But they are eight points behind PSG right now. Marseille just recently lost against PSG and after that, they also lost another match in the french cup. And I really thought they should have won the match.

So they are not currently in the best of mindset right now. They will play against Rennes next. I think this match might actually end up in a draw considering the current performance of both teams.

The gap between the first and second teams of the league increased to eight points after PSG has beaten Marseille and now PSG is safe in the first position of the table, however, considering the money they invest in PSG and the players they bought we can't expect to see anything else because comparing a team with a like Marseille to PSG is more like comparing their financial situations in which these two are not same at all. Regardless of that, Marseille should be worrying about losing their position to Monaco because of the recent games we saw from them.

Lens v Lille can be a quite challenging match. The odds of the match is also proving this. Lens are my favourite side to win truthfully and bookies are thinking the same as well. Because especially Lens' incredible home stadium performance makes me very excited. They won nearly all of their home matches so far - only 1 loss in 12 matches. It is even better than PSG's home performance I mean. I don't know if Lille can deal with this superiority. But they can actually turn something into their advantage.

That something is Lens' recent form which is very poor. There has been a high level of drop in their performance which reflected on the results. Lille defeated them in this season before as well. I still want to believe in Lens' home effort so my choices are Lens win and both teams to score.

You can easily discern that both team are fighting hard for something. Nice wants to qualify for the Europa League so badly and Auxerre wants to stay in Ligue 1. Even if Nice has double the points of Auxerre, in those games nothing is guaranteed. I know there is never anything guaranteed, but these games are more about physical intensity than technique.

A seemingly weaker team is definitely able to fight the opponent into the ground with physical superiority. For the audience the result is often a not so great to watch soccer game, but this is what the fans should expect given the standings in the table.

Another big game is on Sunday between Rennes and Olympique Marseille. The fight for the Champions League qualifiers is now the most interesting part about Ligue 1. PSG should relatively easy win their game even though it is now confirmed that Neymar is going to miss the next two games.

Yes they missed the opportunity to win a trophy this season. In fact, they were almost beaten by a team that, to be honest, I didn't really know much about in normal time, but they could give hope after equalizing in the final minutes. But that hope didn't really come true, because they had to really admit defeat in the penalty shoot-out. Actually, before this match I predicted they would be able to win the French Cup, but it turns out they had to be eliminated in the quarter-finals.

With their condition and by looking at the statistics last season, I actually think they still have a chance for that, even though their chance is really big.
Their toughest rival from last season is still the same, namely Monaco, which always puts pressure on them even until the end of the season. Even last season, their difference was only 2 points until the end. The rest is nothing to worry about, as long as they can still play well and try to be better than Monaco I think they can still be in this position until the end.

Match between Nice and Auxerre, Nice gave a good fight in this match but it was impossible for them to win the match against the underperformed Auxerre, Nice player laborde penalty miss made it impossible for Nice to draw the match despite that the shot on target, ball possession, completed passes and good attacks was for the host team against the visiting team, the match draw because of the resistance of Auxerre side.

I really don't understand Marseille. They had a huge chance for winning a title in this season. But they just turned down the big opportunity after being eliminated by a small team. After eliminating PSG I was just seeing Marseille as the champions already. Because they were very strong among the teams remaining in the cup. But they gave it away and now they can just fight for the second spot in the Ligue 1. Because they let their championship chance slip here as well.

Their performance against PSG here was horrible as you remember. About the Rennes match I can only say that it will be really difficult. Rennes can take advantage of their demoralized condition and even beat them. I could pick Rennes' double chance for betting.

I agreed about this after having good start of this season and their performance was surely at their best with this all there was chance that Marseille could be in challenging position for the title race in this season but sadly in last five matches they lost two games at home and this all turn tables out for them right now difference is eight points but as they lost two games at home look like now they are not going to have chance for the title with both matches having results like 3 - 0 and then 3 - 1 mean their defense is still having issues, and they need to fix this for the next season if they want to have better chance for the title race against teams like Monaco and PSG.

Now they are going to face Rennes which is also having improvement in last few matches and right now they are having good chance for the staying at the top level with chance for the UEFA Competitions, but this all is not easy as they are having challenges from the Lille and Nice which are also doing good and trying their best for the staying in touch for better results.

Nice victory over Monaco is a big boast to perform better in this match. It is true that football is unpredictable but Auxerre's performance this season is not commendable. Nice has a powerful attack headed by Moffi and Thuram. After they got three goals in the first of the match against Monaco, the Nice defense showed so much resilience and ensured that there was no goal in the second half. I don't think Auxerre will get a even a draw in this match. A win in this match will take Nice to 6th position one point above  LOSC.

