Another rant about how shitty this FPL update is, it logs you out automatically every now and despite being force to used a different browser solely for it, and it's an eyesore making transfer, you'll have to keep switching in between pages, you can even view the entire player list in a position in the transfer page without selecting a player to transfer out, the list goes on and on... @buwaytress's UCL website is more user friendly

I somehow managed to put together my first draft, and Haaland, Salah nor Isak made the list, looks crazy but that might be my play before my first wildcard.

I'm using the app and no problem for me..

It's extremely difficult to field Palmer/Saka, Salah, and Halaand in the same draft right now without reducing the backline to the cheapest available.  The fees are too high for my liking, and I honestly don't know what they (FPL) hope to achieve with a price hike.

The only good explanation I can think of is that this price increase will destroy the regular same lineup templates but still sucks.

Prices are locked until the game starts so you are good on that front. Only way you can profit by making a squad early is to target a player that will make a move to the team that you want to have a lot of players from. Let's say in your case you already have 3 LFC players and you hear Palmer is coming to red side. You take him before the transfer is official and you have 4 Liverpool players until the moment you transfer one of them out.

Thanks! Yeah wondered if I should lock in my players as they come in case price goes up but now I know they won't change until season starts, I won't rush. Thanks for the tip too. I did mention earlier that price is probably the next aspect I need to level up my game in FPL but I will only experiment with it a little (unless my FPL dies early then I'll definitely go crazy).

It actually logs me out even on browser, and I don't clear cookies on FPL. Slightly annoying but not to the point I hate it. I do find that I'm still getting used to the layout even after 3 seasons (and I blame it for making my AssMan chip mistake last season as I got confused).

Cutting down the backline is difficult when we literally have every DEF from a decent team at £6.0m - for the first time VD, Cucurella, Gvardiol and Gabriel are £6.0m so how do you navigate this? We used to have a decent 5.0-5.5m DEF, now we don't.

Now it's either you have a decent MID or a decent FWD now way to have both luxury MID and FWD this season.

I can't even tell who's going to lead our FWD this season between Delap and Pedro.

Double the chips is handicap enough. Every season they introduce some more elements to level the playing field and make it more about luck. If we were playing the game from 2 seasons ago while we still had many doubles/blanks and no new chips I would be prepared to offer some handicaps.

I'll likely take my chances at Beating The Mafia yet again, but I wait closer to when I'm sure about my team, and importantly financial numbers to see what I'd have on the line, it's not as though I'd lose anyways

Here my very first draft, and there will be changes, for sure, mostly like very slight ones as I don't think of an overhaul, I went with Trafford in goal, provided he goes to Man City, no cheaper way into the City defense and with rotation expected everywhere else, I don't think Man City 3 outfield players would much of thing for me to start with.

Defensively, unlike last season where it was the midfield with a lot of cheap valuable options getting decent returns like Saar, Rogers and co, this time around, one can almost comfortably fill the 5 DFs positions with 4.5m defenders with decent expectations, I might eventually go with four 4.5m and just one fixed 6m DFs be it VVD or Gvardiol in considering how the first few weeks goes when I decided to pull WC.

Midfield is where my biggest issue currently lies, players that might have been my biggest target for mid prices are all in the wrong team, Man United (Mbuemo, and Cunha), with 3m in the bank I might do Saka to Salah, If I'm making that extra 6.0 to 4.5 DF switch, I think my biggest changes if any would come in the MF position.

Forward, this the one position I might make less changes with and each changes done here is always going to be for the 3-4 weeks stretch, with probably either Gyokeres or Ekitike coming into the mix, but not really bright first couple of fixtures so to say.

The game becomes less unique, and everyone would just have a very similar template of going all premium, I'd rather have Salah, Haaland, Palmer, Saka, Isak, Bruno Fernandes, VVD, Gvardiol all season long at a 20-40 points deficit, there will be less tinkering if we can all afford all the players we want just at 50 points deficit from the beginning of the season.

The budget is just FPL's way of saying you can't have it all, and no one can, just do the best with what you have kind of thing.

Oh hell, I didn't realise those guys Gab and Gvard have gone up in price, they were crucial to my backline. Guess I'm going to have to go for newer Chelsea/City picks, but again, playing time not guaranteed. Horrible pricings, I'm definitely going to need to just really nail down the guys I want badly, and then fill up with Brentford, Villa,... maybe even Fulham for a start.

True, that’s obviously going to be the case and frankly, I wouldn’t want to have that feature in the game, it’s going to be a lot H2H with everyone else with very few points making the differentials since, it’s going to be the same template all over.

The game often starts with a rush as we saw last season where these very pricy and valued players rush to the scoreboard and try to maintain it till the momentum drops when their is an obvious lead from a side. Of course underperforming players would get dropped and possibly a price drop as well due to transfer outs until they pick up pace.

Only way to play price game this early is to hit bang on low owned cheap players. There will be that 4.5 -5,5 M midfielder that will get 3 attacking returns in first 2 GW. Good luck picking him.

The other way around goes way slower. For instance you are sure Haaland will do poorly and 70% of people have him. Very small percentage will sell him after GW1, almost everyone will give him at least 3GWs before even considering ditching him.

Do you really think Trafford can bench Ederson while he is available?  Ederson's deal with City expires at the end of the season, and City didn't want Newcastle United to sign their potential Ederson replacement, so they had to act quickly to activate the buyback clause in his contract with Burnley.

Best advice is to wait and sees who starts in GW1.
