I do believe that Spain could be good, or Japan could be good which I doubt, but Germany is not just good, they are also very good at playing together as well. Most national teams do not play that well, they usually end up losing because they lack chemistry and that is the main problem for most of them, however Germany doesn't have that. They built a great system and that usually ends with them being better and better each year.

Even if some players are replaced by younger generation, since the system is there already and everyone is used to it, that rarely becomes a problem. Other national teams usually do not have that kind of chemistry in general.

It bother me seeing some countries not qualifying while some I expected not to perform well do make it up, though this is football game and its unpredictable but taking a look at Africa as a whole, a country like Nigeria shouldn't have messed up this golden opportunity to qualify but their loss to Ghana who has been deformed on several occasions is heartbreaking and by now they would have known were their lapses are. I'm a big fan of Italy, I can't deny that I almost cried when Italy left the World Cup, besides Portugal also has CR7 and as you say it will probably be the last CR7 World Cup, and for Argentina with Messi too, also in this World Cup we have great stars of European football, I'm dying to see the group of death team that for me is Group E. Now there is something that does not add up to me or I have some ignorance about what will happen in this World Cup, because in the previous World Cups when the World Cup was held it was for the month of June, instead in this World Cup it will be for November.

Yup.. Group E is really tough. They have two of the strongest teams from UEFA - Spain and Germany. And then they have the strongest team from Asia - Japan. These three will be joined by the winner from Costa Rica vs New Zealand playoff (CONCACAF v OFC). Ideally Spain and Germany should progress from this group, but you can never discount Japan. On the other hand, the easiest group will be Group B. England will top the group and their opponents will be Iran, United States and winners from the last UEFA playoff.

Group E may be the hardest group in the world cup and understandably so because Germany has been drawn in the group with Spain. That is going to be the group of death literally but this is not undermining the strength of other groups though because every group in this competition seems to be very tough and can be dicey to predict. The game between Spain and Germany is certainly going to be a cracker and will determine how things will swing in that group.

As this might be the last World cup for both Messi and Ronaldo I think the expectation is high from both Argentina and Portugal. But obviously, they cannot do anything on their own and will obviously need the support of their team.

But, I have to say that it seems really highly unlikely that any of these two teams are going to win the World Cup and I am really sorry to say that.

The group is certainly an interesting one because everyone will be looking at Germany and Spain. both the teams have great football players and both the teams can entertain the viewers.

I was just checking if it's already possible to bet on the games and swa the quotes for Switzerland vs Cameroon: 1.75/3.5/5.0
So the bookmakers expect a win of Switzerland by more than 50%. If Cameroon loses only 1 game against Switzerland and Serbia, they won't be able to reach the 2nd rank.

I do wonder if the climate will play a part. It's quite extreme, and not really what we're used to in a world cup. I know of course that as a concession to the climate, it's being played in what passes for the winter... but still, it's quite possible that teams from colder nations might struggle more than we'd expect. More from a style-of-play perspective than anything else - England for example is a fairly cold country and the premier league is often played at quite a frenetic pace, which might not suit the English players in Qatar. I do think we might see some big surprises. I'd be half-tempted to bet on Cameroon to beat the Swiss.

Well to be honest Cameroon should not win against Switzerland because obviously Switzerland is a better team and should be the winners against Cameroon.

And the climate can obviously play a part. for the teams who are not adaptable in such situations will obviously face problems. Often players get sick and also not be 100% to play when there are drastic changes in the weather. But I still think that Switzerland should be the winner in this match. and even if they do end up losing, I think it is going to be not solely because of the weather.

Japan shouldn't be underestimated, but I don't think their chances are very big to reach the next round. The 4th member of the group will be very likely Costa Rica, a team which is on about a similar level with Japan. For Japan to qualify they need to beat Costa Rica and one of the two: Spain or Germany.
On paper, Spain and Germany are strong teams, but both somewhat inconsistent lately. In a friendly game German lost 0-6 against Spain not too long ago. Germany was eliminated in the group stage of the last world cup after a loss against South Korea (which probably have a similar playstyle to Japan)

I don't think there will be any significant surprises from the African continent team after we know the 5 teams that made it through to the Qatar world cup finals this year, maybe only Senegal are seeded to qualify for the next stage even though they have us to advance through the play-offs after eliminating Egypt went through a penalty shootout.considering the strength of Ghana Cameroon Tunisia and Morocco maybe they only stuck in the group stage

Every football fan can attest to the fact that Brazil is the best country in football both historically and even at present, there is no one greater than them. In that world cup group, Brazil is easily the favorite, Serbia is a little stronger than Switzerland but I would favor Cameroon because they are a more physical side and plays intense football.

Considering the games in the group stages will be close to each other (can't remember now, was it like once every 3 days or 4 days or something?) and that means teams will be tired by the time group stage is over and maybe the first game will be easy, and second one not so hard but third one will be hard.

Cameroon could use that stamina for exactly that reason but when it comes to actual elimination phase I do not see them as a possible candidate to go for too further. Brazil is the only one, and if that happens to be a good draw, like if they face big teams back to back, then it could become harder for them as well. I still think even Brazil won't win it.

But in terms of capability, they are no way near the UEFA or CONMEBOL teams. Japan may be one of the strongest teams in Asia, but they stand no chance against Spain or Germany. Given all this, the odds should be in the 10-12 range, in order to attract at least some interest from the gamblers. At 4.25, it is not worth taking the risk. On the other hand, 1.20 odds for not qualifying looks OK for me.

I agree, Germany has had a very successful national team for the last 10-12 years. As you said, there is a good system and new players are also included in this system, there is a very good order and success comes with this order.

In recent competitions, it was seen that Germany is playing very well, but that they lack realization in attack, a real and effective striker.
They lack a real and effective striker like Lewandowski.
I think that Spain has an advantage here and that they have a wider range of quality players.

Maybe there are a lot of bettors in Japan and bookmakers setting up such quotes only balance the bets so as not to take risks? That 20% potential profit really looks like a gift. In '18, '10 and '02, Japan advanced from the group to the playoffs, but those were much weaker groups. Most likely, this odds does not reflect the ability of Japan, but the possibility that Spain or Germany will fail.
