Having received bulk packages unopened that came directly from the "gridseed factory" i can say that this isn't unique to a certain reseller or gaw's hosting facility. Mine were pretty decent overall and every one of them had dust on the fans. 4-5 out of the batches were rusted and 80% were unannodized. So the Chinese manufacturer was using these Asics before shipping them to even the resellers.

just another reason to not buy gridseed products
and someone was wondering why we were saying bad things about some Chinese companies Smiley

and then there's that weird smell too... LOL

Yes, they smell like burned plastic. This can't be very healthy. Maybe the Chinese are trying to kill us this way.
At first I thought the smell came from the power supplies, but it seems to be from the Gridseeds themselves.
Probably the thermal pads are slowly evaporating. After a couple of months the smell gets less.

I was referring to the weird smell of the plastic/foam packing material Smiley

Yes, the packing material also has a weird smell, but my Gridseeds really smell like burning plastic, no joke.
I have 20 of them running, and I always leave the window a little bit open to get rid of the smell.

In my last order of 3 5-chip Gridseeds I had 2 rusty ones as well, they all worked but obviously they are not 'like new', however I contacted GAW and they compensated me fairly for it without any argument. ----------------------

----------------------- GAW reacted very surprised and told me they never sell used stuff, but nevertheless they were more then willing to rectify it.
Finally they gave me more compensation than I expected, so I'm still a very happy GAW customer.
But I have to agree that they should list used stuff as being used.

I clipped a bit of the quotes for space. So GAW is aware and are willing to offer some compensation.

I guess the support person I dealt with didn't get the memo even though I sent photos and now we have two pages of discussion.

I'll try again.

Speaking of gridseeds. Some times they burn up in a shower of sparks.  rare but does it happen. I had one burn up today.   I now need to rma it.  pain in the butt.  well gaw will replace it. still more work.

KEWL!!!   Stop running them on 220V!!!! LOL

very funny.  I got rid of  40 of them the last few weeks. I have been peeping for the summer. My garage is damn hot.

I can run 4 to 5 k watts safely in my garage but once the temps go up I have to cut way back.

I am going to run 5 five- chip units 1 blade. totals of .65-7 mh.  I am going to run 4 under clocked s-1's   that will be the summer mining around 1 kwatt.

Hey anyone here or read about this prime idea 'good'Josh   ( will all should know  good Josh= GAW Josh  bad Josh - BFL Josh  it is easy good = GAW  bad = BFL.)
 is taking about.

IS it a hash purchase for the cloud or what.

If it is something in the cloud I hope they offer a decent price.  I have not found many good cloud hash ideas.

It doesn't seem very easy to get in touch with GAW nowadays. I sent 2 emails to support about the used Gridseeds, never got an answer. Finally I sent a mail to CTO Rami Abramov and he answered me after 30 hours or so.
It looks like their business has grown so big that they don't have enough manpower to cope with everything.

Probably why they are hiring. Also Josh has been travelling for project Prime.

do you have any idea what the project is about? I have an interest in some out of my garage and hosted mining at least for the next 4 months with summer heat.

Yes, I can see rust on mine, missing screws and odd mismatched replacement screws.   These were run in a very corrosive environment.
This isn't just about dusty pods volder it's about trust.  Do you trust the company to not sell used equipment as new and if a mistake happened will they make it right with even a small gesture of goodwill.
Yes, trust if very important. I trust that Josh will address this issue and take care of every customer involved. He has a proven track record of doing so. Mistake or not, he will take care of you. I know he will. He did mention that he was away for a few days, so just give him a little time.

This is correct, we will always do the right thing. As we have proven.

Unfortunately, this is how Gridseed is sending these to us (never stops with these guys). And we are just learning about this. Normally, stock comes in, gets relabeled and goes back out.

Anyways, please email me directly at: josh@gawminers.com if you have not been taken care of. I will personally see to it that you are happy with the outcome.

Paypal refund received for 2x Generation A GAW Scrypt Miners orders. I wanted to comment, I see it posted as you will open up a 24 hour window to keep our batch 1 / week 1 and order in line placement. However some of us that had larger dollar amount orders might need a few days, for paypal to credit back credit card, and credit to be applied, to be able to reorder directly on the credit card again.

The single's I ordered were already refunded but nothing yet on the larger orders.  I don't want to lose my place in line...  I'm in for week 2.  I can't reorder until the funds are available once again.

yeah I got one today it lite up like a christmas tree I sent it back for a replacement .  it is possible a second one is no good.  I will test it tomorrow.

I also got a blade today my first one from zoom hash.  I found zoom hash before I found gaw miners and ordered about 3k in feb and march from them .. they gave me a good deal on one blade it came from china today and I just hooked it up.

seems to be good gear.

I am in NJ and once I found gaw miners up in Mass. I used them.  The last few grid seeds have been sub standard.  I mentioned it a few pages back in this thread.   Getting tired of tweaking gear.

hurry up with Prime please.    I will contact later on the possible second rma.
