Users have already posted past stats for Peru and Australia and it is easy to see why Peru is so strongly favored. If you don't want to go with the past history, you can check their recent performances and FIFA ranking. Peru is ranked 25th, while Australia is currently languishing at the 41st position. So you can clearly see why the sportsbooks are favoring Peru for the playoff. And being an Oceanian team, I don't think that Australia has any additional advantage with playing in Qatar. And for the Costa Rica vs New Zealand match, I would favor the former, due to the reasons already mentioned for the first playoff.

Great! Then I'm definitely putting in a small bet on that -- Aussies and Kiwis both have always almost been put at high-value odds because they do end up losing/drawing a lot against UEFA and Concacaf teams. I should know, I pick them quite a lot when odds are above 5/1 on ML heh.

Australia was a bit lucky in the match against the United Arab Emirates where they played not so well but managed to get rid of the United Arab Emirates but with this result they were not allowed to bring because they had been waiting for the Latin American team, namely Peru, of course the quality of Peru and the United Arab Emirates was much different in the United Arab Emirates. where Peru is a subscriber to the world cup, of course Australia must not be careless if they want to compete in Qatar next November even though the statistics favor Australia to qualify.but Peru can surprise the kangaroo country

I don't think Peru are massively better, but they are certainly somewhat better. Anyone who can make it through to the play-offs from the South American section is a strong team. They have to be favourites.

Agree on Costa Rica vs New Zealand. Costa Rica are merely an okay team, nothing special, but New Zealand are generally not very good, and would be expected to lose.

Well.. it is not that simple. I haven't watched too many of Costa Rica's matches. But back in 2014, they shocked everyone when they topped Group D, ahead of Uruguay, England and Italy. Italy finished 3rd and failed to qualify for the knockout phase. Worse still, England finished at rock bottom with just 1 point. It was the "group of death" and Costa Rica managed to top that group. But then in 2018, they were pathetic. Once again they were placed in a tough group, but this time they failed to win even a single match. IMO, both Costa Rica and New Zealand have almost equal chances this time.

If indeed Fifa's investigation later finds Ecuador wrong, then there is no hope for them other than being removed from the list of participants.
But in this case, there is also a lot of speculation that if they are dropped, it is likely that Italy will appear as a replacement because from some news I read, if Ecuador is removed, the team with the highest FIFA ranking will replace it.

  At first I thought to completely refrain from this League of Friendly Games of Nations, but still I try to find interesting options for betting. Yesterday I bet all that winnings on the Netherlands and experienced interesting emotions at the end of the game (oddly enough, the rest of the games seemed less reliable to me). Football and sports always been mixed, it's nothing new. But I don't see Ukraine added to World Cup in place of Ecuador. Italy would be more likely, but I doubt that it will happen. Most likely IMO that team from same confederation will be added and it will be Chile. And it would be most fair decision in this situation.

It doesn't work like that.

It's very specific, if they find Ecuador was using a foreign national playing for their team, then FIFA would cancel the results of any match where that player was in the field, swapping it for a 3-0 victory for the other team.

If you run the math, considering every game that player was in the field, Chile ends up in fourth position, direct qualification, and Ecuador ends up out of the qualification.

It's not like they just choose a country to replace them.

The rules are very specific. It's not like they just ban the country and pick a new one to replace them.

If Ecuador is found to have used a foreign national player while playing the qualifiers, then FIFA will exchange the results of the matches where the player was in the field, with a 3-0 win for the other country.

If you do the numbers, Ecuador ends up outside of the qualification zone, and Chile ends up 4th, which is a direct qualification.

Checked the odds, and I could see that Costa Rica is a clear favorite. But for the sake of diversity, I would like to have New Zealand playing in the World Cup. Australia may or may not qualify (they need to defeat Peru in the playoff), but we need at least one team from the Oceania region. And New Zealand is not a very bad team. Watched some of their matches during the 2010 World Cup, and they put up a strong performance back then (never lost a match in the group phase but failed to qualify to the next stage).
