Everyone thinks they have a good chance of making it to the next group. They fell into an easier group than other groups. I am very happy to see a star like Cristiano Ronaldo in this world cup. They will definitely fill the place of stars who have reached retirement age. For example, Joao Felix will be successful for the forward. Portugal's young players are generally very promising.

Do you think that a younger team will lift the trophy this time? Last time(2018) France won the world cup, and they had a number of 30 plus players on their squad (Lloris, Giroud, Matuidi, Mandanda.etc). But I agree that some of the star players were in their late teens or early 20s (Kimpembe, Pogba, Mbappé, Dembélé.etc). Croatia (runners up) on the other hand had an older squad, with average age of around 30-31. And back in 2014 Germany won the final. Apart from Klose and Weidenfeller, none of the players were 30 plus.

I think Ibrahimovic can afford to play at 40 and this means that maybe even Cristiano who says this will be his last World Cup can afford to play at least another Euro if not even another World Cup,that would not surprise me at all considering the physical form of Cristiano Ronaldo.

As for the winners I think it will be difficult to predict but I think Argentina deserve to win this having one of the most talented teams if we compare individual players of each team,this is just my opinion though.

Bad news: Ibrahimovic was out for 7-8 months due to surgery on his left knee, I hope this is not the end of his career because at this age it is very difficult to recover.
I don't think that there is a correlation between the team's World Cup success and age - this is a short-lived random tournament and it makes no sense to draw any conclusions from several games. Both the oldest and the youngest team (from the group of favorites) can win.

So in theory it could pay off to place a bet against Brazil that they won't win the world championship. I expect more from France than from Brazil. For Belgium it is the last chance with this team.

Agreed, I think England is a bit too high.  Might just be the Cas of more people just fan betting on England raising the odds.  I would think Germany should be sitting higher than them.  Might be some good value there taking a punt on germane at these odds

I would rule out Belgium. From what I have seen in the past, teams that are overdependent on a single player never does will in the world cup. This is applicable for teams such as Belgium and Portugal. And during the Euro Cup of 2021, despite winning all their group matches, Belgium lost the match against Italy in the Quarter-finals due to this reason. Italy had one of the best defensive formations and they were able to deal with Lukaku very effectively. The same will repeat with Belgium, if they play against teams like Argentina, who have stellar defense.

I would swap Brazil and France, although for Brazil even 15% is a lot. In general, this rating is nonsense in terms of verifiability and rather reflects the amount of money that bettors are willing to bet on these teams. If we held 100 such tournaments at the same time, then we could check how accurate the bookmakers are, but now we are all just expressing our subjective opinion.

Although Brazil and France seems to be the best teams in terms of young quality players, but Belgium shouldn't be underrated.  Although the county's football team is gradually exiting its golden era, but the team still have the potentials to win the world cup. A team that boast of quality players like Thibaut Courtois,Kevin De Bruyne, Romelu Lukaku and a top class coach Roberto Martinez can come up with surprises.Kylian Mbappe, N’golo Kante, and Paul Pogba are some of the best names in football today, but football is still unpredictable because any team can turn the tide of the competition.

I think that this world cup has nostalgic overtones, we are going to see possibly the best player of all time without being able to lift a world cup.

Portugal is the team to bet on in this Cup, it seems to me that their position in the table is due to the cold numbers that lead them to that place, which, just as you mentioned, given the data used, places England better, even better than Germany, never! not in the reality of the World Cup.

LOL.. I would agree with this. England always plays like shit during world cup. And if you remember, back in 2014 they even failed to progress to the second stage. Back then it was a shocker, as they finished at the bottom of their group with just one point from three matches. To be fair, Italy also failed to qualify and were placed in the same group as England. Costa Rica and Uruguay were the two teams that qualified from Group D. Back then the only point for England came from a goalless draw against Costa Rica, as they lost matches against both Uruguay and Italy. 

2018 was better for them. They managed to reach the semi-finals in Russia.

I wonder if this is still valid though. This was more like a thing in the 1970s-90s. Now football is so comercialized and the English Premier League is (arguebly) the strongest in Europe. Even if many players there are not English but from different countries, this also shapes and influences the English team. I think it's time that England finally wins some big international title.

Germany on the other hand has had mnay problems since their 2014 win. I don't see them overcome those in the next few years.

2014 Germany was at another level, Mario Götze played an excellent final, but overall the entire team was just so great.

I think Germany in this world cup will showcase some new players, and try something different. But I'm sure it will advance to the second stage at least.

They were the first team to qualify for Qatar 2022 (after the host of course), so that means they're prepared to win the tournament this time again.

Despite holding such a high ranking, England has won the world cup only once (and that too in 1966, when the tournament was held in the United Kingdom). Looking at their recent performances, I am not getting very hopeful. They played two friendlies this year (against Switzerland and Ivory Cost). Won both of the matches, but struggled against Switzerland. And during qualification stage, they conceded draws against relatively weak teams such as Poland and Hungary. Let's see how they form at the Nations League.

I'm not even sure England will be able to qualify to the next stage to be honest. It's on group B with United States, Iran, and depending on the next match, Wales or Ukraine.

My guess is that Ukraine will end up qualifying, and also going to the next stage. That would leave another direct spot which I think the US might get.

It will be definitely interesting to watch though, but I wouldn't say it's a given that England even goes to the second stage at this time...
