New version is out (version 1.0.1.3)! Please update your wallet. List of changes: * !!!Fixed OpenSSL HeartBleed vulnerability (switched to OpenSSL 1.0.1g)!!! * Fixed blockchain source not available (by updating default .conf and adding seed nodes) * Added checkpoint at block 28888 Here's a link to a Windows version: https://mega.co.nz/#!0cg2RTYK!qMFjj95YelcIeoAHvGgy9ER6vXMSkLsMfOZitlj4lKsFor Linux version, just get the latest sources from GIT repo ( https://github.com/GroestlCoin/GroestlCoin) Could we have someone build a Mac version? Thanks dev (srcxxx)

A bounty to build a list of all the popular coins with power draw and temps worked out (that is what the bounty would be for, to do the tests professionally) would highlight that this is one of the best GPU miners out there.
If you are mining scrypt, probably at a bit of a loss at the moment, and you fear Scrypt ASICs coming, then building a list to show GRS is cheap to operate, you got in early, you don't need to use extra cooling during the summer and you don't need to sell your GPUs on eBay at the same time as everyone else - then GRS would be very attractive.
bump. I know it's difficult to imagine it, but there are scrypt miners selling their GPUs on eBay for a fraction of what they bought them for a few months ago. They just need to find GRS by referencing to the outstanding energy saving features it has. Show people the facts. This is a fairly easy way to stand out from the crowd. Everyone asks - what makes this or that coin so special? Well GRS is cheap to run, produces very little heat and is quiet as hell. EDIT : this is someone from Canada on middlecoin forum. Sounds like he is giving up on scrypt.

That is a possibility. We are thinking of implementing mixed POS/POW. But before doing it, I think we need to know what GRS community thinks about it.

Good idea We maybe can add a poll for voting. The important thing also is to make the coin evolving. A "static" coin can be a good thing, but a "dynamic" coin is better.(but have to keep moving in the right direction, not just for moving) POS is a good idea i think, but i don't know how to. But POW+POS is better than POS only no ? One of the big thing of Groestlcoin is his GPU friendlyness algo, and multi plateform fairness. So, without mining...

Pure POS will kill this coin. This coin doesn't need POS, because it has ultimate algo. This coin is like a diamond in millions copies of scrypt/scryptN/x11/other coins. I will continue in mining of this coin the whole year. Summer is coming.

Gotta agree maybe mix of POS and POW but not pure POS for sure.

+1 NVIDIA optimizations (coming) + CPU optimizations (coming) + reduced ASIC advantage with parallelization resistance (proven) + and possible ARM port (in the works) = Holy Grail of mining PoW algos

Blackcoin is backed up by a blackcoin multipool where miners mine other coins and buy blackcoins. that is what is pushing the value.
If you are going to do PoS, why not increase the total distribution of coins and then become a twitter tipbot?

Id like tio get people's views on the mining rewards / block reduction
At the current rate we're mining the coins fast.
Should we increase block size reduction (e.g. 6% > 12% > 24%) or something else to extend the mining time for this coin? ^not like this
thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Bloc reward reduction is already pretty fast. If you want to increase it, why not, if there is POS.
