Time for a round of ale and some songs me thinks.

*Oh, Unobtanium, the pipes, the pipes are calling
From glen to glen, and down the mountain side
The summer's gone, and all the roses falling'
Tis you, 'tis you must go and I must bide.

But come ye back when summer's in the meadow
Or when the valley's hushed and white with snow'
Tis I'll be there in sunshine or in shadow
Oh, Unobtanium, oh Unobtanium, I love you so!*

 Kiss

I thought "on edge" was a requirement for Uno? No? All it takes is a little push.

Just a little push, and you'll be smiling Smiley

I'm just an observer now or I would be more than happy to help. I posted a build guide and tech support thread on the Guild but alas that doesn't exist anymore.

This was tested on Ubuntu LTS 14.04 and Debian 8. Your experience may vary, post bugs in this thread.

Step 1. Grab your dependencies.

sudo apt-get install build-essential libtool autotools-dev autoconf automake libssl-dev libboost1.55-all-dev libminiupnpc-dev libqt5gui5 libqt5core5a libqt5dbus5 qttools5-dev qttools5-dev-tools libprotobuf-dev libqrencode-dev pkg-config libprotoc8 protobuf-compiler git software-properties-common python-software-properties

Step 2. Add Bitcoin PPA + more dependencies.
Code: Select all

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:bitcoin/bitcoin

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install libdb4.8 libdb4.8-dev libdb4.8++ libdb4.8++-dev

Step 3. Use git to grab the latest Unobtanium source.
Code: Select all

git clone https://github.com/unobtanium-official/Unobtanium.git

Step 4. Enter the cloned directory and build.
Code: Select all

 cd Unobtanium

chmod +x autogen.sh

chmod +x share/genbuild.sh

chmod +x src/leveldb/build_detect_platform

./autogen.sh

./configure --enable-upnp-default --with-miniupnpc --with-gui=qt5

make -j4   #You might want to go grab a pint while this builds. Wink

strip src/unobtanium-cli

strip src/unobtanium-tx

strip src/unobtaniumd

strip src/qt/unobtanium-qt

make install (optional)

Binaries are available in /usr/local/bin if you run 'make install' Otherwise they will be available in the build directory.

And so I am clear on this:  Crypto Guild/Un-Ex is basically an online meet up for $UNO crypto-commodity enthusiasts?  Bitcointalk ANN thread, Reddit, and unobtanium.uno are focusing on info and ideas most decisive in obtaining the next... 100?  1,000?  new $UNO wallets?

I think he was more the catalyst than the reason. Don't give him too much credit. Morale killer perhaps.

At least the price is dropping, that was the plan, right? Anyone else ever notice how price seemed to rise when ever there was a noob in here and we were explaining to them all the perks? When it seemed like the coin was going some where, how the lurkers thought it was a good idea to perhaps buy some more.

Anyone else notice that when there is a lot of turmoil in here the price doesn't seem to do as well? I get it, correlation is not causation and all, but still..

I am thinking of that last guy to come in here and ask what made Uno special and we spent 3 or 4 pages talking about how cool it is, the coin went up a bit. 3 or 4 pages of shit slinging and the coin goes down just as much. HMMMM.

I know that is a sell trigger for me, when the community turns to shit. Just a matter of time before the coin dies when that happens. I think we all know that here and that is why we do what we do. To prevent OUR community from winding up like others. Not that it can't happen here, but it will take a lot more.

You know the best marketing campaign? Showing continual growth. Growth is universal.

The best part about crypto is that it is all inclusive. You can't exclude people from owning your coin. The worst part about crypto is that it is all inclusive. You can't exclude people from owning your coin.

Only if people buy into the hype.

I'm not sure why everyone is so down. The future of $UNO is bright. Lot of good things going on here.

You are right, lots of good things too but they get burried in the moody atmosphere. That storm will pass.

As for price, Uno has traditionally stagnated or declined a bit during bigger Bitcoin pumps. No surprise here.

Synergy in this community is too damn high! Cheesy

Came here to say moreless jest the same.
1.  Lots of good things are still happening.  MM has yet to reap the reward of actual evaluation.  The the moody atmosphere is but a small dark cloud covering the blue sky. yadda yadda.

2.  The main price factor is and has always been BTC ... simple equation if BTC is up then UNO gets sell pressure from the general crowd.  visa versa.  And ... BTC is breaching a long 19month bear trendline.  Likely to test +$300.  And boosted by 'Grexit' hype.

Just curious.

Care to enlighten us on the implications?

Have any of the devlopers taken a look at this yet, or even understand the implications? http://lists.linuxfoundation.org/pipermail/bitcoin-dev/2015-June/009135.html

Just curious.

Care to enlighten us on the implications?

I'm still gathering information, hopefully will have something substantial soon. This CVE is related to denial-of-service vulnerabilities that affect almost all coins based on BTC.

I've read the last several pages, as well as the 'guild thread', I still have no idea what everyone is talking about.

What I've got so far is: A person named Gecko is blackmailing someone with a threat to dump 2,200 coins (although he said recently on reddit that he has 1,200 coins but apparently he found 1,000 between his couch cushions). Some devs have left the project. There was something called 'The guild' or 'UN-EX' that is somehow controversial or disbanded or something. Anyone care to write an ELI5 or TLDR or outoftheloop?

Without an overview or summary these threads are definitely not useful for attracting new investors. Other than the controversy that I don't understand, are there any projects underway?
