell and it's going to be his final conference with a team and he's happy with that.

A legendary team leaving doesn't look good for the PBA but another one will replace them for sure. While it's tough to set up a team due to a large funding required, I just hope the new team isn't affiliated/associated with the San Miguel Corporation or owned by Manny Pangilinan. Maybe one of the Villar controlled business entities should represent them (if there's none yet)?

After this incident what's next? independent team is slowly departing on the league and this is a huge loss for the league knowing that Alaska franchise is huge in PBA for sure other teams will think about quitting to since its undeniable that there's an in balance things happening in the league and this is a huge wake up call on PBA authorities since if they keep doing what they do these days maybe the only team will be left on that league is the MVP and SMB group.

I also read the story, if no one will buy the franchise then I'm afraid some of the players will not be able to find a home. Calvin, Manuel and some Alaska Aces players who already left the team are lucky to still find a home to play with, maybe when they are trading their main players, that's already a sign that they will soon sign off.

This is not good for PBA, it simply tells that the league is not profitable anymore.

As of now, no one is interested to buy the franchise but I'm hoping that somebody will buy it.
What's next for PBA? I don't know because the departure of Alaska from the league might create a domino effect to those independent teams.

This is what can happen if the league is in a duopoly or being dominated by 2 companies (in this case its MVP and SMB) and if the Board will not do anything about it then its only a matter of time for other independent teams to leave the league as well. I've watched a video hours ago regarding the possible reason of Alaska leaving the league. One reason that said there is the pandemic which is quite understandable because they are paying their players even though there are no games and on the other hand, they can't advertise their product. Another reason is the salary of players not being publicized. Because of this, other teams can pay their players higher than the max salary (hidden of course). Include also the free agency where players can just get the players they want.

Overall, I still hope that the Board will still do something for this. The competition of the league disappeared already that is why we don't see many audiences watching live unless its Ginebra game. The departure of Alaska will create a domino effect negatively unless they will do something.

I'm not sure if there are teams who will join the PBA at this stage, they understand that they are operating at a loss now, and only the rich teams will survive just to protect the reputation of the PBA. Now, this news doesn't look good, it only reflect the real status of the league and because they limit the number of teams, look what has happened now, I think some teams will also follow after this.

I'm saddened with the news about Alaska Aces retiring in PBA.  Cry
Have you seen the news about their retirement announcement just today?

Well, the reason for Alaska is due to the business sustainability. They're going to focus on their own brand and owning a team is really costly in the PBA.
What's next? I think the other teams that are not even taking championships would also back out in the league. Who knows? Snow Badua said it's likely ROS. But that's just his opinion. The management should really be better and it's not just a league between SMC and MVP companies.

It was a big surprise to me when I saw the news about Alaska aces. They are part of the league for how many years but now I don't know why they doing these. If the reason why they blackout is because if they not claim the trophy for championship I think it's better to swap their players or find some good one in order claim the  victory than to back out the league.
If other teams will blackout for sure the league is not a very interesting to watch.

Nice bet! Although Magnolia have won the game, still Road Warriors have managed to cover enough spread for that.
Regarding to the news if PBA games are ready to welcome live audience, yes they already had.

Quote
Fans will soon be allowed in the stands as the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) is once again opening its doors to the audience starting next Wednesday, February 16.
League commissioner Willie Marcial on Saturday said fans who wish to watch the games live at the Araneta Coliseum can start booking ticket reservations starting Sunday, February 13.
Source: https://www.gmanetwork.com/news/sports/basketball/821700/pba-to-welcome-back-fans-starting-february-16/story/

According to the article released by GMA Network, PBA are starting to receive limited vaccinated audience who wishes to watch the games live. Good thing that the cases have cooled down these recent weeks and NCR is under level 2.
