Dear users,

We would like to inform you about the problem our and other pools are facing. The percentage of orphaned blocks for BCN, QZR and MRO is extremely high now. Our pool is working with PPS model which means that with every orphaned block we take losses. Due to this problem we are forced to temporary increase mining fee the following cryptocurrencies proportionally to orphan percentage for the last 24h:

• Bytecoin – 19.8% (17.3% orphan)
• Monero – 33.7% (31.2% orphan)
• QuazarCoin – 31.9% (29.4% orphan)
• Bitcoin & Litecoin – 2,5%

We are doing our best to minimize orphans. Commission will be changed every day according to orphan percentage.

Hello MinerGate,

To address the orphan issue, it's recommended that you directly connect your daemons to the other major MRO pools, mro.extremepool.org and moneropool.com. You should correspond to those admins so that their nodes are directly connected to you with "--add-priority-node arg", and possibly remove unrelated nodes, so that you can sync faster with these other large pools.

P2P backend code seems poorly optimized and takes a long time to sync as well, coupled with the heavy hashing algo makes orphans inordinately high compared to other networks.

BTW I've asked before but couldn't get any answer;
how are the shares calculated? With or without the fee, how much coin do we get per coin?

Other than that, to be honest, I'm aware of the orphan problem. 20-30% is extreme I believe but orphan rate is seriously too high on every pool. I cannot really blame them.

This does not fix it. mro.extremepool.org and moneropool.com continue to orphan tons of blocks as they can start mining on their own blocks with 1 MH/s far faster than the whole network starts mining on smaller pools' and solo miners' blocks.

It doesn't fix centralization, no, unfortunately. I'm not sure anything will, for the reasons given above. Even a 2 min block time doesn't seem to have a huge effect, as observed with BCN.

We’ve increased daemon connections pool server. Amount of orphans decreased but not significantly.
We are working hard on this issue. If you have any ideas how to get rid from orphans please tell us.

Fees and orphan percentage for today
• Bytecoin – 15.8% (13.3% orphan)
• Monero – 32.6% (30.1% orphan)
• QuazarCoin – 22.1%  (19.6%% orphan)
• Bitcoin & Litecoin – 2,5%

Once again, I'm not able to withdraw.

I still can't withdraw my coins.
Still not able to withdraw my coins. Can the devs give a response?

Sorry for delay with a reply.
Everything should works properly right now.
If you'll still have the issue please feel free to contact MinerGate support.
Nothing has changed. I get the exact same error. Post canceled on https://minergate.com/api/2.2/user/withdraw
4 days and I still can't withdraw.
- It's been 7 days and I still can't withdraw my coins.
- Other people seem to be having the same problem
- The only response from the dev has been "Everything should works properly right now."
- In the meantime there have been updates to the miner.
Seriously? Updates to the miner? Optimizing the miner is a higher priority than getting the withdrawals working?
It's been suggested in this thread that people with withdrawal issues are doing something wrong. Since the screenshot isn't enough to prove that this isn't user error, I created another Minergate account, mined a small amount of LTC to it, and tried to withdraw. Here's a video of the error in action.
http://v8.tinypic.com/player.swf?file=346t27p

I'm not here to spread FUD, it's just a simple fact that there is problem withdrawals for some people. I have no doubt that the Minergate team will fix it, they have been honest so far. My complaint is with their prioritizing enhancements over bug fixes.
It's now been 13 days and I still can't withdraw my coins from this pool.

Now I understand that the fee increase in the pool.

Code:
Pay-per-share (PPS)
In the PPS system, the operator is not a passive middleman between the participants,
coordinating the joint e ort to reduce individual variance. Rather, he actively absorbs all
of the variance each miner is facing. When a participant submits a share, he is immediately
rewarded,  corresponding to the expected value of this share's contribution,
minus fees - no matter how many blocks are eventually found. The operator gets to keep all
the rewards for found blocks.
The payment per share is thus a deterministic value known in advance. This has several
advantages for miners:

Zero variance in the reward per share. There is still some variance in the number of
shares found by the miner in unit time, but this is mostly insigni cant.

No waiting time until a block is found to obtain payment.

Easy to describe the exact payment that will be received.

Easy to verify that the promised reward is given, and that there are no losses due to
dishonesty on the part of the operator or other parties.

No losses due to pool-hopping, which is ine ective against this method.

However, this is the riskiest reward system for the pool operator - to be able to o er zero
variance to participants, he must take all the variance himself. He can make a nice pro t on
short rounds - where he gains the entire block reward but only has to give payment for less
than the average number of shares - but can lose substantially on long rounds. His variance
is the same as the solo variance of mining with the capacity of the entire pool (in absolute
terms, the variance increases proportionally to the hashrate). To compensate for his risk,
the operator will charge a higher fee than with other methods, and this is the disadvantage
of PPS for miners.
If the operator doesn't correctly balance the pool's fee with his nancial reserves, the
pool has a good chance of eventually going bankrupt.

The required reserves are higher than most people anticipate. Operating such a pool is
thus best left for those who know how to manage their risks responsibly, and miners who
appreciate stability should shy away from improperly managed PPS pools which could shut
down at any minute.

Find pdf here : https://bitcoil.co.il/pool_analysis.pdf

I contacted support weeks ago, when I first had this issue, before I ever posted in this thread. I described the issue and sent screeshots. The last response from Sophy was "Hi! I see you in logs, and I see where the bug is. I'll write you once it's fixed. Sorry!"

Please, use our support service. Describe the situation (which coin you can't withdraw and how long) and provide your email. We will investigate your case.

Regards,
Minergate team