Nice which having tag of giant killer as they beat Marseille and then Monaco with the same score of 3 goals it's impressive and good consistent performance which can bring them to good level in this season if they are able to stay at this level until end of this season after some bad rounds now they are having just one lost in their last ten matches which is clearly amazing stuff, and they are surely had chance for the better end of this season.

Right now they are having a match against Auxerre and after the end of first half we have some good drama with mostly match controlled by Nice but Auxerre takes lead in 36th minute but after few minutes Nice have a penalty which was missed by Laborde but near the end of first half in injury time he is able to score a beautiful goal and bring back his team at level against Auxerre now at the end of first half we have 1 - 1.

Looks like Nice was more self confident than it should have during this game as they took a bit easy the game and even when they got into disadvantage and lost a penalty soon after they didn't look like they were that worried,sure they equalized in the end of the first half but then in the second half they should have been more concrete in front of goal.I think Auxerre had prepared much better psychologically for this game as they know that even a point with a draw is very precious for them to start collecting as many points as they can to save themselves from relegation.I am sorry for a lot of people who have been losing their tickets and bets because of Nice as I know a lot of people would have bet on them.

this will undoubtedly be a very difficult game for nice, even coming from a sequence of 5 games without losing nice will face an opponent that in the last 4 games has shown to be a well organized team to the point of not having lost in any of the last 4 games, I think that in this game a draw may be the most likely result, but I don't see nice losing in this game, but I will not place bets on this game

Nice is a fluctuating team, they won vs top teams and lost vs weaker ones. Here their odds are better since their opponent, Auxerre, isn't that threatening and playing near the relegation zone. I don't see how Nice could lose this game.

The final result is exactly what I predicted posted earlier, that this battle will end in a draw. and yes, in the end the home team will have to share the points with Auxerre. although Nice controlled the game, they had 65% ball possession, 17 attempted shots and 5 on target. unfortunately, Nice was only able to convert only one goal, which Nice conceded first in the 36th minute by Gauthier Hein's goal. it's a shame, Nice was not able to get full points in this match even though the opposing team was not a difficult opponent for them to overthrow. as I previously suspected, the absence of several important Nice players will have an impact on the team's overall performance.

Meanwhile, it's a shame even though Auxerre excelled first. but in the end, they were unable to maintain their lead. as a result, both teams must be willing to share points.

In the sight of Neymar he is not too much ambitious of becoming a legend. He has so much potential and people respect him because he is a good footballer and a good entertainer.

neymar problems are big:

Auxerre did it , they steal 1 point away from home and it's against nice the one that perform pretty well recently ... having that draw save them indeed 1 step out of relegation zone , despite being tortured for 90 minutes .. auxerre defend it very well to hold the score of 1-1 to the end.

1) "Our unit is much more compact. With the absence of Ney, instead of having two midfielders, we will have three midfielders and two attackers."

There have already been discussions about the words Galtier has chosen and I agree. I wouldn't talk about how much my team is stronger when one of my players is missing. He wouldn't do the same when Mbappe was missing. When he said the quote no. 2, he was a bit hesitating it is said when he was asked whether Neymar's absence is a loss.

I more and more doubt that Neymar will be playing for PSG next season. Since he also receives such a high salary, he is occupying some of the financial fair play capacity I assume and PSG would want to perhaps get a new youngster.

PSG will aim at Champions League with a very tough match in Munich. They must win the match as a guest, not as a host especially they were destroyed by Bayern in Paris weeks ago. I believe their mind is reserved totally for Champions League and Ligue 1 is not their focus at the moment.

Neymar missing is bad for PSG but it's good news for Mbappe. He will be able to have his full show and let's see will he be able to bring PSG to quarter final of Champions League. Luckily for Mbappe, he will still get support from Messi in Munich.

I don't hate Mbappe but I don't like his high ego and I am really curious to see how he will play in Munich. If he can help PSG to win and move next, he will demonstrate that he is capable of bringing his club to success against big competitors in Champions League.

I think PSG may likely play with the big players just to secure a win in the first half or at least score multiple goals before making substitutions to avoid injury on the players but also they need to win in their match between them and Nantes in order to keep the gap between them and Marseille same as 5 points otherwise they will find it difficult to win the French Ligue1.
 
I think it's going to be the decision of the coach to either reserve Messi and Mbappe as you earlier said to avoid more injury crises that may affect them in the returning leg between them and Bayern Munich which is a must win for them to move to the next round or  win in the League and lose in the big match which I doubt if that's going to happen.
