No one is talking but let's give recognition to Mark Pingris and PJ Simon.
Both are truly a big help in the history of the Purefoods franchise. They have a great career overall and established names because of their remarkable performance and contributions that lead to some championships.
I'm also happy that they will not return to basketball by playing in MPBL as reports said. They should retire as a player but can be part of team management.

Yup, the hassle, and defense that Marc Pingris brought to the Purefoods team was a great help to achieve that rare grand slam fate and PJ Simon's consistent outside shooting back then was also remarkable. Just wonder if James Yap retires, what jersey should they hang in the arena, Purefoods or Rain or Shine? I'm also happy that they will not return to basketball by playing in MPBL as reports said. They should retire as a player but can be part of team management.
Playing in the MPBL won't happen for the two retired PBA players as they have business interest with the Magnolia franchise while MPBL is currently owned/run by Chooks-to-go, a business that involves chicken so there is a conflict of interest in that aspect.

What kind of business interest is that if you don't mind sharing, please educate me with their business status as I have not been following all the updates especially on business matters. They were previously reported to play with MPBL, and now it's off?

Yes, with my book he's not considered as local. But with the current season, imports are allowed. It is just that his height is more than the limit and with his want to play for the league maybe the PBA management would give him a consideration.
I research a bit and @harizen is right. Andray Blatche is not allowed in Governors Cup. No consideration of course as it will break the terms and more imports will come with a tall height in that conference. Blatche is fit on the Commissioners Cup and his height is eligible. Marcus Douthit, also a former Gilas player, played as an import for PBA and his height was the same as Andray Blatche. Next year that is possible, if he is still interested to play as an import. Thanks for that information, it is just that as a fan, I want to see him play as he said he wants to. But by the book yeah, there are rules that should never be broken. I'm also happy that they will not return to basketball by playing in MPBL as reports said. They should retire as a player but can be part of team management.
I thought that Pingris is going to play again but for another league. But if he decided not to play anymore then that's good for him and he just have to enjoy his retirement and he can still be part of any team as part of the coaching staff.

Very nice of them but with that, they cannot play a major league in the Philippines as no other league that is bigger than the MPBL, of course, MPBL is next to PBA and they are a pro league now. So Chooks to go owned the league? I was thinking it was Manny Pacquioa.

And regarding that, both Marcus Douthit and Andray Blatche now called for the PBA to allow naturalized players to play in the league. There are some things that are not clear here as from my knowledge about it, these guys just undergo the naturalization just to be eligible to play in Gilas but not aware that the limit still applies as a foreign. "Technically" speaking, they should be allowed to play on PBA as a local player but not as an import but maybe PBA thinks that it will give an unbalanced situation. Imagine, for example, SMB will sign Andray Blatche, as a local player playing alongside the hired import. That was insane. No teams can stop them now. If Blatche will be signed, he should be on lower-tier teams but given the expected salary, SMB and MVP teams are might be the only ones capable of paying him.

I have watched a Youtube Video regarding this and I think that Blatche isn't eligible into either the Governor's Cup and the Commissioner's Cup. Correct me though if I'm wrong. This is the link of the video that I watched (in Filipino though). LINKIt is said that the maximum height for an import in the Commissioner's Cup is 6'10" and the height of Blatche that is listed is 6'11" so I don't think that he will is eligible into both Cups. Douthit can play in Commissioner's Cup since he is a bit shorter than Blatche but the problem is his age. Teams will prefer to pick a younger import than a 41 year old Douthit because we know how age affects the effectiveness of the player inside the court. Overall, many wanted not only them but other imports to play in our league and I think that the BOD needs to make an adjustment regarding additional spots for imports. I mean like in B-League where they are accepting more than one import per team something like that. Of course this will cost more money since import's salary is higher than locals (I think).

I think a naturalized player represents our country, so he cannot play on a certain team in the PBA as that is not fair for other teams. As per the rules, I am not familiar with it but I haven't seen a naturalized player play in a certain team in the PBA after he got naturalized.

This is now clear why he hasn't signed for the MPBL. Despite having the news that he's going there and I'm very much happy when I saw that news but learning the deeper things about Pingris' livelihood, if he has a contract with Magnolia's/San Miguel's poultry business it will really be a conflict of interest. Thanks for that information, it is just that as a fan, I want to see him play as he said he wants to. But by the book yeah, there are rules that should never be broken.

Well, I guess everybody is aware of the rival teams and most likely the speculation of what team is going to be the champion on the current conference per se. Let's tell exactly if SMB will take Andray as their local player, I guess there shall be sort of discussion on the PBA management just to make it look like they would have to discuss things and make an exception about him and the same with Marcus. You know, these super teams are always getting the favor from the management.

Imagine Blatche, Fajardo and the import plus Romeo and Perez or Lassiter, who's going to stop them? though TNT also have that capabilities to hire Andre they also have deeper funding to offer, but yes, I just realize that if Andre will play even he will be playing with under man team but with an import beside him, that's still a team to beat. Naturalized might give them the opportunity to play with the national but not with the PBA, there are still rules inside PBA that will prohibit them in order to maintain the balance(though not really believing in this )

Playing in the MPBL won't happen for the two retired PBA players as they have business interest with the Magnolia franchise while MPBL is currently owned/run by Chooks-to-go, a business that involves chicken so there is a conflict of interest in that aspect.

Business part of him is dictating respect knowing that MPBL was sponsored by Chooks to go and magnolia have their own same alike business.

Probably he did as he has a contract and he has been called by the company that he has a bind with and shouldn't go against with their terms. I didn't know that he has bind contract with Magnolia as said in the past posts, it seems that these great PBA players were given another opportunity by their team if they ended up good with them. So it's not just all about PBA but after it, there's a livelihood that they're given for which they can still have their contact and connection to the management of the team where they've retired.

Not good for his new venture after retirement. Poultry business is one of the best money making if you are aiming for long-term security it's better to continue a good relationship with SMB corp.

Just like Romeo, despite the good offers to play in the B-League, he still remains loyal to the SMB. I think star players are given good treatment with some good bonuses probably the reason why they are always loyal to their team and their management. That's the kind of security when you are under a big team, you can still continue your good relationship even if you retire and at the same time you'll still get some business opportunity.

Speaking of naturalized players' concern with PBA as Blatche seems interested to play, the PBA Chief Marcial now gave his side regarding that. Naturalized players might get a chance in PBA, but not soon–Willie MarcialThe reason is so simple and it makes sense, " it would tilt the balance of power in a huge way".Blatche should just wait for the Commissioners Cup and apply as an import.

The best thing to do and I'm sure he'll not dominate as he is not getting any younger. I think he is still young, at 35 years old, I'm sure he can still play well as a Center. Other centers maybe so reliant on their rebounding skills and dominance inside, but Blatche does more than that because he is also a great 3 point shooter. I'll be checking on the update of the Commissioner's statement, and see if this import can really play in the Governor's Cup.

That's still young but he is not anymore at his peak, well, most imports are not on their peak anymore, otherwise, they'll be playing in bigger leagues for betting paycheck. Let's just wait for the update on these rumors, but if PBA will give him a chance, for sure the other naturalized player will also try his luck. BTW, is pringle injured? ----did not watch their last game, so I have no idea until I read the article---- https://www.spin.ph/basketball/pba/why-can-t-ginebra-be-transparent-with-stanley-pringle-injury-a2244-20211230?ref=home_featured_big
