Varane is good central defender who was given chance to debut in Real Madrid by Mourinho. Many seasons pass and Varane combines with Ramos to build up a powerful defensive wall for Real Madrid. He learns a lot from Ramos too.

Now, Ramos left and Varane might move too. I think Varane is better than Linderlof or Eric Baily so he will a good improvement for Manchester United's defense system.

€50million is an expensive and unacceptable cost, I think so. It depends on Varane, want to play more Real Madrid or want to leave and find other challenges. If he want to leave, Real Madrid will have to sell him in next 2 months.

It is not about confidence but about support for Harry Maguire. Maguire is too slow and he need a partner who can mutually support him to fight against speedy attacking players from opponents. Varane is good enough to support Maguire.

United have been spending good sums of money on defenders in the last couple of seasons, it didn't just start now, the defenders prolly didn't live up to the expectations set for them, but United haven't been quiet in signing defenders. Having said that, Varane was good quite a couple of seasons ago, but he looks more prone to mistakes of late, I've seen him make a couple of big mistakes that have cost Real, that could be a sign of a player that's lacking in confidence, if United sign him, then I hope he rebuilds his confidence if he is to be the rock they need in central defense.

I think Real Madrid have enough defenders at the moment to replace Ramos. See the full Madrid squad here. In football there may be a habit that we often see, which is when the best player leaves, the team has to find a 10/10 substitute. I don't know if it should be, but a lot of clubs have done it. Ramos has left and he has become a living legend for Madrid, while many other defenders are still available. Does Madrid need to find a replacement?

By the way, the EPL will be back in a month. I hope all the match held for the 2021/2022 season are attended by supporters of each team like at EURO 2020 yesterday. 68% is not as high as people may imagine. I have seen Ramos going to qatar with 61% chance at the start of the off-season, dude ended up in PSG which is a team trying to get UCL this year, think of the difference, from having 61% chance to go to Qatar and ending your career there to playing for a team who wants to win UCL, that is how much transfermarkt can get wrong.

I believe that there is a good chance Varane will leave Real madrid either this year or next year that is for sure there is zero doubt in my mind, there is no turning after this point, however I also think that there is a chance we could end up seeing Real Madrid keeping him for one year and just sending him for free, why do that? Because they may believe that they could change his decision and take the risk, maybe they will convince him to sign another contract? I doubt that, but they may try it out.

68% is not as high as people may imagine. I have seen Ramos going to qatar with 61% chance at the start of the off-season, dude ended up in PSG which is a team trying to get UCL this year, think of the difference, from having 61% chance to go to Qatar and ending your career there to playing for a team who wants to win UCL, that is how much transfermarkt can get wrong.
