I don't think it's Madrid's game that made them lose their confidence. They just couldn't keep up the form till the end of the season which is a very difficult thing to do. I was always doubtful they could do it from beginning to end.
We underestimate how much these big clubs put in to always remain at the top.

I don't believe they lost their confidence after the Madrid loss because they have been beaten by Madrid before, but they still went on to win their other fixtures in the league and remain at the top.

Robert Lewandowski is the second biggest earner (27 million euros a year) in the squad right after Frenkie de Jong. This is a really big load on Barcelona as long as he performs like this. His scoring performance has dropped quite much since the previous season you know. He still has a contract that expires in 2026 now but I wouldn't be surprised if he leaves in the summer either.

It is all depending on Barcelona's plans for the attacking line. They have signed the young talent Vitor Roque but I wonder whether they think of replacing Lewandowski with him in the starting lineup soon. Several times ago Joselu has been interview by local media that Joselu said he deserved to gets permanent contract because Joselu feel he was so comfortable to playing with Real Madrid although with the arrival of Mbappe will makes his chances to gets more minutes to play will be so thin but Joselu said he will taking that risk and will not choose other club unless for Real Madrid only and for striker position Joselu is very suitable with his current position besides that Joselu can be used as the substitutions players for Mbappe or Vinicius so i personally agree Real Madrid should be give him new contract

For me, since Ter Stegen returned as the main goalkeeper, Barcelona's goal has not been as easy to break down as when Inaki Pena replaced Ter Stegen due to his injury. Barcelona's main goalkeeper can be relied on, unlike when Barcelona's goal was guarded by Inaki Pena. understandably, this young goalkeeper lacks experience and often makes blunders. that's why, Barcelona experienced some very messy matches. plus, several of Barcelona's core defenders also played badly. Now Barcelona is starting to perform a little better again, even though Gavi, De Jong, Pedri are again injured. Likewise with Balde, Joao Cancelo who is often relied on in Barcelona's defense line.
however, Xavi was able to bring Barcelona through to the quarter-finals of the Champions League. plus, currently Barcelona is runner up behind Real Madrid. with 9 matches remaining until the end of the competition, Barcelona is 8 points adrift of Real Madrid. well, it's quite difficult to catch up on the points difference from the top of the standings. moreover, if Madrid is still able to maintain its consistency throughout the remaining matches this season. but at least, Xavi has improved Barcelona's performance and has a chance to advance to the next phase of the Champions League.

As for Girona, their ranking could drop again in the remaining 9 matches. The problem is, Girona has matches against Atletico and Barcelona. plus, several other matches. If Girona loses, that means giving Bilbao and Atletico the opportunity to finish in the top four of La Liga until the competition ends.

Xavi has been a good manager at the Spanish side, even though they've had some shaky situations, they've just found a way to cover up lapses and make necessary coverings to the loopholes. It's very much good that they were able to put in good effort regardless of what they lacked to good team building. Nonetheless, Xavi would have still done better than he's already done. Well, his days with the team are technically numbered and he's got some commendations which he definitely deserves.

 I don't know what to say about his intended replacement but all I'll say is Barcelona as a team has work to be done and I'd love to see the new Barcelona in seasons and games to come.
It'll be very much important that Barcelona management tried their best to get a good replacement for Xavi Alonso  and finding the best option for them would be a bit difficult. There are prospect options for them but they've got to be very careful in their choices.

 Considering Emery as a choice, he's got an improved record with Villa and normally, Villa and Barcelona's level can't be compared so it's safe to say that it'd be a bit different to manage Barcelona based on their range of players and level in football. Barcelona isn't a team to be taken as an experiment. They won't be able to bear loosing their value and pride just because of them trying to make use of a manager who's not really had very much experience in a big team.
