I've been waiting for this announcement and I'm in without any doubts. I hope that you will get generous offer from potential sponsors. But be careful when choosing sponsor to avoid similar things like we had with Betnomi. It appears that there was some red flags on their service, but none of us didn't noticed it.
As I understand, it will be separate leaderboard and rewards on Superbru and odds based game?

Dear friends, I'm just messaging everyone here to say I haven't forgotten about this pool. It starts in 13 days, but as you might know, our former sponsor is no more, and I'm yet to receive a hard offer from anyone. I've reached out to some brands, so let's see!

You know I am IN if new Champions League Pool finds a new sponsor for this season, and I hope this will happen soon enough.

I didn't join the pools in the previous seasons. I joined Bundesliga, F1 and fantasy football pools this season. I don't understand why I didn't join before. Even if there isn't any sponsor I want to join if you approve me. The Champions League is the football organization that I follow the most.

I'm inside too. My first participation last season was bad; I couldn't climb up the rankings, but I had many winning tickets. I hope we get an official sponsor for this season and more than 50 participants, allocating a larger amount for entry fees. Even if we can't attract a sponsor, we'll have enough cake for the winners.

I think that a sponsor can be found for the Champions League pool this year as well because many members joined the pool last year. I will be much more careful this year because of failing in this pool last season. One should be very careful about making predictions for especially Group F.

I agree with LTU_btc that we should be selective with sponsors, but last season's incident could not have been foreseen. When we accepted the sponsorship, their reputation was intact. Established brands will definitely get preference but for me, as long as there is no current taint on the sponsor's reputation -- they deserve consideration. At least one offer comes from a new brand, I am considering them without prejudice.
• Participation fee will be set at 2mbtc. We've witnessed a tendency of growing fees over the years and while I think this is beneficial, it might be healthy to lower it to soften the inflation.

New aspect: odds-based prediction
Down to business, I'm really pleased that people are open towards trying out something new. The success of BSFL (you guys know what I'm talking about) proves that forum gamblers want interaction and less passive participation. I always felt that the current systems of prediction also fail to adequately reward risk-taking so let's see if this new aspect works out.

Pool will continue with classic prediction on Superbru. No need to fix something that ain't broke but we'll proceed with the odds-based experiment. We'll maintain 2 parallel leaderboards, prize pot to be split evenly using same structure across both events.

This is how it'll work.

1. Each Matchday, all participants will be assigned 10 points. Think of this as your bankroll to bet on football. They "stake" these points on Moneyline outcomes on any of the matches in that Matchday.
2. You can stake 1-10 points per match, or spread the points over many matchesm, but total staked points cannot exceed 10. Unused points don't carry over, each Matchday starts anew with 10 points per participant.
3. Leaderboard Points are earned on winning outcomes, according to the odds of those outcomes. Wrong outcomes earn 0 points.

Matchdays 1-6 are Group Stage legs (home + away).
Matchday 7 and 8 are the Last 16 legs
Matchday 9 will be the QF
Matchday 10 will be SF legs + Final

Players enter their picks on Google Forms. Results are tallied on Google Sheet.

I don't see any problem with new brands sponsoring the pool as long as you get the money upfront in escrow. If things turn to worse, money is still here and you can just remove their name from thread title. Maybe you can throw sentence like that into conversation with sponsors in case it is brand new company. Not that I am expecting problems.

For help with the sheet contact joker_josue. But his specialty is excel not google as far as I know but maybe it is similar enough.

Great job, I am in of course. Looking forward to test betting aspect of the pool, if only you would also give both to score markets but I know every new market makes it exponentially harder to update unless it is all automatic. I guess you will lock the odds when you make the forms to make it easier and less complicated for all parties.[/list]

I was trying how the form works and ended up submitting the form. The last page, when the Next buttom turns to Submit, can you make it different, because clicking next became so addictive that I clicked the submit button without even seeing what it says. I thought it was another Next button LOL. Please remove both entry I made. I will need to submit my form again.

This really is an interesting idea, I'm going to be honest and it will be fun to say the very least.

However, I have a few questions regarding how this will working in general towards the latter stages of the tournament;

For instance in the semifinals and finals there will be limited number of options, will players be allowed to select more than one options as they see fit, determined by the odds, I mean in a case of a Man City vs Celtics in a UCL finals, where we have the odds distribution as follows;  1 [1.2]    X [4.3]     2 [10.5]

The outcomes are the numbers placed outside and the odds in brackets above [ ], if a user which to have his 10 points split into 2, with 5 points going for [X] @ 4.3 odds and 5 other points going for [2] @ 10.5 Odds, that's like backing the underdogs on a win/draw bases, or it just solely a go hard or go home situation at that point.


And secondly there would be potential extra time played in the 2nd legs after the group stages, are the result determined by the native 90 mins result of Sportsbooks, or the extra time counts whenever there this one.

I just tried the form and I think it's quite understandable too. It's pretty interesting and I'm not sure it's ever been tried before like this. I've seen betting contests but it's always based either on highes wager, highest win amount, not "points" so seems reaaly really interesting.

I like Harkorede's and Trofo's idea too, why not make more options for staking? Over/Under would be nice, even allowing to put more than one choice per match

Thanks for the private message, I was already looking for a new Champions League pool. However, I really would like to participate, but honestly I don't know if I have enough time. Especially if you're adding this new system with two seperate leaderboards. I am in 5+ pools on different platforms (Kicktipp, Superbru, Google Form questions etc.) already and all these things take tons of time.

Therefore: if you guys end up with a single Superbru pool, I'm 100% on board. If there are two separate leaderboards, I will decide shortly before the start whether I will take part.

One important point I would like to add: If you guys choose a new system, please make sure that the rules are unambiguously clear (i.e. also deciders in case of equal points etc.).

I think Over/Under would make the concept more strenuous to find a balance margin on where to draw the margin for Over/Under is it 1.5, 2.5 or 3.5 and being able to have multiple picks (parlay) would not make this concept any easier either, rather it would change the entire logic behind, because that's basically just turning this into google spreadsheet or excel sportsbook.

@Trofo Agree, and I'm in no position to judge a sponsor on merits, if they have no outstanding reputational issues, money in escrow is good enough.

@slaman29 @Harkorede I thought to keep it simple with 1x2 -- as you note, we can expand "markets" but the point is not to turn this into an Excel book, but to try a new system that rewards risk in predictions. At the time being, I'm calculating points manually so it will be as Trofo observes exponentially more work for every new market. If we're successful with automation, then maybe. But we also don't want to overcomplicate. We'll keep the feedback and see if we can implement later!

Superbru leaders are there generally by luck (you can predict the right outcome but get from 1 to 3 points depending on score). An odds-based system rewards risk, if you get more points, you did that not only by getting the right outcome, but by taking riskier picks. We also have to consider

As for Google form, everything seems to be clear and I’m glad that there are only three options without totals, etc. - this makes it easier to count points and select a bet.

Sponsoring these costs, so I'm always glad to try ideas that will bring value to the sponsors as well.

Absolutely, I fully agree with you on the sponsorship. If you want to keep these big sponsored betting pools alive in the long run, you have to be constantly creative and keep the engagement high so that it is really worth it for a potential sponsor.

I am by no means against the changes, I just wanted to emphasise why I might not be able to participate if I simply don't have the time for all the pools.

But let's see, maybe I can manage it somehow.
