I knew they will win the cup because gone are the days when Monaco was doing very well. They were beaten by two goals to four in their home by PSG in their last meeting last month so it is expected that as they visit PSG, they will most likely collect worse beating but I guess PSG was so merciful tonight to have beaten them by only a lone goal. What is happening in the French Ligue1 is the expected thing because there's no longer competition in the league every season you will see other teams starting very well but before they get to the middle of the season PSG will overtake them and be topping the league table with 10- 15 points. PSG is not a match when compared to the other teams in the league and if you look at how the league is going you can easily predict that PSG will end up finishing the league with more than 15 points difference. Monaco was able to hold PSG almost to the end of the game but they were so unlucky that they finally conceded 1 goal before the final whistle.

My prediction of the game was that both teams were going to score and that the game will produce more than 2 goals but the defense of both teams were solid enough to not let in goals like most of us had predicted. Actually  I will even give it to Monaco,  I commend and applaud them for been able to have held that game to that point before conceding a goal, actually they got me loosing some money as I had a bet on that game to produce over 2.5 goals but having it that they were able to make it a tough one for PSG shows they are beyond the level where we had placed them and are now a little above average.  Well most importantly for PSG they had gotten three points and that's actually all that matters to get them the trophy which I suspect as their dream this season because they are definitely not going to look at winning the champions league this season except for their domestic league. Fir Monaco,  this may serve as a confidence boost especially as they conceded only one goal.

Well first of all this game wasn't played for Ligue 1, but some national cup as far as I know. It is called supercup or something and I don't know whether this cup is very important to the clubs or not. Of course they all want to win any title that's potentially to be won, but there are still competitions that might be taken seriously. But since I don't know about this specific cup, it is hard to tell whether both teams went all out.

Interestingly you call Ligue 1 a top league, but I have some issues with that. Yes it is a European league and has some good teams, but since it is dominated so much by PSG, I think the league is far less interesting and exciting than any of the other leagues like the Premier League, La Liga or Serie A.

 I would say I expected the PSG game to end in a draw or even lead to extra time because of how much pressure Monaco put on PSG. The last time these two met, Monaco has to lose in the penalty shootout and so for it to have extended to the 90+ before PSG could get a goal only shows how much Monaco worried them.
This result is a bit painful because Monaco should have been the one to carry the trophy but since they couldn't drive home their chances well enough, I think PSG had to show them how it was done.
