Exactly true with FIFA World Cup is an opportunity to show young player skill, learned from how popular with Ronaldinho after he has excited performance on FIFA World Cup 2002 in South Korea. but lionel messi and cristiano ronaldo are extraordinary players who are very talented more than any other football legend. the presence of talented players like these two stars, will not happen in a decade, it can even exceed several decades, until young stars are born who exceed them both, both in talent and achievement of many achievements. so far they are both megastars of all time. however, we will never know they will retire after this world cup event or not.

Italy's problem wasn't related to injuries of course. They had many draws in the group stage and I felt like that was a bad sign for the next stages of the World Cup as well. However I would never expect North Macedonia to punish them like that in the play-off stage already. Maybe it was luck because Italy did whatever they could in that match.

On the other hand, I also agree with you about Italy's future. They would come back stronger in the next World Cup. Because normally Italy have a great pool full of talented players. Maybe it was about the team chemistry after some new young players joined.

It isn't uncommon that the top teams only win by a goal or two against the smaller, less popular nations. Sometimes during the qualification rounds you would think that Spain or England will win every game with 5 goals or more ahead, but that is often not the case. The games are much closer in many cases. When seemingly weaker teams like North-Macedonia score the first goal, everyone knows how time starts ticking for the big favorite. Sometimes many things happen then. Many close shots on target, a lucky safe by the keeper and maybe the post saves the underdog in the final minutes. One thing is also for sure, that the underdogs fight as if that game was already the World Cup final. The team spirit in such situations is not to be underestimated. I hope we will see some of those games when David puts Goliath under fire, it's always fun to watch them.

Maradona and Pele are probably on another level though.

In Argentina Maradona is also known as D10S (God in Spanish, spelled with the number 10, his shirt number). People really have an adoration of Maradona, I think he transcended football.

And Pele was just phenomenal, probably the first superstar in football.

Even though Messi is great, it will never get to the same level of Maradona.

There is no doubt now this is happening because age factor is going to have big impact on them as well with Ronaldo is 37 and Messi is 35 which mean they are now not good as we have them in last world cup 2018 they already both are over 35+ which mean they can't play like they have done in previous events.

Even both are giving their best in club games Messi already done good in new season in PSG, but Ronaldo is unable to perform as he is currently under some good rumors for change of club because of his desire for Champions League, but both are capable of giving their best in this world cup which could be last for these both players and many more which are already near them in age factor.

Keep in mind though that there have always been exceptions especially when it comes to the goalkeeper position. Buffon and other keepers have been around their forties or close to it and still participated in the big tournaments. I can see Neuer still being around in four years from now. Maybe he isn't first choice anymore by then, but he could still be a part of the team. That might also be the case for Muller, but it all comes down to their physical fitness and whether they are still playing by then anyway. But yes, this World Cup will be the last one for some of the GOATs. Hopefully we can enjoy some strong performances by Messi, Ronaldo and all the rest.

Here, we have nothing new because it's going into cycle many great players now in history books with their play and achievements so same going to happen with these legendary players as well because no one can stop time span and these players from coming older as we lost them surely we will have many new names even many are under development, but few are giving their best like Mbappé, Neymar and Haaland they could be new players to talk about and having something good for new generation kids.

I think we have seen a real epoch in sports. In soccer as well as elsewhere. I really doubt that we will anytime soon be witnessing two players that in 12 out of 13 years win the world soccer player title. Messi and Ronaldo won it in 10 consecutive years. That is just hard to imagine even when there is Mbappe and Haaland out there right now. There were so many factors involved, not least the fact that Ronaldo and Messi stayed healthy all the time. It just needs one major injury and you can't win the trophy anymore during a particular season or maybe even two seasons. They didn't have those injuries and they scored like monsters nonstop. I think that was one example that could go down in history as once in a lifetime from a spectator's point of view.

I have to agree with you, as since 2019 I have seen news that Bayern would be looking for another goalkeeper to replace Neuer after his retirement, but that never happens. In fact news about Neuer's retirement dates back to 2016.
But, on the contrary... Neuer is still active and being one of the best goalkeepers in the world.

Yeah, goalkeepers tend to have a longer career because they are not as physically active in the entire 90 minutes of every match. I'm still surprised to see many players like Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi still at almost their peak even though they are pretty old for football standards. I guess science and technology these days help to keep them active for longer.

Well.. that is surprising, because I always thought that the job of goalkeeper was a lot more demanding. It is very stressful and requires a lot of physical activity. And almost everytime, they are not given due credit. There have been some legendary goalkeepers in the past, such as Peter Schmeichel and Carlos Valderrama. But they are not given the same amount of respect, as given to forwards such as Diego Maradona and Zinedine Zidane. Anyway, this is just my personal opinion and others may not agree with me.

The ones who are better known and have high prestige are always strikers who score a lot of goals and some fans forget the services of a goalkeeper. The goalkeeper is the last defense to block the ball into the goal. Some of the best goalkeepers in 2022 include Jan Oblak from Atletico Madrid, Manuel Neuer from Germany, Marc-Andre ter Stegen from Barcelona. they are heroes at the back and need to get the credit they deserve.

there are a lot of talented young players at the moment, they are very good at their level. has extraordinary talent skills but until now, there has not been a star player who is truly on the same level as the two megastars.
